Hey, I was wondering.. has she ever bit you? People say, girl chinchillas bite more, that true? I'm getting a chinchilla for my birthday, and they only have girl chinchillas where I live. Well, in the pet stores they do, only like an hour and a half away they have boys. So, are girls nice? Do they bite you hard, also do they act like dogs kind of? Like, do they act like a human kinda, and comforts you and lays down on you. Thanks, just answer me back on my youtube.
I have a girl and she does bite but not hard, if they try to push you away with there little hands then stop what u are doing. my little one is very bad and if she wants out of the cage she will bite me to let me know she is upset with me.. O the mean faces i get from her
No they arent like dogs! They are social creatures and enjoy human company but they can also be very independent and keep themselves company for a while and will let you know if theyre not happy with you unlike most dogs! And females tend to be slightly more aggressive since they are the dominent sex in the chin world but its very rare any chinchilla would bite to hurt unless they were highly distressed or felt threatened so I wouldnt worry. Like okwhatthen said just the occasional nibble :)
i used to have chin and degus, id let them out pretty much all day to roam free, when i wanted them back in the cage id just tell them to go home , they would all go back in there cage.
Young is better when you are a first time owner. Take getting a chin into consideration... they are very sensitive and require playtime and cleaning of the cage every day! It is always nice to get a rescue once you know what youre doing. Never ever house a male and female together. DO YOUR RESEARCH!
i have a chinchilla....He is evil, His name is Rocco and was the runt of his litter. Nobody wanted him.. It was sad. But now he has a family and we spoil him. His name at the petshop was meatball. Cuz he was so small!
How's the temperament of these pets? Do you really have to work at a bond over a long period of time, or are they skiddish and run away, grouchy/bitey??? Would you recommend getting one at a young age? Thanks for any info you have
U kno... im more into the exotic sort of pets like Tarantula's, Snakes, Bearded Dragons... those sorts of things, but watching this just made me want to get a Chinchilla lol, does any1 kno if its possible to legally get one in Aus?? They seem like a brilliant pet, and yes... i kno theyre nocturnal and everything...
hey skate4begginrz!!!!!!!! i have a chinchilla the same age as yours. why the cage is smelly is probley cuz' of a sprayer. hope i helped!!! i <3 chinchillas!!!
my 2 chinchillas, about 3-4 months old, female, stink very much even though i throw away the poop from the shelves every day and clean the bottom where all the pee and "odor-free" stuff is.
can someone please help me with this big issue im having?
Sure they do. They are known to never bite, just keep in mind everything that has teeth can use them. They grow a special bond to their owner. Not a kids pet though, they are very fragile. Just like any pet when you first buy it you're gonna have to spend a bit on the proper things it needs but after that it's cheap maintained. No baths requires either, they just need a jar with special dust they use to brush and clean their coats. They live to be about 15 average but they can reach their 20's.
If you're ok with hving the same pet for a long time, and have a cold house, and have enough money/experience to take care of a infant child! Then chinchillas are perfect pets.
yes i have 2 chinchillas and I'm thinking of breeding! 1 problem though is that they eat anything and everything but they r strictly vegetarians. They are adorable though and they live for 20 years or more! the oldest I've ever heard is i think 23!
so cute!!! I used to have 4 hamsters...chinchillas are just like giant hamsters...i found some free chinchillas in the newspaper that are still available...i might get them...but my mom doesn't want more rodents. o_0
this is great ijust got my chin and he bounces off the walls very energetic and will jump all over me like im not even there but when you first get near him hes skiddish
hey i have a question for ya. Are chinchillas scared of everyone? i know they arent the cuddley type of animals, but will they usually let some1 pet it if they no the person well?
fuck think how small chinchilias are and how large the coats they make out of it and theres WHOLE TON of them... anyways CUTE chinchilia mine is named Joey got him a week ago
Be very patient, don't rush things, make to read as much as possible and do tons of research. I'm about to get a few chinnies soon myself. I would recommend a breeder.
o wow...ur chinchilla is so tamed...i just got mines a week ago and she's scared of me...she wont let me hold her, and she's easily startled with any type of noise and she poops alot.....is that normal? how long did it take u to tame your chinchilla? im sooo impatient since I really want to build a relationship with my chinchilla but its hard since shes a nervous wreck all the time
You have to be patient with her. I like to play with mine in the bathroom and let them run all over me I also try to pet them when they are close. Try giving her treats but don't pick her up when you give them. She'll start to like you and even let you pet her eventually.
actually according to wikipedia they generally live 8-10 in most cases. A 20 year old chin is about as rare as a 115 year old human. The oldest recorded was 21.
Haha. Yes, they do poop but, they are actually very active and are great for playing eith, outside the cage. (I own one)And be;ive it or not, these animals are practiclly oderless! Haha. Just thought I'd put my two cents in(:
Mine too, no one will replace him, I hate it when people's pets die and then they get a new pet to replace it, some people are just too shallow, we need to stop supporting the pet trade.
Actually, people replace there pets mostly because they find comfort in it. The dont want to dwel on the thought of the dead animal. And plus, its giving a new animal a home(:
anaheim06, this is a great video. And it reminds me so much of my chinchilla, Niko, who was attacked by my dog on 4.1.08. Your chinchilla was soooo cute <3 and I hope that she had a good life full of happiness :)
This comment is to anyone who wants to get a chinchilla: Today I went to the pet store and saw a good one there. It was at PetCo in Covington. It looked very playful, and was bouncing off the walls of it's cage - literally!
They can live for anywhere up to 20 years in captivity yes but it does vary a lot. There are some that only live for 4 or 5 years even though they are very well cared for and 8 isn't too bad an age!!! My oldest boy is coming up for 11 now and hes not as spritely as he used to be!

i have 2 chins mine where buy one get one free. sadly i wish it wasnt so. they only reason we got one free was because they where making up for the first chinchilla thats died due to them
SOOO cute! Teeny paws!Cute tails! Takes 500 of 'em to make 1 coat! Sniffle, sad. Cute Chinchilla, my friemd's sis has one, although she doesn't like it anymore. I can't get one because I have 3 cats!!! Tee Hee!
Awwl man i also wanted one but i had to convince my mom that i can keep it by doing housework FTW?! and im not really good at house work, yawn had to work harder. btw i would pay for it myself but she still hate the smell, I KNOW HOW TO GET RID OF THE SMELL but she still don't believe me

It stresses them out. An owner can fullfill a chinchillas needs by simply paying attention, feeding , cleaning getting it to trust them and giving them everything he/she needs. If the chinchilla is taken away from others of the same gender then that is something you cannot fill.

darkkiller07 4 years ago
a chin is quite expensive - not just 2 buy it also the costs for it's food and the right cage
but i think the gr8est price is the time such a cute animal needs :)
