OK, I've read Clyde Phillips left after Season 4. That explains a lot. More than a lot, it explains everything. The round end for the series was that bathtub, getting a conclusion that wouldn't be politically incorrect, but would avoid cheap morals as well, reaching a paroxism, a highly emotional climax, all the actors at the top of their game, and making the whole series become full circle. What came after feels more like a copy of the original show, just having the original cast playing in it.

I thought seasons 2 and 5 were the weakest, while i have high hopes for the current one - of course remains to be seen. Is there anything in particular you dislike about this season?

The plot doesn't build archs anymore, it is just a whole amount of single occurences that could be randomly remixed (Brian, The Trinity Killer, Icetruck-Killer), too many holes (e.g. no one could track his car to Nebraska?), it is the characters behaving as mere cliches of themselves (Batista, Quinn, even Debra), developing things clumsily (Laguerta/Matthews)... It looks aimless, loveless, as if they would have thought the plot two days before shooting.

@SianaGearz The only thing that keeps me watching is the good work of the actors, especially Carpenter, even though the writers are making her character look more and more foolish every chapter. As a comparison: before, all the characters gave a feeling of development, gaining depth continuously. Now, without having additional figures, they just show up for one-liners that look as if they were taken from a soap-opera. Different people show up, but nothing happens.

What i hate about Dexter, is that he is WAY to damn lucky, he risks a fuck lot. When he stalks his next victim, when he "Researches" the suspect's crimes in order to confirm that he is indeed guilty and deserves to die, and such...

And after closely watching the all the episodes i have come to the conclusion that eventually if he keeps this pattern up, he will make mistakes, and i think he made one in episode 6 of Season 6.

All in all i love Dexter, but they make him rely to much on luck.

He's set up his life in such a careful way, and he does come close to getting caught a few times and had some close calls (which you could say is lucky, I think he is fortunate a lot of the time...so to speak). But he's in an ideal spot to duck under the radar.

Sooner or later someone would have spotted him IRL ofc. And let's not forget how many times he meets in public his future victims, when he goes under false names and false motives. And of course the stalking phase i've mentioned when he is exposed again. All in all waay to lucky....has a divorced-from-reality thing attached to it.
