  • @MaidPocket - Hey asshole, what's worse is a Jap rapper. What the fuck do you have to rap about? You guys all look like fucking idiots.

  • Hey Sam, are you working for IMADR with debito?

  • @TerhiTheFinn

Even people who used to work with him dislike him now.

  • Arudou Debito is a RACIST and the author of a book entitled "Yellow Little Jap".

  • @vapsuhvvaowih obiviously a very well informed individual you are sir^^

  • @TkyoSam - Is Debit living in Canada now? I heard that he quit his teaching job in Hokkaido and moved to Canada.

  • @shimokita2 As far as I know he is still in Japan dude, saw him a couple months ago.

  • @TkyoSam - I was at JALT here in Tokyo yesterday. Word is, he quit his job in Sapporo and has gone to Canada. I was surprised to hear that. If I've got bad info, I apologize, but those in the room seemed very sure of him quitting and leaving for Canada.

  • @shimokita2 Hmmm, well I mena, whatever, I bet if he was doing something big like that he would eventually announce it on his site.

  • @TkyoSam - You're friends with him, right? Shoot him an e-mail and ask. However, that's what I was told on the weekend.

  • @TkyoSam - Hi Sam, Debito had resigned from his teaching post at Hokkaido Information University as of March 31, 2011.

By the way, which pub is this in Tokyo. Looks like a nice place to have a drink!

  • @TkyoSam - Sam. You ever find out if he's left Japan or not? Nothing has been announced yet on his site.

  • Jeez, why do all these debito videos attract such douchebags? And not to mention quitters. Debito is doing a great thing for foreigners. Unless you wanna stick with racism? Also, I don't know how people can represent what "most japanese" think. The only people I've meet who do not like Debito and what he stands for are just right-wing people who most likely would justify racism in their own country anyway. Maybe you people should go home and let the real foreigners change the country.

  • @cqallenwalker

LOL!! I'm afraid they can't go home because people in America, Canada, Britain, Australia, New Zealand don't want them either!! ^_^

  • デビトのサポーターはバカっぽいの多いなww

  • @poodle8noodle

Yes there are lots of rejects in Japan who follows Debito san.

  • Comment removed

  • I love Japan and the women of course. if you want to see racism it will always be all around you. So open your mind and GET GET GET GET OVER IT. Or go home!

  • Arudo Debito is known to be a whiny troublemaker. I'm an American who's lived in Japan for 2 and a half years, and neither I or none of the other people I know who've lived there take this guy seriously.

Sorry to hear he's your "role model" TkyoSam, I had unsubscribe just for that :(

  • oh noez! Somebody who has been in Japan as long as I have has an opinion different from mine and now has unsubbed from me :O !!!!

Well whatever dude, while you're off and hating Japan I'm off getting laid and eating sushi^^

  • Dream boy you are dreaming this is real.

  • Thanks Sam!

  • @dreamboy316

Yes he's a whiny troublemaker. It's scary that he has cult following these days creating anti-establishment, anti-Japan atmosphere when in fact it's their own damn fault for not learning the Japanese language, customs, manners and cultures.

ASSIMILATE- if non-Japanese wants to live in Japan.

GRATITUDE- that's the key word I notice to be missing among non-Japanese living in Japan.

  • @novajoke Wait, wait wait. If that is the case, then should black people during American slavery should have just accepted white culture and customs and accept being a second-class citizen? "Why, those black people must have been whiny troublemakers and its their own fault that they were living through hell because they won't accept their life as lesser beings". Debito encourages assimilation in the nation, just won't tolerate discrimination. We don't just have to be "gaijin". We can be human.

  • @cqallenwalker

Wait wait wait can you calm down a bit?? I'm afraid Japanese people won't understand what you've mentioned since we do not learn history of America other than Hollyweird movies.

"Debito encourages assimilation in the nation"

Really?? Show me some examples...... other than dying your hair to black, eating natto, ramen, basashi, etc.

  • @novajoke I'm pretty sure his hair color is natural. Besides, if you want examples of him encouraging assimilation, then why don't you read his blog? Just recently for example, he asked his readers their thoughts on Darling wa Gaikokujin on if it supports assimilation or not. That's not the only thing though. I explained the black slavery issue right here in my post knowing that you might not get it. If you have an issue with him, then tell him. Don't just whine here.

  • Not to mention, its not like he is telling people to "dye their hair black" or anything. Blond hair, brown hair, whatever the fact of the matter is that a human living in the nation of japan should be treated just as equally as anyone else living in Japan. People who live in the country, pay taxes and contribute to the society should have a right to be treated just the same as the native Japanese. You want NJ to give gratitude? You need to earn it. But, I guess that makes me a "reject".

  • @cqallenwalker

You want NJ to give gratitude? You need to earn it. But, I guess that makes me a "reject".

LMAO! Gratitude should come naturally instead of asking for it. Yes you have to earn it but I'm afraid that certain segment of population do not assimilate quite well into Japanese society. They think they are "entitled" because they think they are this and that because they teach lameass mcEnglish.

  • @cqallenwalker

As for slavery issue, I'm afraid you are comparing to Apples to peanuts. I've noticed that people like to play "race card" game to justify their actions/stance when in fact it's their own damn fault for not learning the Japanese language, customs, cultures, manners, how to assimilate into Japanese society, etc. etc.

Good grief you want to compare foreigners in Japan vs. slaves.

  • @novajoke Custom and tradition does not mean its ok for some things to happen such as being barred from onsens. I can understand if a couple of guys were not allowed because THEY didn't obey the rules, but denying all foreigners to a onsen is just not acceptable. I understand that some people get what they deserve for not even trying to be part of japanese society, but it becomes a problem whenever one DOES and they are still discriminated against.

  • @cqallenwalker

What are you now mumbling about? Oh yeah Otaru Onsen. Let's see how many Onsens are in Japan but one Onsen ban Gaijins because Russian sailors trashed the place so there's something wrong with Japanese society.

I'll keep that in mind next time I visit America. One guy stares at me because I'm Japanese so there must be someting wrong with America. I see a racist bumper sticker back of FORD truck mocking Japanese cars so America is a racist society.

  • @cqallenwalker

Hey I'll try to go to a "biker" bar next time and see how they feel if I brag about Honda Motorcycles are better than Harleys. If anyone calls me racist slurs, there's something wrong with American society right ? If I go to all Latino bars and they call me "Chinos", America is a racist society right?

Why would I waste my time to find "racism" in America but Debito san and his clans enjoys "racism" in Japan so they feel superior than ordinary Japanese people.

  • @novajoke Racism exists in every country. I do not approve of racism in america or in any country. He just so happens to live in Japan. If there is racism in Japan, he wants to take care of it. If he lived in America, I'm sure he would do the same thing. The same goes for me. So are you saying that I only "find racism" to feel superior? I have four words for you: improving quality of life. Who would WANT to live with racism wherever it is? Can you prove that he is doing this for his own kicks?

  • @cqallenwalker

LOL for he just happens to live in Japan. Gee I wonder why without showing gratitude most of the time?

If racism bothers you that much, why don't you go to India, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, China where racism are much much worse than peaceful Japan?

Hey I got a better idea. Why don't you enlist so you can serve your country because racism bother you that much right? Oh yeah most Gaijin hates to discuss about Patriotism from their native country.

  • @novajoke Oh, how cute. Calling me a "gaijin". Aren't you clever? When all else fails, just reduce the guy to a "gaijin" and it all works out. How does enlisting in the military help fight racism anyway? A lot of racists are in the military as it is. I spread the news about racism around the world, so that includes the nations you have mentioned. Racism is racism. It doesn't matter what country it is, it is something that must be stopped.

  • @cqallenwalker

You might want to learn more about Japanese culture when it comes to the word "Gaijin". LOL for people taking offense to using the word "illegal Aliens" in America with "Undocumented" people since that's a politically correct way to describe criminals who came to your country illegally.

I only suggeted you enlist because you love America right? Or are you one of those many Clowns in Japan who hates patriotism in their native country?

  • @cqallenwalker

    "When all else fails..."

Fail what? Yes majority of Gaijins fails to assimilate into Japanese society but I APPLAUD some who do assimilate because they worked hard. Look what's happening in America now?? I thought English was the official language but I guess that's not "politically correct" so it's ok not to learn English since Spanish is also accepted as well? See for yourself in So. Cal./ state of California.

  • @cqallenwalker

"Aren't you clever? When all else fails, just reduce the guy to a "gaijin" and it all works out."

There you go with playing "race card" game when it comes to Japan.

Good thing I'm writing you in English so you can understand how ordinary Japanese feels about Gaijins living in Japan when it comes to lameass Race card game.

  • @novajoke Oh, because if you were to speak in Japanese, a "gajin" like me could NEVER get it. Gaijin is a offensive slur. There is a reason why it isn't broadcast. Whatever, I'm done talking with you. You do not represent japan as a whole and don't try to come off as it. This conversation is over. I can't believe I even spent this much time even talking with you. Goodbye.

  • @cqallenwalker "Gaijin is a offensive slur"

Said who?? Oh yeah Debito san so there must be wrong with Japanese society.

I can't believe we have many Gaijins coming over to my country acting like they are this and that telling Japanese people not to use certain words and blah blah blah because it fits their political agenda.??

  • @cqallenwalker

I'm asking you for some examples since you are familiar with this subject right?

Darling wa Gaijin is nothing more than interracial relationship whether they are in Japan, America, Canada, etc.

"I explained the black slavery issue right here in my post knowing that you might not get it. "

WTF? I don't get it?? Why don't you ask ancestors as to why "they" didn't get it? So Gaijins in Japan are treated as "slaves" then? Yeah mcEikaiwa Sensei Clowns got "pimped" though.

  • @cqallenwalker

"If you have an issue with him, then tell him. Don't just whine here."

Aren't you the one that's having issues?? Debito san and other Gaijin soldiers who follows him are nothing more "propagandalists" who benefits greatly by their agenda without thinking about unintended consequences. I get the last laugh since they don't tell their agenda to Japanese people but to useless mcEikaiwa Sensei Clowns and other nonsense oddballs living in Japan.

  • There will always be people who will assert their ego through the use of nationalism, which as far as I'm concerned, is synonymous with racism. But honestly, it's not such a bad situation, you just get the occasional intelligence-deprived average guy who cannot assert himself in other ways, and thus is forced into this kind of relationship (More or less). So be courteous towards these people, "If you smile and laugh, it will fuck him up." (He must know you understand him though:p)

  • Best comment yet on this vid^^ Damn right! Stay black!

  • Fighting for an increased awareness concerning the rights of an, ethnic or otherwise minority, seems to be a goal worth pursuing, however, if for any reason it should antagonize people against you further (and the situation bids it can be avoided in most cases), then avoiding it is the more sound choice indeed, as Dave has said numerous times. So he remains intent in his focus and determination of fighting for basic human rights (For e.x a law against discrimination being passed)... :D

  • GO~home PIG !!! his not japanese!!! arudou debito is A BIg fat white Monkey!!!

    Fuck you!!!

  • This person's name is "David Aldwinckle " and he might be a Japanese citizen but he is NOT Japanese!

  • I am not a fan of Mr. Aldwinckle however you should be informed that "Japanese" is not a race it is a nationality. Since Mr. Aldwinckle holds Japanese nationality that makes him Japanese. Are you really that thick? If you said he is not "Asian" then of course you would be correct but then again who would argue against such a claim?

  • Comment removed

  • Agreed with Gaff76, maybe he should read the story too. I think that he's just using human right thing as a form of self-publicity. Gaijin will always remains as Gaijin and that wil never change.

  • I think that William Adams' observation of 1615 still holds true (Anglacised):

"I hold my place here by the leave of my lord Tokugawa [Ieyasu]. More than that however, despite all the affectations and titles I have acquired, I remain the English pilot from Gillingham, and that is what I shall always be."

  • Very nice work there. I just finished reading Samurai William and so much of what was written about his story still holds true today. Despite your achievements, you'll always be a gaijin san. As long, as that's cool with you, Japan is a really nice place to live.

  • Living here kicks ass ;)

  • @TkyoSam

If living in Japan kicks ass you might want to show more gratitude towards Japan.

To be fair, I showed great gratitude when I studied in the States instead of illegal aliens coming over your country taking jobs and not paying taxes, and healthcare bills.

  • This guy is a troublemaker, period.

I have lived here longer then Debito and haven't experienced a fraction of the shit he comes up with. Typical english teacher mentality, "Why won't these locals change?". Why indeed? There are 250 million of them and one of you, who's the minority?

I always thought you were a bit thick Tkyosam, now you proved it.

  • of course im thick, thats what my dermatologist is always saying anyway...

  • @BaldBerlitzBoy You've lived there longer than he has, yet you don't know how many people live in Japan?

  • But I still dont like him

  • No offense to your role model, but he sounds like another complaining American...'They didn't adhere to the fact maybe I didn't speak perfect Japanese' well there's his first fault: they don't speak perfect japanese and aren't looking for it.They are looking for the level of Japanese EVERYBODY ELSE HAS.If your going to a place to work and you cant even contribute a common skill, they dont need to be rewarding you for it you need to be working harder. However,I respect Sam and so I respect this man

  • he got a beard

  • Now I may be biased, but on the one hand David is far too confrontational in his methods - as if he is a lawsuit looking for a target.

However, the passive, Japanese way really does not seem to get anywhere for the incomers at times. He might rock boats, and make enemies but at least he raises issues and will not be shut up.

  • Dude, its in the vid's description. Easy to remember too.

  • LOL. I personally like his style of writing. His articles rock. They opened my eyes to the whole concept of "human rights" and how they affect and shape modern society.

  • I used to support him but sometimes I felt debito himself was a racist.

By the way debito isn't professor, he is an associate professor.

    Substantially English teacher.

  • Thanks for the clarification, didn't know.

Sometimes I feel he searches for shit that is wrong and makes more of a big deal about shit than it needs to be, but overall I think he is doing something good for most of the foreigners here.

  • lawsuit, dispraise, protest,,, he's just ,,that's all. Arudou Debito, press one's own self-righteous values on others. and eager in self-righteous condemnation. japanese so tired of Arudou smug attitude. i advise you as sensible Japanese. don't trust him. Arudou Debito is famous fucking troublemaker. (anti‐Japanese activist, very big liar...nuisance fake japanese) many many japanese abhor him. if you want to stay japan, you had better cut connection. Arudou is harmful to you
  • Dude, he eats chicken dude. Come on, dude, CHICKEN!

  • Great comment!!

    I'm 100% agree with you!

  • Hi,

    Great comment!!

    I'm 100% agree with you!

  • He's also very fat.

  • So you're saying the OP should stay away from Debito if he wants to stay in Japan if he associates with him? And why is this? Because Debito fights for non-Japanese human rights in Japan?

I find this very interesting and sad. Japan may be a world power, but it sure is lacking very far behind in human rights compared to western nations. If no one says anything about bad things going on, no one will do anything about it.

  • I'm waiting for the day when you accidently punch the camera during your little outro... haha!

Thanks for doing this interview, btw. Don't mind the haters.

  • hahaha, it's always funny when people see people that are better then themselves so they lash out :)

  • LOL agreed. I think our friend Ainokami1986 is all bothered by the fact. Maybe his brown shirt is a couple sizes too small. Poor guy.

  • i...uh....wow, fuckin' eh dude

  • I respect his commitment to exposing japanese prejudice and racial problems, but he's too wrapped up in the American foundation of lofty egalitarianism, and not looking deeper into the fabric of Japanese society. There are problems, but they need to be solved Japan-style, not with Debito's American solution of law suits and angry columns.

  • "There are problems, but they need to be solved Japan-style, not with Debito's American solution of law suits and angry columns. "

This arguement is bunk. Japan style (whatever that is) can and does include these elements. Or are you the official spokeperson for what is and what is not "japan style"? lol.

  • They are an ancient Pagan civilizaion. We can't expect them the BEHAVE civilly underneath their veneer of modern toys and uniform manner (believe me, I know).

  • I can't harbor too much respect for a man who admits that his initial motivation for going to japan was that he wanted a japanese girlfriend. He also sounds absurdly pompous in railing on about how he just doesn't feel American anymore - as if he had ascended a higher moral ladder. It's not as if I'm proud of the rampant immorality that America represents - because I'm not - but it's just not humble of him to completely reject his own background.

  • lol, it's his right to reject it, it's his life, people who don't like his opinions, well, he doesn't give a fuck, that's kinda why I admire him cause I don't give a fuck either.

  • I don't know, though. Not giving a fuck sometimes is a bad thing. Especially when it's a self-delusional and ego-centric not-giving-a-fuck. He's was raised American - and no matter how hard he tries, he will never be truly Japanese. And judging by the casual conversation (which is sometimes unfair to go on, I realize), it's hard to take seriously his commitment to Japanese civil rights when he came to Japan because he liked the women.

  • I think he lost a lot of credibility when he divorced his wife like two years after he got his citizenship... somehow when you look like just another fat bearded American who can't adjust to Japanese life the calls for equality and stuff don't carry the same 'weight' (haha)

  • I agree with you but on the subject of Japanese women... a brainwashed lot they are

  • I saw this guy give a guest lecture at Amherst College a few years ago. He's really cool!

  • that dude is famous dude!

  • Wow, awesome that you got Debito on here. When I first started looking at Japan vloggers, I went looking hoping that he had a vlog - Debito, you should totally start up a channel and work it into your Blog! Anyway, I've been reading Debito's blog since I first came to live in Japan in 99 and followed the onsen lawsuit, and occasionally referred to it for general legal rights info. This is the sort of content I wish I could find on YT more often. Great job, man!

    Peace

  • Good stuff. You mentioned that Debito had unique perspectives on PR, naturalization, and house buying. All true, but Danny Choo's article on house buying in JP is the best.

  • very interesting stuff sam. good job. I'll check all the videos out when I get a chance.

  • keeping it real like always

  • hello,TkyoSam, I'm japanese. i advise you, don't trust him. Arudou Debito is famous troublemaker. (anti‐Japanese activist, very big liar...nuisance fake japanese) many many japanese abhor him. if you want to stay japan, you had better cut connection. Arudou is harmful to you thx.
  • I agree 100%

  • yes i agree as well

  • univerman777 -

    "fake japanese"..?

"if you want to stay japan, you had better cut connection"..??

What....do you speak for all Japanese or something? Are you the emperor? Take that narrowminded ijime nihonjinron bullshit back to whatever tiny farm town you came from. The year is 2008, peasant.

  • *2009 I mean

  • Ainokami1986 - What you think and what reality is are two different things, my fascist friend. You say he's "screwing around in another's homeland" - it is his homeland - where he pays taxes, owns property, and even contributes professionally to japan's (lackluster) university education system. Think before you type, asshat.

  • Yeah rite,he is just an immigrant. If he doesn't like how japanese run their country, then leave. U are the one who should use ur brain before typing ASSHAT!

  • Ainokami1986 - "just an immigrant"? he's a J-citizen with the EXACT same status as you (if you are J-national). He can vote like you, use courts like you, carry a J-passport. He's your equal, farm boy. Why do you insist he is somehow not equal? Because you are a backward, uyoku worshipping peasant who represnts the comical leftover bits of pre-modern insecure Japan. In brief, you are an ingrown toenail. Annoying, but eventualy removed by modern 21st century thinking when u become inflamed.

  • Let's make thing clear...first, i'm not insisting that he's not equal to J-citizen (don't make things up, AMERICAN). Secondly, what i have mentioned is a fact, he's an immigrant and it could not be denied (Use piggy brain). third, if he wanna be a citizen of a country, then live with the culture instead of screwing other's culture and legistration to fit him...if he like to live the American way of life...then get the hell back to America.

  • U and him are just some pathetic American who are twisting fact for own wellfare, good for nothing American just like Bush who screw the world and other's homeland. Lastly...i'm not Japanese...u ASSHOLE!!!...American's ways isn't always the rite ways. U backward little brat!...this is 21st century...America isn't the grestest anymore.

  • and by this guy I mean Ainokami1986.

  • Your grammar made me want to tear out my own eyes.

  • @maxwell127 nice haha

  • i have a feeling japanese people are still racist to him be hide his back lol

  • Good to see Debito again so long after the Yamato Damacy interview. Way to go Sam.

  • Yowza! Yoyoyo TkyoSam. That was fast! Looking forward to seeing more episodes. Boy, I'd like to believe that the camera angle is what makes me look like such a blob in that chair!

    Debito

  • This is an interesting distraction from your regular videos.

    I like it!

I'd like to see more interviews in the future.

    Keep the originality coming!

  • Nice one Sam! Good to see you getting into it deep. I'd like to interview you and ask Japan questions and post it on your channel.

After all, it's your channel and your viewers want to see you.

  • Stay black motherfucker

  • dude 1st....er then you
