I never want cars to fly. A person would still need to be trained and get a pilot's license to fly it. It's not like anyone can buy it and start flying it without a pilot's license. As a professional pilot, I believe this type of aircraft will be a novelty for someone with a lot of money who wants to show it off.

@slimboni123 no... but tons of people fly a private plane... and this costs something in the neighborhood of 1/2 or there abouts of one of the most common general aviation aircraft..the cessna 172. If you buy one brand new, your looking at 5 or 6 hundred thousand....so 194 is a good price. It is just a plane you can drive home. Not your kids to soccer practice in.

Why are people worried about terrorism? First, it's a carbon-fibre vehicle; in other words, it's VERY light for its size. I really doubt it has the capability of bringing down a building like a commercial airliner does; terrorists would probably manage to kill more civilians by getting their hands on a few shotguns and going on a crazy killing spree. This plane really isn't a threat.

If you read their site, you will find that they stress the point that it is NOT a car. It is an airplane that can be driven on a road. I'm not criticizing the craft or its designers. I'm telling you what the designers said about their own design. I'm pointing this out because many people commenting have unrealistic expectation for this craft because they think it's a car.

Hmmm this could open a window of ease for terrorism and it would cause problems in areas with strict air zone laws. Plus take into the fact that not everyone can fly a plane so would need pilots lessons and if there is an accident its not just a few cars in danger, it houses, schools, hospitols etc etc.

its considered an LSA. the only difference being that once you land, you can fold down the wings and continue driving and park it in your own garage, instead of tying it down at an airport. Of course you would need a pilots license.
