No, I don't think community policing is good for every community. It's unfortunate that the local authorities are recruiting "Tom, Dick and pancho" who have a criminal back ground the length of King Kongs dik. They place you on hit lists, use Proxy community members and go after, terrorize and share data so that no matter where that person moves to, as they go slowly broke and their nerves are spent, its in the database while they laugh, and act haught--I know, have seen it. @swstalkee I agree and know factually, and on a personal level of a woman and her neighboring buddies who made a lot of 'monitoring' money community policing, whom, not only had a far less stellar background (as their 'suppose to have'), leaving behind 400k in bad foreclosures and lying to a court system, they used this to make fun, have fun and terrorize one other. All govt money in all the wrong hands--un-etheical, unkind, with laughable oversight.

It is utilizing all your resources, your stakeholders and police to solve crime-related problems in the community.

Community Policing can fix the split created between Citizens and Police during the 60's and 70's. But it's going to take the Police AND the Citizens to break the cycle.
Actually, you didn't help. You fail to see exactly what Community Policing does. It's not about the community doing the jobs that the police were hired for. It's all about how there are not enough police to cover every inch of a city. People in the community know what goes on around them. They know where the problem areas are. They know where police can set a focal point to catch some criminals who have elduded them in the past.

I'd just like to say, Police generally aren't respected very much and that comes with the job but community police are a joke. Some helpful advice I could give would be, 1) get rid of the uniforms they just make them look like idiots. 2) Find people that generally care rather than people who just like the power (it's pathetic the amount of times I have been stopped and questioned for no good reason), and 3) Get actual cops out on the beat and use community officers for paper work. Hope I helped.
