  • I am very greatful for whoever posted this, i really needed this. Sadly i am (literally) surrounded by drinking, smoking, drug abusing close minded skeptiks that question me and the church and every turn, yet are completely closed to any explanation given that would counter their views. Literally, the only time when I am near open individuals is at church. I know we seem like were crazy since we swear to this church, but those who see us that way dont see how they swear themselves to w/e they do

  • Wow! I love listening to him. He brings the spirit and inspires me to want to know my Heavenly Father. If we follow Pres. Monson, we cant go wrong.

  • @bbradfordp - I agree that he is a true man of God, but I have issues with your wordings here. I think that you should have written that if we follow Jesus and the Holy Spirit whom inspires President Monson we cannot go wrong, not just President Monson alone.

  • he speaks as a prophet of God...however isn't a prophet of God....too bad he believes and millions believe so

  • The purpose of the Mormon Church is to break apart its members marriages and to preach divorce......The Mormon Church broke apart my marriage...and they will try to break apart every marriage on earth...The Mormon Church will not stop untill all but an "elite few" marriages are left...The Mormon Church is the Church of Divorce

  • I'm sorry about your marriage. But your claims are absurd.

Anyone at all familiar with the LDS Church knows that family is central to our beliefs. Divorce is not "preached", it is preached against and is intended to be used only when no resolution is possible. Do a search for Dallin H. Oaks and divorce, and read his recent conference talk as just one example.

Also, statistics show that divorce rate in the LDS Church is far lower than the national average.

  • You can actually hear some of Elder Oaks talk by searching for "Marriage and Divorce" on Youtube and watching the video from MormonMessages.

  • @tacotravel wow you must be on your period or somethin...

  • @lds9999,type in david asscherick in the search bar and listen to a sermon by him.

Then reply back and tell me who most likely and why speaks more like a man of God.

  • I listened to him. He's a fine public speaker but so are thousands of others.

President Monson speaks as a man of God, because he has been called as the Lord's living prophet on the earth today.

  • Thomas S Monson sounds so lethargic!

He sounds more like someone who has been told what to say!

If you what to hear what a man of God sounds like...type in david asscherick here on you tube and compare them both!

  • @hyrem18 He HAS been told what to say...by God.

I wonder if you would have condemned Moses as well? Exodus 4:10 "'Moses said to the LORD, "O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue."

A man of God does not equal charisma. I disagree with your perception of President Monson anyway--he's a great speaker!

  • @hyrem18 LETHARGIC???? OK, well he's around 82/83 years old...when you've reached that age, i would expect you to speak so slowly as well! I think he speaks very well for his age! PLUS, its more important for someone to hear and understand a PROPHET of God rather than him or any other President or Apostle to speak fast and unclear.

  • I'm gonna get baptized as LDS next weekend...I'm sooo excited!!!!

  • Congratulations on your baptism!

  • @lds9999 .....thank you! It was really nice! and I was confirmed at my church on Sunday which was my birthday :) what a nice birthday gift for me?! what a blessing!

  • @6blessed i was baptized on 10 DEC 2009 and i can tell you as a new member, it's an incredible feeling to be apart of such a grand belief. It's more than just believing, but holding the faith of years to come! you will admire and honor what is so true! Congratulations on your baptism fellow member!

  • look at how clean a record the lds church has compared to some of the other churchs. i know the lds church is true and i am a devote mormon. i have been baptized as an lds and i cant imagine a better religion. i live in utah which is a state that is rich with mormons and i am glad i am one of them. the book of mormon is true and so is the LDS church. monson is a good preseident.

  • And being baptized as a mormon ( Im not religious, just faithful ) I place the Bible over the book of mormon any day. The Bible is the most important book and truth in the world.

  • @MetalxGoDsx3 ....so is the book of mormon! they both are!!! but the book of mormon was translated by Joseph smith...and yes he was a prophet!! I believe he was!!!!! and still is!!!!

  • Look, Ima tell you guys something. I can look at a person, in their eyes, and see if they're real or not. Not real as in tangible because of course they're real in that way. But real as in how they carry themselves, how they speak, their spirit, and I tell you I look at this man and see it in him.

  • Just attended the dedication of the Oquirrh Mountain LDS Temple and heard President Monson speak. He is a living, breathing Chicken Soup book for the Latter-day Saint/Mormon/Christian soul. I can tell God loves this man, and he loves God.

  • That was an amazing dedication. Thank you for sharing your testimony, that is wonderful.

  • i can only say that you have to compare both of the bible and the book of mormon, what kinds of trials, and what kinds of disbeleafs do the book of mormon people they have and the people of the bible have? do both of the books of the bible and of the book of mormon have kings and judes in there own time? do they both have an account wonder in the wilderness both in the bible and the book of mormon?

  • I'm not sure I follow your point here.

  • Thomas S. Monson seems like a very wonderful man, but unfortunately he is following the wrong religion.

Thomas Monson........ it is never too late to convert to Catholicism ........

I really hope you convert Monson because you seem like a very sweet man....

  • haha i would pay big money to see somebody try to convert the Prophet of God to a different religion

  • Me Too!! lol when you have the truth do you really even look for other things! lol

  • He is not the prophet or even a prophet

  • How do you know?

  • Because it was revealed to me in this fullness of times of this last dispensation!

  • How?

  • Your pope said once that either one of two churches was true. He said it was either the LDS church or the Catholic church. I know in my heart in my heart and soul that the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints is true and I always will.

  • Loving, happy, gentle president Monson!!!!

  • Thou fool, reproaches The Book of Mormon at 2 Nephi 29:6, that shall say: A Bible, we have got a Bible, and we need no more Bible. Have Mormons, however, ever pondered the apostle Pauls stern words in the Bible at Galatians 1:8 ?(KJ): Though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

  • We have the Bible, Book Of Mormon, Doctrine And Covenants and Pearl Of Great Price. We have the fullness of the gospel.

  • well, again, i mean no disrespect or to cause division among your religion.. i understand that the book of mormon is what you guys call a bible aid. Still i truly and honestly wanted to know why? I can see if the bible aid was referring only to the bible (Gen- REV) but the book of mormon has books in it that does not correspond with 2 Tim 3:16. So why is it considered a bible aid?

  • Because it helps to interpret some of the more confusing parts of the bible...It just solidifies everything the bible says but obviously uses different examples and is the record of a different time period.

  • Want a better understand of the bible? Get a concordance and greek/hebrew dictionary. The book of mormon is a 19th century work of fiction that plagiarized the bible and was rewritten to better work around the confines of a new religion.

  • Actually, the Book of Mormon is impossible to being a fictional work, with all everything that is contained in it. If you look at the events around it, you will see what really went on.

  • The Church is too perfect to deny. The Temple is a living example of God's love.

  • No it wasn't. There isn't even any sourced to promote that ignorant perspective.

  • Ha ha ha. Any serious antimormon knows that the BOM in no way plagierized the bible. I'm not religious, but seriously, The Book of Mormon is way more encouraging to be a good person because it is not established upon compasion and other weak principles as most of religious books.

  • Do you know any other Churches where every Prophet was 100% correct?

    Cme to Church.....

  • Actually, there aren't any major religions believing in living prophets besides the mormon church. I think Monson is a nice person. I don't know if a Prophet, but he really makes some good points that are totally different and better than random christianity.

  • He may tell nice stories and preach beautiful sermons. But this does not make a man a prophet. What has he ever prophesied? Where are the spiritual gifts? And - prophets are not called in church organisations, that is man´s way. God´s way is differnt as the Bible clearly shows.

  • He prophsies everything that God tells him.

  • I am proud to be a member of the true church of Jesus Christ. Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet of God and I love listening to his words. I am the only member in my family and it is dificult sometimes because I am only a teenager, but I testify that everything I do is worth it. I follow the prophet's teachings not because I am brainwashed, but because I know without a doubt that what he speaks is true and will bring me blessings if I follow him.

  • You speak based on faith, i mean no disrespect but from my knowledge of mormons, you guys dont really care for the bible? the book of mormon is what you hold above the bible, is it not?

  • We believe both the Bible and the Book of Mormon are the word of God. Together they go hand in hand as witnesses of the life, divine mission, death and resurrection of the Savior Jesus Christ.

  • Why is it a new testimony of Jesus Christ where in Galatians 1:8, Paul, under inspiration by Jah, writes saying even if himself (we) or an angel, preach another gospel to you about Christ, let him be accursed. ?

  • I think it's important to understand what "gospel" means here. What do you believe the gospel is?

  • Gospel means good news... not just any good news thou. It is a specific good news from a definite source about a particular subject. in fact, its a message that God has appointed to be announced to all mankind.

  • Right. To quote Elder Uchtdorf (an apostle), "The gospel of Jesus Christ is good news, glad tidings, and much more. It is the message of salvation as repeatedly announced by Jesus Christ and His apostles and prophets."

That is the gospel that both the Bible and the Book of Mormon preach! There is not "another gospel".

  • Ezekiel 37: 16-17 "Moreover, thou son od man, take the, one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:"

"And join then one to another into one stick: and they shall become one in thine hand" (KJV)

The stick means scroll, and scrolls eventually became books. The stick of Judah is the Holy Bible, and the stick of Ephraim is the BOM.

  • Does the BOM still count as the stick of Ephraim if is provably false? That is if it can be shown definitively that Joseph Smith did not, in fact, translate the BoM? Also, how did he go about translating it?

  • Joseph Smith used an ancient device that God gave to the ancient prophets called Urium and Thummum. It was with the Golden Plated when he was given them. He used this to translate the ancient language after God endowed him with the gift to read and understand the ancient language

  • No, we hold all the scriptures as equal. The scriptures include, the Bible, Book Of Mormon, Doctrine And Covenants and Pearl Of Great Price, and do not hold one above the other.

  • That man is a prophet of God. The church he leads is true, it is God's church restored on earth. I testify that this gospel is true and that the Book of Mormon, like the Bible, is scripture. And I testify that by the Spirit of God, you too may know the truth. Anyone who is sincere and honest, with good intentions, can have the truth of this gospel manifested to them by the power of the Holy Ghost. According to Jesus and Heavenly Father, I say that you must repent of your sins and follow Christ.

  • Amen brother (or sister if you're a woman)! Keep a strong faith and don't let evil and wickedness overcome you.

  • Tell that to the Catholics and Protestants.

See what kinds of anwers to that you'll get.

  • What a kind spirit President Monson shares in his talks. I am no Mormon but his sweet spirit I feel when I hear his words. God Bless him and the LDS Church members.

  • La Conferencia 178

  • It's amazing that people listen to this and think it's so profound. You people need to stop defering your thinking to people that are only establishing controls over your minds and lives. Can't you see the phony approach? If this man is truly a man of God, how come he sanctions the denouncement of former general authorities as teaching false doctrine? In 5 yrs from now, will we be told to regard his words as false? Do your homework folks, you will be surprised to see what the church used 2b

  • Open your heart and mind--he is a man of God.

I have done my homework and am shocked at how critics try to distort the history or doctrine of the Church.

Have you ever read the Book of Mormon in its entirety? The vast majority of critics have not. I would encourage you to visit mormon*org and request a free copy of the Book of Mormon to find out for yourself, rather than based on second-hand information.

  • I don't know who you have been listening to, but I do not recall at any time a general authority denouncing what a former prophet has stated to be doctrine. Out of my 11 years of being a member of this church, I have come to experience the piece it brings to listen and follow to the Brethren. They never contradict eachother in doctrine, the support each doctrine taught by former prophets and eachother.

  • That was beautiful.

  • i heard about this guy from those guys that go door to door. hes wise and i like him but i dont believe he is a prophet.

  • He definitely is wise. Why do you have problems believing he is a prophet? Have you prayed about it?

  • I really believe that he is a God´s Prophet, because when i hear him, he really speaks to my heart and my deepest feelings.

  • President Monson is an ultimate storyteller and encourager of our time. I sustain him as a Prophet of God. He is so encouraging. When I was first baptized, I rooted for Elder Packer to become the next prophet, but 4 years later, 2005, I know that President Monson is a true Prophet of God. May God bless our Apostles and Prophets. May we have a powerful spiritual revelation.

  • Thank you Lord for making this talk available to we who have

difficulties in getting out to Church meetings.

  • Hmm... I'm not Mormon, but I like him as a speaker.

  • We build our foundations of faith and testimonies of truth of Jesus Christ the one true God and Remeemer of mankind.

Prayer is the soul desire to express our words and thoughts behind them. Approach Him in prayer with sincerity and meaning and listen for His answers.

  • President Monson is a wonderful man - I love his talks and his sense of humor. If history repeats itself and stays true, he should become the next President of the Church, and I believe he will be a wonderful president, another whom I will be glad to tell my kids about someday.

  • Yes, he is wonderful. They just announced on the news that he is the next prophet and President Eyring is his 1st counselar and President Uchedorf is his 2nd counselar.
