I learned alone my french grip and I do it kinda perfectly..... Whenever I try german grip its so basic easy... I never play german grip, only french and STILL I PLAY MUCH BETTER WITH GERMAN...
So really try both, dont stick with the easy... I only do french.
Obviously you can't and will never play drums... why don't you just kill yourself? That's the best thing you could do. Don't worry!!! I promise we will all say "thank you!"
i noticed quite often, that the french generally move like retards.
this hand technic looks really gay. it´s probably the handmovement they know from jerking of their fathers dick. so, yeah, the name french grip fits quite well
That's one of the stupidest statements I've ever heard. Do you even know how to play drums? Also, It's spelled Technique! Not technic dumbass! Some of the best drummers in the world play french grip retard!
i "have" to play with this grip now for a while cause i drummed too much one day and got a big blister on the third segment of my right index finger. o well good thing to learn
sweet vid. lately ive been really practising french grip and single strokes with fingers. i have this routines of bouncing 4 bounces of each finger. middle, ring, pinky, middle, ring, pinky.
just set my drums up lefty too. trying to really get the left side working for me!
I've used French grip whenever possible for 37yrs, without a hint of carpal tunnel syndrome. The trick is: ***Whenever Possible*** . When it's -not- possible, an ever-so slight turn of the wrist, & you're in American grip, again, & you're in German..what's the big deal? These aren't opposing opinions on how to play:The best players I've seen practice constantly turn through all 3 grips... maintaining consistency of tone & feel while varying grip is needed to be a complete player.
@KDMaz honestly you're probably more likely to get carpal tunnel with harder hitting strokes using the other two techniques due to the repercussions of hitting the drum harder. not to mention carpal tunnel usually begins with the swelling of certain parts of the wrist that blocks nerves that link to the fingers. this is definitely a good technique for drumming and should be mastered by anyone serious about drumming.
@Nach0Party I'm sorry if this disappoints you, but I don't think I was being completely serious when I posted that comment. I do use the french grip when using the ride in certain situations, but I play a heavier style of music and a more delicate hit isn't really needed as much. I suppose you could do the same thing with the french grip, but I don't use it like that in all situations.
weakest yes, but french grip may be the fastest if you arent using some sort of reverse control or the flying fingers stuff... because you can do all the fast stuff with any grip, but personally everyone i know who isnt using some sort of advanced strokes generally play their quick stuff with french grip... i myself use a lot of reverse control for 16th triplet stuff on the ride in german grip but everything else is fingers and french grip.
everyone that commented on this video is naive...all you guys wanna do is learn all the fancy stuff, but you ppl cant appreciate foundation. step your game up guys.

Although the german grip allows you to use alot of force it can still be used to play very soft and with alot of finesse.

heyy I use the french grips for rolls and fills and speed stuff. But my friends say that if i keep doing it, it's bad for my wrist. Is it true?

@nevermoregg yes
Pearldrum07 1 year ago
@nevermoregg well french grip relies mostly on fingers, so if you're doing french grip right, no.

I seriously think the only grip I ever use is French grip. Is that a bad thing?

Most advanced matched grip I think. After 5 years of playing drums I've switched american grip to french grip. It's awesome.
