  • this guy doesnt know whats going on around him ;p

  • DAMN, but she had a voice!!!

  • she was good, but he was a little... "showwy"...

  • 布施明は、とにかくうまい!

    本田美奈子が目立たないくらい。

  • With all do respect, she is (WAS) an amazing singer, certainly highly regarded, however Sarah Brightman is in a class unto herself. Perhaps if she would had more time to perfect her tiny flaws, then who knows how far she might have gone, now she is singing with the angels. RIP

  • descanse em paz Minako-sama

  • Nice.

  • Jap 0/5

  • Too late Honda Minako should have teamed up with Andrea Bocelli for this song when she was alive!.Like what Sarah Brightman I am sure they will bring this song to new heights.

  • Bravo! <3

Beautiful vocals, gorgeous violinist, amazing flutist...and

    handsome composer o.o

    R.I.P. Minako Honda <333

  • I admit that at first I was wondering how a Japanese person would sing an Italian song but she sang it so beauitfully! The guy not so much. Rest in peace Minako Honda. <3

  • The flutist and violinist were both fantastic but I didn't like their parts. In think adding anything tithes song makes it less beautiful

  • A sad postscript to this post. (I'm filling up, here)

  • he's kind of a japanese Barry Manilow, so it's like Barry singing Time To Say Goodbye!

  • nope didn't like it...

  • Beatiful voice and she is so pretty.

  • R.i.p Minako Honda

  • this song is the song that this one lady sings!! this is so nice too!! both versions are nice but i wish i would know what they are saying!!! XD

  • This version of "Time To Say Goodbye" is so beautiful, I think. Thank you so much for sharing.

Would you listen to KIKO's version? KIKO is a Japanese singer, too.

  • She was a fantastic singer. So talented, it was a sad day when she passed.

  • Who is this Minako Honda?

  • She is female singer weared black dress.

  • Perhaps this one is for her fans. She passed away four years ago today. If someone wants to see what she could do in the classical/opera area look at her version of "nessun dorma" at the end of "medley 2004". If you want to see her rock look at "M"

or "Shangrila". What fans see here is a beautiful woman with a wonderful voice singing a lovely song. If she had lived longer she could have learned to deliver with more support or whatever it is the audiophiles want. She embodied beauty. Greg G.

  • This song sounds familiar....

  • tsk

  • I think they're still a tad lack of confidence.

  • minako honda had died in 2005

her song is not good compared with another singer

but her soulful song is remaing in japaneses memory forever

  • agree

  • Comment removed

  • Did not enjoy. In any way.

  • not bad at all...pretty tough to sing this good anyway...

  • Blah, i didn't like it so much. Her voice is very light and she has trouble with the words. Although, I am biased since i've heard Brightman sing it so manytimes x.x''

  • muy buena representacion en italiano!! dificil debe de haberle sido pero lo logro, no voy a compararla con nadie porque lo creo fuera de lugar , si quiero decir q fue una buena presentacion, bravo!

  • Very good singers, i really enjoyed it:) long way til bocelli/brughtman standard tho

  • 5 stars here

  • didnt like it..^^

  • yes

  • Here's a pot, Mr. Kettle.

  • don't you mean "pronounce"....?

  • I love Minako but feel the wildcats and show tunes phases of her career were her least impressive. Her Ave Maria is beautiful, her interwoven Japanese song with the Gregorian Kyrie is exquisitely beautiful. Her version of the Puccini aria "Nemuranakute..." has more real and tender feeling than renditions by any diva I've heard. Also, though, what could be more beautiful than her singing & dancing to "Sossote" or "M"? She did everything with warmth, sensuality and humanity. Greg G. of Portland

  • lol. the conductor looks like a pop star XD

  • Have read a bit of Minako's bio. She looks graceful, elegant and have my full respect.

R.I.P and will always remember you. By the way, I know her name not longer than a few weeks and am not a Japanese, either.

  • Can't be compared with the original version.

  • How can some people say Minako-san doesn't sing with emotion here?? She is amazing... one of the best singers that ever lived... RIP Honda Minako

  • que voz hermosa y dulce! bellisimo

  • Beautiful. I can't believe people can't enjoy different people singing a song. Japanese is most of the beautiful languages in the world. And both demonstrated they can sing in other languages. Just watching them brought me lots of memories from the tome I lived in Japan.

  • the male singer sucks....

  • jajaja

    nice

    but sarah is sarah

  • sarah nice more!!!

  • The song is much faster than the original version, or at least Sara Brightman's version. However, it is not bad, just different. I do think that if the instrument background was stronger or more melancholy, then the performance would have been better.

  • So sad to learn that Ms Honda pass away at young age !

  • アンドレア ボチェッリとサラ ブライトマンの歌とは比べ物になりません。

    布施さんは変なこぶしがまわって本田さんときれいにデュエットしていません。残念です。

  • you must not rush this song!!

  • the orchestra is playing the song WAY TOO FAST!! It's lost all feeling!

  • too sad....

may she becomes an angel in the heaven

  • thats horrible she passed away

  • Off subject, but wasn't Akira Fuse, the male singer in the video, once married to the actress, Olivia Hussey, who played Juliette in Zefferelli's "Romeo & Juliette"?

  • yes, he was. what a lucky guy.

  • from 3.11 epic!

  • Pretty nice ^_^ the guy's voice can reach to high and the girl sings it with ease. ^_^ Its sad she passed away

  • omq.

Ich finde Des Lied so toll.

Ich steh zwar nicht Auf solche Musik.

    Aber Neja wozu gibts Ausnahmen.

  • Nice try, but Bocelli and Brightman have this song

  • katherine jenkins does it better

  • It sounds as if it is switching in between English and Italian. Though, this is a great version. By far one of the best I have found.

  • thats how the song goes. listen to bocelli and brightman sing it.

  • was she singing in japanese?? sound it more like japanese

  • yah this song is so beautiful, its so romantic i love it!!

  • good song but it seems that the singers timing is slightly off. woom wooom

  • OMG this is a good song

  • awesome

  • it a song made for a man to sing it

  • She sing the refrain in so beautiful voice but in the start i thought she breath helium or else cause her voice was so thiny...

  • weak

  • I agree

  • i'm so sure you could do better... what a downer, you give carrotcake a bad name

  • Well said....Amen

  • she's great.

i can't listen to her without me havin goosebumps.

    j'adore.

  • isn't the original song in english????

    it's soooooo beautifull!!!!!

  • no the original is not in english.

  • WHAT?? she died? oh no! such a beautiul woman with a great voice!

    my condolation japan.

  • what a beautiful voice!! i mean that woman.

( is sailor venus singing? *hahahaha* )

no, for real, the voice is sooo cool!

  • i dont find any emotion..... sorry

  • how did she die

  • wait she DIED?!?

  • ya,she was died in 2007...

  • She was died in November 6, 2005.

So, today(Japan time) is the third times anniversary of her death.

    R.I.P. minako...

  • I love this song so much, I had to sing it!

  • Thanks to the first 22 seconds of the video, that woman killed the beginning to it! Stupid TV anchor :D

  • Translator please!!:D

  • would you like a translation of the lyrics??

    or the intro?

  • their accents shine through wayyyyyy too much for me to enjoy this....

  • i think akira's voice in this song is sounds more italian than andrea's...

  • juraria que andrea bocelli es italiano....

  • omg she had died!!

she has got an amazing voice his not so much i didnt enjoy him that much but she was so beautifull aswell!!

  • She died so young, shame she was so beautiful and her voice was simply amazing.

  • she did an amazing job!!!

  • You're right, he's great. She's just okay. Their Italian isn't that great either which is understandable but still...

  • Que tal chiquita la Minako, una voz de àngel no tiene nada q envidiarle a Sara Brightman.

    muy buena.

    demiurgos -VRST- Lima `Perù

  • AWESOME!

  • he was amazing.. she was okk.. lol..

  • they are cute.

  • Minako became an angel.

さようなら Good-bye Minako became an angel.

  • And you missed the point - japanese love songs are VERY different than Italian love songs, as is the cultural expression. If they were unwise enough to (as you say) sing this song without proper preparation, then they deserve whatever critique they get. It's not a valid excuse!

  • 美奈子さんは天使になりました。 さようなら

  • Can u guys sing better than that...

at least give some respect cos. they faced the challenge as Japanese...

i think both the man and women did a good job...love the music too...

Don't forget that "when u point one finger at somebody, the other four fingers pointed towards you"

  • Mmh one of those moralisers. Of course I dont sing better cause they are professionels and compared to other pros it's really weak. Just listen to Andrea Bocelli and you know what I mean...

  • That was brutal... the little instrument interjections ruined the song as well as her natural accent. Takes away from the song. The guy was a little bit better... but his voice wasn't deep enough to properly capture the sound.

  • bueno, no se le puede comparar a la version de sara brightman y andrea bocelli, pero la verdad es que esta version esta bastante buena.

  • i like the girls voice quality but i also notice her vibrato is too wide and there's a litte pitch problem, just a little flat. but they did a great job because the piece is very challenging

  • Finally a version without that Brightman.

  • I think they did very well as a team on this one, and being interested in Minako Honda's career in the late 1980's and early 1990's, I was very surprised to see and hear how far she had progressed as a singer by 2002.

  • I remember I once listened to Mr. Fuse singing "宙"(Universe) on "のど自慢"(a singing Contest on NHK). He sang in a little operatic way then. Such pop singers as Mr. Fuse and Ms. Honda have sung TTSG well. Someone said Mr. Fuse dragged notes too much. In a YouTube clip, Sarah dragged even more than Mr. Fuse. Perhaps she wanted to change a little after singing it hundreds of times. BTW, Ms. Honda has sung a Japaanese version for the aria,"O mio babbino caro". Just type "Watashi No Otousan"and search.

  • As Japanese singers, they sang this "Time to Say Goodbye" (TTSG) quite well. I could feel that they practiced a lot avoid Japanese accent. Why not give them a big hand? As NipponRules said, Sarah sang Italian and Spanish with her own accent. However, the reason why I like listening to her songs is not her accent but her pure voice and singing skills.

  • Hmmm...

Not very well done. If they are amateurs, then it was ok.

Not a good choice for them, though. The Japanese

cultural austerity doesn't lend itself to romantic Italian love songs. Besides the dry interp, -

    * Vibrato too wide, on both

    * Rubato's not in sync, with each other or the orchestra.

    * Pitch issues

They were dressed very nicely, though!

  • True, however, I gotta hand it to them for sounding less Japanese than others would have sounded. And pitch seems to be ALWAYS a problem.

Simply because I wouldn't be able to do it myself I'll have to give them credit.

  • wow~ he is good...never really knew japanese could be this good...

  • Wow she is beautiful she sing just like Sarah Brightman and he is amazing

  • Minako is dead. Why are many people still commenting horrible things?

  • they lack practice as well... pitching problems too.

  • i don't like it that he likes to drag his notes... the orchestra is having a hard time

  • Do not misunderstand this video. They are pop singers and only happened to sing this song. They know by themselves that their song is no match for that of Sarah Brightman. This is a memorial video of Minako Honda. Read the above explanation.

  • Wow, when they sang together I actually had to stop the video it was that bad. He's not a terrible voice, but he probably should have practiced a little first. He didn't know how to sing the Italian words. SHE was awful. God, my ears. Can't hit the notes, trying to outshine him and not blend, and NO romance to each other in it at all. Is this song a romantic one or not? yucky. Japanese people suck at singing. Remember Sarah Brightman sang it in Italian and did it very well.

  • they're all white so naturally it came to her (sarah)

  • "Japanese People suck at singing"

Lol, then explain to me why Japanese CDs are now selling better internationally Than American/English Cds? You suck at being a human being, I think.

  • WOW not a bad version but more to the point i'd hit it 6ways from sunday =)

  • Oh shit shut the freak up.

I've been trying to listen this w/o comparing w/ Sarah Brightman's.

But the Japaneses' pronunication's really disastrous.

Beta make some classic Japanese songs first, the performance' really horrible.

  • yup definitely didn't enjoy it...not as much as sarahs and andrea's..the dude was out of rythim and even out of tune which is unacceptable for this song...her vibrato was annoying...sorry but true.

  • BRAVO!!! That was Amazing! Thank You so Much From Orlando, Florida USA

  • wow great job!!

  • Sounds fine to me what do you want they are japanese trying to sing 2 foriegn languages.

  • i want them to be quiet :D only because someone tries sth that is hard you can´t expect, that everybody says: WOOOOOOOW UNBELIEVEABLE :D

  • Also remember this is for Japanese audiences you aren't even susposed to be seeing this.

  • parts of her version sound flat and out of tune

and it lacks the emotion that sarah brightmans and andrea brocelli's version has

it sounds like a good karaoke version

  • :))))))))))))))))

  • lol all i have to say is good job not messing up the l's and r's and 15 dolla bucu money!

  • Excellent,Bravo!

  • andera bocelli&shara rule, they are masters for this two

  • si cambia mucho el continente

  • nice try and thnx for the efforts.....

  • not even close to masters frome europe

  • Nope. This does nothing for me.

  • ★★★☆☆

  • I like her voice,, but we can never listen her voice again..

    She was a great person.

    Great singer

    Great actress...

  • Good try!..

All it needs is a bit of pure passion in the voices!

  • very good

  • hot singer

  • sadly, the voice forever cant reach the standard of sarah brightman and andrea bocelli.. somehow the pure music is messed up with the extra violin and flute...

  • suteki

  • too bad honda sama died she had such a strong voice and could make one feel her music

she does swing low sweet chariot that is so good

  • otherwise known as amazing grace

  • N-I-C-E!

  • UGH, I tried my best to try and not judge too harshly...but seriously, the japanese guy SUCKS. The girl wasn't sooo bad, but the guy butchered and made this song suck beyond hell. No emotion whatsoever!

  • hát elég cink sztem

  • Geez people lighten up! They are Japanese singing Italian! Granted, this is a stretch for the tenor, Fuse Akira. But I wonder, how would Pavarotti sound singing classical Japanese music? Would his "accent" interfere with the quality of the performance?

  • Watch Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli for a lesson on how this should be done.

  • Uh yeah. They sang the original song. Duh.

  • No that's wrong. Sarah had nothing to do with the original - she heard it, and contacted Andre, asking him to perform the duet with her.

  • Sugoii desu! I've been a fan of Fuse-san for a few years now. I started out as a fan of Takarazuka. I'm widening my scope to include other talented people as well. Now, I'm a fan of Honda Minako, and that is so sad to read about her in your notes. Domo arigatou for posting this! This is wonderful! And I'm a a mixed-breed Californian! Thanks to YouTube, it's great to see other quality talents from all over this planet! Keep up the good work, Asyukee!

  • i have no comment i thought that was great even with the accent, i dont really care anymore what people sounds like when they sing to me music is like art dont have to be perfect just have fun.

  • Minako was pretty good at pacing the song even though her pitches were a little lower than Sarah's notes. The guy changed the whole pace so suddenly. ESPECIALLY at the "Su navi per mari" He sang Su navi very slow and per mari very fast. (Sarah does it the other way around) So I'd say he ruined a bit of the song. It sounds too powerful, not pleasing, not emotional, not sad, and all the others that Sarah/ Andrea put into.

  • amazing. it sucks that the japanese accents hinder from the amazingness, but otherwise, vocally, it's amazing. i've heard better definitely, but that was great. i've never heard of minako honda, and upon reading the info on this vid, it makes me sad.

  • It's gotta be hard to sing this song when you're japanesse or chinesse, tough, I don't like their accents, I must say that I like it :)

  • horrible... grita esa vieja..

  • Sarah Brightman>>Minako Honda. But still, she is pretty good.

  • wow this was beautiful! I've never heard of her before and found your videos by doing a search for Miss Saigon and these popped up, and I'm so glad you had all of these posted, she has such a beautiful voice! That's so sad about her death, it seems so unfair. Do you know when she sang this, how many months/years prior to her death it was? Thanks for sharing these videos!

  • such a sad song T_T.
