I reckon that the bit where Homer falls on the chairs works a lot better in the Deutsch dub than it does in the original. This is because the way the letter A is named in German is consistent with the scream he does once he starts falling (Ah)

@stonem001 Don't say that it sucks. You're just used to different voices. In fact, the german voice-actors do an amazing job because they've done the voices as long as the american voice actors have. And I think that's the same with every other dub in the world

Just because they've done the voices a long time doesn't mean they're well done?

The trouble is, the German voice makes him sound too much like a cartoon character and doesn't have any naturalism; the appeal of Homer is (or at least was at one time during the better Simpsons series) that he represents a whole type of people in the West (US in particular), not that he's just a moronic buffoon (which the German voice makes him into).

I have to admit the german voice acting got worse and worse from 2005 on because many of our beloved voice actors died, such as Marge's (many americans consider her 1st german voice terrible but she sounded sensitive, strong and a little naive too) and the guy who spoke several minor charaktors (he had the talent to make those charakters sound unimportant and yet fun to listen to).

German Homer might sound like a buffoon but only if you don't understand german. :)
