  • Human League just signed to UK recording label Wall of Sound! New material (songs, videos, album) expected in 2010!!!!

  • At 0:57 she says .. "I can't see you Steed". She must have got confused with her role in the New Avengers. This is a brilliant video edit by the way! Well done.

  • Thanks!

  • Dude, you're right, that is pretty clearly a 'D' and not an 'L'.

    Hahahaha XD

  • @MyOddSock she's saying "steel".

  • I don`t know where they get the imagination from?

  • I keep returning to this video even after two years!

  • same here

  • Me too, it's the best video on the whole of youtube

  • A very nice tribute to the best story from one of the best sci-fi series ever to hit TV.

  • What show was this. That chick's eyes are creepy as hell!

  • Sapphire and Steel. It ran on the BBC in the very early 80s. Creepy as hell sums up the whole series.

  • ITV actually, sorry to be so pedantic

  • LOL, so it was. In my defense, it's been a while since I saw the show as a boy.

  • @Samsaptaka Sapphire and Steel was actually on ITV from 1979 till 1982. This is a fantastic video, and deserves its popularity.

  • Comment number 100 to say a massive thankyou to everyone who took to time to view and for helping this video break the 100,000 views mark!

I never thought this lil' effort of mine would ever become this popular, and thanks ever so much for all the wonderful comments, that kind of feedback really does make it all worthwhile.

Special thanks to Rob Windle (Orac) at Electronically Yours for the original idea, and of course to the Human League for making the music that shines a light in the dark.

  • Brilliant series and great haunting song. Interesting blend of a great period in time. Nice to hear music without guitars for a change.

  • Ahh, always Purdey to me.

    True British female quality.

  • Thank you Afront for this! This was always one of my favorite Human League songs. I always wished they would have made an extended version of this song and had it on their "Love And Dancing" album but it never happened. You did an excellent job of remixing this. I particularly like the part at 2:00. It sounds fantastic! Great job!!

  • Thanks very much outsider497, you're too kind!

  • -It´s me Patsy!,

  • Well done, great mix, great video editing. I usuallyhate it when people remix songs years later but you've truly caught that great time all over again and made it better. Bless you!

  • haha, I remember from some years ago when I was little, me and my sister used to watch Sapphire and Steel :DD we were probably a bit too young to watch the show but we watched it anyway, although it really was quite creepy back then :DD

  • What's the girl name ?

She was very good in the advengers.

  • Joanna lumley !!!!

  • Thankyou kindly!

  • Its Sapphire & Steal from the 1980's With Joanna Lumley, David McCallum .... not The Avengers!

    Human League / Sapphire & Steal = 1980's

  • These are clips from The New Avengers - 60's and 70's. Great work though mate.....

  • I love Joanna Lumley. One of the few Americans to know who she actually is.

  • Plenty of Americans know Lumley from Absolutely Fabulous.

  • Right, CHEERS, Thanks Alot!

  • great video

  • IS that Patsy from Abfab?!!!?!!?

  • Yeah it's clips from an 80's TV show called "Sapphire and Steel" by the looks

If I remember correct they were get stories sadly made by a crap production company

  • I have the record on vinyl disk. Prefer the album version by far.

  • I won't put this in my favorites video section on this site-from fear of someone using the material in this -The Human League's video. Precious.

  • brill ..... track ,,,

  • human league is awesome...love this song!

  • The babies were not dead!!! The title reproduction should give you a clue 'Lovesgenet'!!! Is this another lack of intelligence who say what they think they see and suddenly all gets blown out of proportion. Reproduction!Reproduction! Hello new life!!!!

  • why is seconds not on here

  • "I can't see you Stead"???? 0.57 She's a little confused about which programme she's making, lol. Great mix/idea by the way!

  • still the best vid on here

  • I wish i cold find this old album. Dare was the best .the dead babies on album before I dunno. but they always had good ideas. The sould music i didn't work with.Mayvei should listen again. I remember every track on Dare was so new to californian boys n 1982 ~~~!!!

  • The babies weren't dead. The first album with the babies was called 'Reproduction'. It was followed by 'Travellogue'. Both brill' and unique. Got both on original plastic.

  • Sometimes i feel 40 but when i listen to The Human :eague and see Sapphire and Steel its like being a teenager again - will there ever be such a progressive time as the 80s for originality - i doubt it - Dare 2007 !!! Cant Wait

  • Amazing!! the other linndrum pattern you overdubbed is from something i have, but cant place it what is it?

this is a we stroke of great creative genius, any one should try out the dare album i was 8 in 1981 when i got it and i have had umpteen copies since good stuff it is the start of the digital stuff...

  • Absolute work of genius!

  • Very interesting idea that - Sapphire & Steele was a cool late Seventies series - The Man From Uncle's Illia & The New Avengers' Purdy... the second voice by the way is Micheal Rennie from The Day The Earth Stood Still, where he threatens earth to be reduced to a burned out cinder, if...

The most intelligent SF ever made in the Fifties...

    Very neat, more please...

  • wow, I heard about this series at Chicago Tardis and had no idea. This is brain alteringly good stuff. Good song to mix it with. America never gets the good shows.

  • Wow....nice job! I love this song...although I have never actually heard the original version...only live versions and now this remix....great!

  • Such great series, I've forgotten how good it was and still is. Very good choice of a song and I love how you made it meld with the scenes and dialogue. Perfect. Well done! Please make more with this series;-)

  • No wonder I had so many nightmares as a child. I'd forgotten how freaky Saphire and Steel was. I genuinely jumped when Joanna Lumley's eyes changed... Nice job with the league. Must finally get a copy of Dare.

  • Jer , Youre a genius.. having only the audio mix to go by thus far now I can see the whole kit and caboodle and its a joy to behold. well done mate

    Si

  • That is soooo good! I love the bit where you join "I Hear" with FEAR!

    Brilliant

  • Reall excellent! Well done, very professional, great song and well chosen footage!

  • aww thankyou very much!

  • Dark matter craps!

  • When I made this mix, I wanted to leave a gap (at 00:23) that felt just long enough to be slightly unsettling. It took me a while to get it just right. I've now realized that the video is exactly 321 seconds long. This has spooked me out a bit, as I'd thought of the gap as a "countdown to darkness" months before I made the video. Strange that.
