The relevance of this is absurd. I agree the studies may perpetuate other areas of useful technology such as space travel, modern/local transport etc. However, manipulating events past or future no matter the intentions is simply asking for trouble. Engage in research, but lay off history. You (The person who discovers) may not even be born as a result. Thats best case scenario... The most educated tend to be the biggest fucking idiots from time to time.
It seems to me it breaks the barrier of logic, not just light speed. How did they make the jump from "this moves data faster than light" to time travel? As near as I can tell, the two are not necessarily coupled. Just because something is moving faster than light doesn't mean it's moving faster than time.
Time travel to the past will never be possible, the closest thing would be to record the exact position and state of every atom everywhere (also impossible) and even if you could do that you would not be in the actual past and could not change the outcome of anything it would just be like a movie.
Some time in the distant future it might be feasible to record a small area for a short time, but fairly pointless really.
Time travel forward = freeze yourself. Suspended animation for some time.
we can already do this through movies and writing. I can read something written thousands of years ago and to me it is instant. Thought can travel thought time and space detached from the mind
this is horse crap, if this guy could really move something faster than light and prove it he would be the most famous person in the world and physicists would be lining up to take turns kissing his feet.
@Zurround100 Quantum tunneling and quantum entanglement is faster than light, its instant. Quantum tunneling and quantum entanglement has been proven in plants' photosynthesis process. Keyword PROVEN
Question #1: If you sent something back in time, who was there to catch receive it?
Question #2: How is using a light beam proof of time travel? Its still a product of technology, but mainly something that defeated the forward motion of time. If it did happen, what were to consequences of that event? Something blow up?
Question #3: Your a reputable scientist who believes in the seriousness of you discovery, why let it be dumbed down by tv producers.
sounds like another way to get people linked up...just create a reality that never even happened but the observer is elated anyway. not that i think friendly scientists would ever do such a thing.
there are no problems with time travel, because anything that would happen would have already been..the past is already reality..and i believe the future is written also, say i go two weeks into the future and get winning lottery numbers, but i dont see who the winner is..i play, i win, i havent altered anything because i didnt change who won..there will not be commercial time travel..why draw attention..instead of trying to create theories of why or why not time travel is possible, just do it
Time travel could cause so many problems it seems improbable that anyone intelligent enough to accomplish it would even attempt it. The potential for disaster is tremendous.
So cute but all fiction.

I believe that there is only one time, the now and our perception of time is only energy exerting its function... giving the illusion of time.

probly with atoms but not the human form. unless you can put the atoms percisely in the same place with no random spaces.
