i was in the same situation as you: clarinet player wanting to join the jazz band. i had already been playing clarinet for 7 years when i first picked up a tenor sax. it took me a day to figure out how to play it. going from clarinet to sax is a piece of cake. it's been a week since your post, so i'll assume you've already got it down. ;D
