I was surprised how bored I got during some parts of the movie and how many times I checked my watch.I think the biggest problem for me were the villains.Maybe I have been spoiled by GL : First Flight but if it was more like that movie,this would have been great.So,for me,this isn't a bad movie,but it's not a good one either and there's no way it should be in a "top 10" or "top 5 worst movies of 2011" list - there were far worse films than Green Lantern last year.

wtf? this film was 3d converted so obviously it's worse. save your money and enjoy it more by seeing it in 2d. 3d converted films are giving 3d a bad name and they are the reason of why people hate 3d. only films which were filmed in 3d are preatty amazing.

What the ignorant critics need to realize is that the plot of this movies has already been set in stone from the get-go. It's based on a comic, so you either have to change that completely, which the fans don't appreciate, just to please said critics, or keep the original story. It will not be another Dark Knight because Batman just happened to have the ability to become what movie critics loved already inlaid into the plot. In the end, thankfully, the moviegoers have the final say, not critics.

I honestly thought that this movie was OK. I think they could've done better with the CGI. But I thought Ryan Reynolds played a really good Green Lantern. And I totally agree with you that this movie is more fluffy and light than darker and intense. But I'm very much looking forward to the Dark Knight sequel and the reboot of Superman and Spiderman! And the Avengers and Captain America! Superhero movies are always fun to watch! Hahaa

I agree with your critique of the movie for the most part Chris. I do however think the sequel will be super intense and much darker thus making a awesome flick! We will get to see sinestro succumb completely to fear and start his war against the green lanterns. Mark Strong was awesome and will end up going down as one of the greatest comic book villians portrayed in a movie ever! Can't wait. Good solid flick,alot better than thor imho...that would be my only difference with you.

hated this movie. If you watch it in its entirety you can clearly see where scenes shoud be but are not due to production cutting them out for whatever reason. I dont like this ryan renolds guy, he just seems off to me. The special efeects were horrid, the story is so done, cliche and predictable. I wouldnt mind so much but when the super hero genre has given us chris nolan batman movies, iron man first class, the spidey trilogy, tim burton batman movies. Dont see it.

I have to say I really have no idea why most critics hate this film. It didn't cram in villains like Spiderman 3, it didn't force us to endure the unfunny inane chatter of Shia LaBeof in the Transformers, and it wasn't cheesy like so many other superhero movies. It set us up for a new character, his powers, and immediate environment setting us up for wider story possibilities in future films. Check out our channel for our full thoughts.

I haven't seen it yet, but when I first heard that they were using 3 big villains I knew it would be a problem for viewers not initiated into the GL mythos. You not only have to figure out Hammond, Sinestro, & Parallax, but you have to deal w/ the concepts of:The Corps, the Guardians, Oa, the Battery, the rings' powers, the relationship w/ Carol. All in one action flick.Too much for a lot of people. For lifelong fan like me, you have to deal w/ a newer version of Hal, which is also a challenge.

The only reason there's so much hate is because DC failed to realize what it was competing against: First Class, Thor, Captain America. All those movies are being dropped all at once like a mothafuckin bomb of awesomeness! No, I don't think Cap is going to be a good movie, I hate the idea that Reynolds is playing ANOTHER comic character and I hate Reynolds but Marvel is killing DC and they're doing it by shooting out their limbs with a minigun- Fangirl

Ever since the New Year, and Avatar Wanna-Be CGI was everywhere, I've tried to stop critiquing Special Effects. If the visuals are something worth talking about, I talk about the atmosphere, not the CGI quality.

If the action is really good, that sounds fun. However, action doesn't make a movie.

A movie I'd called just a good ol' fun time recently is The Green Hornet. Is it like that? Pirates 4 was also a lot of fun.

Hey Chris, would you consider the lightness of GL to be similar to the lightness of Spiderman (the first movie)? The tone of the Spiderman 1 and 2 is different, from light to a more drama. Is GL like that?

@TheManuvision No Green Lantern is much more fluffy than Spidey 1. The first Spidey was able to maintain a balance between very dark and intense scenes, and light fun, Green Lantern is almost all fun.

@FuryoftheFilmFan There are no F words, but the first 20 minutes or so there's a lot of PG-13 level cussing but it dies down. No limbs or anything just standard superhero violence.
