  • That's awesome. Riot police marching through the streets.

  • First off! KUDOS to youtube for stopping censorship of contravertial yet important vids of all kinds! Thank you(tube) for allowing us to see these vids. It must be hard to make that change-over from the past.

I know. Because MOST of these vids were considered(by youtube) "unavailable".

they've come a LONG way. (all of a sudden)

  • is there an office of the ACLU in Polk county Florida? It gets pretty cold in Minnesota in the winter time. I think this this community down here in po dunk fla need you to visit soon.

  • thank you for answering me. do you think our nation could be headed for a civil war? Have you considered the possibility that a civil war is on now, Only in a different context?

  • take the pigs guys away

  • you ACLU fucks are leftist, treasonous group of people who need to leave America or be hung for treason. Either way, makes me happy. You Pink communist fucks.

  • I almost wish you get (by mistake of course) into a demontration and a police baton over your red-neck head

  • Your civil rights are what make YOU an American. The ACLU defends those rights. Just because the ACLU is fighting what is called the "PATRIOT" act (the definition of misnomer), it does not make them "pink". But your statement does make you an idiot. I recommend 7th grade Civics class, because I doubt you made it that far.

  • Be that as it may, you have to admit that some of the cases they take do make you wonder what are they thinking.

Before you two start labeling people as red neck idiots I recommend you look up who founded the ACLU. Their ties to Communism is much stronger than they would have you believe. Maybe a few generations ago the ACLU was focused on a more finite agenda, but now they get entangled in large cases exclusively to neuter common institutions in America. It is a stated goal. Look it up.

  • Provide citation so we know where to look. Which institutions?

But yes, there are a few cases which seem odd. A large portion of those seem to be based on common ideology, that is, they seem odd because they are supporting a person or institution based on constitional rights, even though most people find that group and/or its ideas "wrong." Like communism, which so many people throw out as an insult without thinking of their own representative's positions. Heck, our taxes are "Communist."

  • exactly, what is the patriot act? why is it in place? Im no poly-sci expert but does policy create the potential for civil war?

  • I'm pretty sure you can look it up online, as it is a public law. You should also look up HR 1955, which adds an amendment to the Patriot Act.

It is in place because people wanted it to be, in the aftermath of the murder of close to 3000 people (and others dying after the fact).

To answer your last question, you need only look to the previous civil war.

  • I'm glad that the Anti-Christian Liberal Union will not be successful in destroying American Christianity. After all, the very FIRST right in the bill of rights establishes freedom of religion, that no laws shall be made to put any religion above another. Fortunately, you have the American Civil Liberties Union to help you against the organization you've mentioned, should things get difficult.

  • "For our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against authorities and powers, against the world-rulers of this dark night, against the spirits of evil in the heavens."

    -Ephesians 6:12

  • Notice that in the verse it says authorities. Any organization that's dedicated to the destruction of the one and only true faith needs to be fought biblically. However the verse says it all. No one can defeat the word of God. Pray for the a.c.l.u. that they may come to know Christ and turn their lives to him and live by his teachings. The aclu is wolves in sheeps clothing that we need to watch out for. Praise God for the victory through his one and only Son Christ Jesus. Amen.

  • i really don't understand your argument.

perhaps the ACLU are ignorant in many ways, but opposing authority is, as the verse proves, in no way un-biblical.

One trillion dollars went to the advertising insdustry; that's double the amount of money it would take to feed, clothe and sanitize the whole world, half of which live on less than two U.S dollars a day.

  • The ACLU seems to only be against God not just any authority, but THEE autority. Look at what they oppose most of the time.

  • @marbob63 Sounds like the usual paranoia and lies that theocons usually spew

  • sick to know people like you exist in america. people like you are filth

  • how can there be evil spirits in the heavens??

  • @InsurrectionaryAct spare us you stupid verses

  • If your stupid ass gets even remotely violent at a mass gathering of people then your odds of getting arrested are pretty damn high. You have the right to stand there and say whatever the hell you want. However, you don't have the right to incite violence or physically intimidate. The level of arrests says something about the quality of those protesting. Rewind and watch the clip right around where they show the protesters. You'll notice a trend quickly emerging.

  • Too young to remember Chicago? It's called a "police riot" for a reason. The police are the rioters.

  • Right let's not go to the LA Riots. By police riot do you mean the one where in 1968 10,000 protesters began pelting the police officers and guardsmen with food, rocks, bags of urine, and chunks of concrete? Is this the peaceful protest that was broken up by "the pigs." If you act like a unruly mob your protest deserves to be dispatched.

  • "However, you don't have the right to incite violence or physically intimidate."

Neither do the police. You're making some sort of ridiculous assumption that all cases are the fault of the protester, when there have been multiple documented cases in the past of a member of the police starting the conflict.

  • I am making the case that the protesters are obviously there full of overwhelming emotion. So much, in fact, it compelled them to get up and go somewhere and vent how upset they are. Given that, and how trained police are and how much the protesters outnumber the police it is easy to assume the police responded out of fear. If you were surrounded by 20 people shouting at you for several hours and one of them suddenly hits you, wouldn't it be possible you might lash out? Honestly...

  • Oh, I have no doubt that there were at least a few legitimate arrests. Don't get me wrong, I don't assume that the protesters were saints either. However, eye-witness reports. Reports from lawyers, judges, and journalists, and HOW police and secret service seem to be trained and taught to behave, all point to excessive and wrongful arrests by the police. There are multiple videos of fully peaceful mobs being straight up arrested, with no violence or disruption of the city being involved.

  • You're case, to me, seems to be based entirely on your opinion of the protestors, and of the police, without taking actual evidence into account. You say that the police are trained, so obviously they can do wrong. But... you refuse to acknowledge that, if you were surrouned by 20 people shouting (not necessarily at you even) isn't it possibly you might just take your frustration out on someone? It's a flawed argument, based on assumed emotional states and assumed levels of self-control.

  • I hate the ACLU. They seem to have a few good arguments but the way they go about getting their changes through are so wasteful of our tax dollars. Such huge legal actions taken and so many lawsuits filed against all levels of government to do what? Make america better? No, its for money, thats it. STOP WASTING MY TAX DOLLARS ACLU! A huge group of lawyers and a bunch of people that think they're doing this to change America when all they're really doing is coating fatcat pockets. I HATE ACLU.

  • How is the ACLU costing you tax dollars? If a lawsuit is won then they have a point don't they? Preventing people from protesting and reporting is an infringement on the bill of rights ... correct? Charging reporters under the patriot act is a bit over-reaching don't you think?

  • People used to have respect for the dead. However, much like people used to have jobs and a place to live before they had kids the government had to step in like a parent there too. Everything that goes through the court costs taxpayers, payouts by the government to orginizations like the ACLU cost taxpayers. Fighting for the 10commandments off courthouse lawn, to be able to yell at people over the grave of their child who died fighting for your rights to yell at their funeral? Get real.

  • Your right a fascist state where they tell what you can think, say, and do is much better <-sarcasm

  • I like your name.

  • "I hate the ACLU."

    You hate the constitution.

ACLU represents unpopular causes as promised by the constitution.

How did young people become so arthritic conservatives?

Conservatives would march on Washington to demand "What do we want? We want monopoly for the Oil Industry NOW"(repeat)

  • You're confusing "Conservative" and "Neo-Con."

  • Listening to radio & TV programs, like Fox News, Rush Limberger, they describe themselves as conservatives now.

They represent the staus quo, whatever and whoever was in power.

Supporting the war and oil (or are they interchageable?)

Anything that Bush does is without stain.

    Anti-education.

  • Sure, but they aren't conservatives. Giving that much power and carte blanch to the President is not a true conservative agenda. Reducing that power would be. Just because liars and fools call themselves something, doesn't mean we should allow them to hijack both the English language or political movements.

Of course... a lot of people go along with it anyway, but I try to oppose that when I can.

  • True. The term "conservative" was hijacked.

In fact, the whole conservative movement is a contradiction.

On the one hand, wanting smaller government, less government spending and less interference with people, yet doing the ABSOLUTE opposite.

The nationalization of the banking and the mortgage industry is a scary example of government ownership of private enterprise.

And i don't buy that this is all due to the subprime loan debacle.

And scare you that a Health Plan is socialism.

  • ACLU is a non-profit, non-government organization. The only people that are "wasting" your tax dollars are the people in our governments being sued for violation of our civil rights.

Get educated, or take your crap elsewhere.

  • Yes, beware of the "Conservatives" Republicans.

Beware of their new spokeswomen, Sarah Palin, who appears as Mrs Soccer Mom, fighter of lobby, earmarks, and Big Oil.

When you get past the little library outfit,

and the beehive hairdo, you find someone who supports a government that controls your every movement.

We are indeed in the slippery of days ,where our Constitution has almost been declared voided.

And a lot of the young people have been conned by the Repub Con Machine.

  • You're talking figuratively right?

  • The ACLU serves a purpose, but often hide behind those purposes for private agendas. Many violent, disruptive, and unlawful protestors pose as legitimate reporters. They break the law to get in close where they can be the most disruptive and damaging. The ACLU should be ashamed of themselves for protecting these people.

Protest if you must, but do it legally and with prudence.

  • More NAZI GOP tactics!

  • Thanks for the share, subiesisters. Interesting point about the FEDERAL funding of the LOCAL police, isn't it?

  • fAscinating' 800.

And i love the fantasy stories of those who approve of the suppression like:

"threw clorox in people's eyes (including one 82 year old woman who had to go to hospital)"

None of this was even hinted by in the news i watched.

  • It wasnt reported on mainstream media given it wasn't favorable to the dems. You can see actual footage on Youtube.

  • "It wasnt reported on mainstream media given it wasn't favorable to the dems."

This is about 400 arrested at the RNC.

I dont know how many were arrested at DNC?

The Repub believe all the media, colleges, high schools, magazines are liberal.

I don't think they have been very effective if that is true, as we have a Republcian Prez, and 6 years of Repub controlled Congress.

Can anyone tell when one is reporting the news, and when it is slanted?

I cant see the slant like I see in Fox News.

  • What on earth are you talking about women? If you have some argument, make it clearly and concisely and cite your sources.

  • The constitutional rights of these people have been violated. That is enough for me to get ready and inform others. If one is harmed who is to say the next one will not be me. All aspect of life and living is constitutionally acquired. The question is, will you hang yourself by not freeing your brother or will you realize that you are your brother?

  • What the hell? I know our television (and some papers) news outlets are complete nonsense, but I never thought they'd take it this far. Given, I don't watch much television, but I read the paper almost everyday and I never heard anything about them using any force at all. As if I didn't have enough reason to brand neo-conservatists as the national-socialists that they are.

  • freedom of speech does not mean you can break the law , and like he said he has been setting up the police for a lawsuit lol this guy is a pipe smoker

  • Fascist techniques via the Patriot Act.

  • Thank Clinton who ushered it in and Obama who utilized it during his dnc convention....

  • NOne of these people were arrested until they got violent, pushed police officers, threw clorox in people's eyes (including one 82 year old woman who had to go to hospital). Your right to assemble which was taken well advantage of from what I saw on other news reports. Your ability to violate other people and disrupt the peace was stemmed however.

  • Agent provacateurs called in police and busted people in meetings in their homes, smashing heads and possessions. Neighbors who protested these actions were busted and even those who asked what was going on found themselves under arrest. I grant you, fascists do feel safe when people who'd like to stomp them are incarcerated.

  • Liar liar, your pants are on FIRE, woman.

  • Hmmmm...don't recall armed and gas-masked militia required at the Dem convention. Tells me something about the Rethuglican viewpoint re: FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND THE RIGHT TO ASSEMBLE.

  • Free speech zone.

    Nuff said.

  • yea because the repubs dont do that stupid stuff

  • ACLU, you all are heros defending the US constitution and rule of law. Without you out there in the corner of common Americans, the powers that be would run amok. We that have few resources for legal defense sorely need you. Thank you.
