Maybe even in our galaxy there are other planets with life and techology similar to us, and they are also looking out and wondering. I would want to be around the day we meet eachother. :) The day we make contact and space travel stations are built where we go to the others for vacation, work etc. Who know. Im sure we are not alone, but what stages and how the others have evolved can be hard to understand. The amount of planets and suns plus space size tells me we are not alone.

I really wish we'd find Earth-like planets and have the means to travel and colonize other worlds with advanced spaceships.

I've heard some theories before that a spaceship with photon drives can reach 99% the speed of light, or by anti-matter drive.

I don't think we're the only life in the universe. There might be life more advanced and worlds closer to the center of the galaxy are ahead of us (Earth being an outer rim world) but probably most other life forms are simple organisms.

There is a good chance that if life is given enough time to evolve it can easily become intelligent. A lot of scientists one of the main reasons we were able to make that jump is because we looked up at the stars and wondered what was going on.

It is theorized that the moon was once a planet with a core, which crashed into ours.

That would mean our planet has a dual core, some people say they joined, other people think they are two opposite spinning cores. Either way they are responsible for the magnetic field and clearly the dynamo that is our core is the most important characteristic for life as it shields the atmosphere and allows liquids to form.

looking at the night sky is fairly intimidating. when you look at the stars, you really do feel small. I doubt that were alone, our galaxy is probably teeming with life. Its just we have the same problem, traveling at the speed of light, or faster.

If the universe is truly endless, which many believe it to be, then it is impossible for Earth to be the only inhabited planet. An endless universe would have an endless number of star systems exhausting an endless number of mathematical possibilities. If the universe is endless, then theoretically  there should be other solar systems strikingly similar to ours with nearly identical lifeforms.

I had this Idea for a way to acheive light speed that if you could somehow build up, and store kinetic energy, and delay Isacc Newton's action-reaction law, you could eventually build up enough potential energy to shoot something into space perhaps even faster than light. You can't store kinetic energy, but you can store potential energy as you said. The more potential energy you have the more kinetic energy you will have too. Delaying Newton's action and reaction law isn't going to happen, although scientific laws can change too. Nothing can exceed the speed of light. It doesn't matter how much energy you input. To accelerate matter to the speed of light, it would need to be infinite, which is of course impossible due to E=MC^2. QED.

I only agree with you in the case that we only know so much. Based on what we have observed thus far in science, your argument is to be valid.

However, you must understand that there are things we don't know yet, so to imply that you know it'd be impossible to exceed light speed is pure folly for a scientific perspective.

I don't know why your post got so many thumbs down. It might have been due to your remark that we might have a "...black-hole in the middle of our solar system." I think what you meant was the center of our galaxy.

In answer to your question:

Due to the immense distances involved it'd take a VERY long time for the black-hole to gobble up our entire galaxy. It also appears that black-holes have a dietary schedule of sorts. Its munching behavior speeds up or slows down over time.

There are some planets that do not contain the properties where life can form

Some planets are not in the correct distance from its respective star to allow life to exist (some too cold, some too hot).

There's also the question: Is life existing at the same time as us. Remember, it took us a couple million years for a single cell organism to begin.

Plus, to reach the closest star (4 light years away) takes about 100,000 years...

It'll take awhile before we can do it in one life time.
