  • si tan solo todos los catolicos entendieramos este mensaje dios hermano, Dios amigo, Dios uno, Dios todos,Luz de Dios en cada hoja de los arboles en el rocio de la mañana...paz hermanos...AMEN

  • Sadness: 1 willful act of unkindness by anyone means we have all lost the truth we were born express: that we are all created as divine instruments of peace ~ expressions of love / As we spend any time discussing what is ugly..instead of all that is beautiful… we lose the blessing & joy of creating & being active in the next precious moments of heaven on earth when we are indeed…love…we are indeed peace & we are soon to be ever joy!! Soon to have Hope Eternal!

  • There is no historical evidence that Saint Francis was the author of this prayer, however, his life does reflect the truth of it. 99.9% of "Christians", did you do an authoratative survey or are you guilt of the presumption which you correctly see in the numerous poor examples of Catholic Christian faith.

  • For those who do not know, this is the Saint Francisco prayer, a Catholic Church doctor. Francisco (Francesco) is one of the most elevated human being ever existed. I apreciate people like O'Connor sing themes like this. It makes a big contrast with the enormous mountain of musical trash that sounds every time...

  • Thank you Sinead - may God bless you richly and wildly beyond your imaginings.

  • An angel couldn't sing it any better !!

  • Sounds better with Susan Boyle.

  • outstanding songxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Please pray for peace, God's justice to be dispensed and His righteousness to be practiced in this world that we live in.

  • Well, I don't appreciate some of the actions of Ms O'Connor sometimes, but she is passionate in her politics and religion and can say and do as she likes. Just because she rails against the Church hierarchy doesn't mean that she isn't still inspired by prayer and the religious songs she was likely brought up with.

  • One of my fav hymns, it's what I need to ask for

  • Let's just listen to what St Francis preaches, not argue about what Christians do or don't do. St Francis isn't responsible for that. His prayer is about loving each other (animals and people), living in compassion and as God wants us to, having faith in Him, trying our best and wanting to live as Jesus asked us to. Appreciate and value this peaceful prayer, let's not argue about who does what, we lose the essence of peacefulness and St Francis's gift if we follow that route. God Bless.

  • What is even funnier is that she is singing this song, while casting hatred towards religion and especially Catholicism...hmmmm, no thanks Sinead

  • @carrieanneball anger and outrage are not hatred.

  • Your percentage is way off, Angel. More Christians practice these admonitions from St. Francis then non-Christians who claim to be peaceful and respectful of those around them.

  • Your percentage is way off, Angel.

  • So much soul in Snead O'Connor's version of this song.I love her for her sincerity in her music.... and I wish her all the best for her life....

  • Everyone stop squabbling and listen to the music.

  • Where is the stat that Christians don't give back? Who are the few rushed and stayed to aid the hunger, the aids-infected, the oppressed in the third world countries?

The spirit of this should be to "practice", not to "judge"!

  • Where is the stat that Christians don't give back? Who are the few rushed and stayed to aid the hunger, the aids-infected, the oppressed in the third world countries?

  • Happy Feast day St. Francis!

  • been singing this song when i was in the seminary. this is a very special song for me as Oct.4 is my bday which is the feast day of Saint Francis of Asisi. thank u for singing this masterpiece so perfect & wonderful.

  • this song is so good its going in my pagan playlist a fitting place me thinks

  • have loved this song for a long time, Sinead was born to sing this song.

  • Mum xx hope you are sleeping peacefully xx

  • mermaidofsuburbia that's Exactly what you just did...

  • The face of inner pain...

  • Harry 10/3/1999 I love you xxxx

  • How can you reach eternity with so many crossroads? We need to pray for strength , protection and understand. Trough HIS love everything is possible. Sinead is in a dark moment she needs our prayers, so she can find peace in her heart and also ours..

  • I have heard this performed many times since I first heard Sebastian Temple, the composer of the music and arranger of the lyrics, first sing this back in the late 1960's. Shortly before his death in December 1997 he said that hearing his music at the funeral for Princess Diana touched him deeply.

  • This is a prayer,a hope, a striving...we all sin & need Gods grace.People will always let you down.God knows this, that's why we have his grace as a free gift....thank God!!!

  • She has such a beautiful voice. Enchantment to listen to.

  • 'Delivered one' assumes, that I, who commented on Sinead's rendition of 'Make Me A Channel of Your Peace' , am a cradle Catholic. I was raised by an atheist, socialist, trade unionist Irish Patriot and the country I was raised in had the same values as Dad. I read the Bible when I was 37, in order to challenge my fundamentalist friends and fell in love with Jesus. In the Catholic Church we hear the Word and have an altar call every day. I am not 'marcporter77' but I don't know how to fix it.

  • I thought she was interested in war...

  • @SimonCU I don't think so much that she was interested in war, I do believe that she is (was) a young lady that was struggling with her inner pain. I also believe she loves Jesus.

  • @AK8591 But she show hatred towards some ppl directly, which disturbed/shocked many ppl..Her relationship with ppl "not her type" (outcast) is shockin. She can love God but if she doesn't show love to ppl who harmed her/or ppl not her type (outcast) that's bad.Jesus did warm us about religious hypocrites in the Parable of the Good Samaritan - the Levi/High Priest who kept a distant. Her relationship with outcast should be like the relationship of the Samaritan and the Jew as told in the Parable.

  • @SimonCU You are right, it's true, we should be able to turn the other cheek and to show love even more but it is more difficult to do than to say for the majority, which is why we are sinners. Thank you for your reply. God Bless you. P.S. We need to pray for her ... and each other

  • This was Lady Dis favourite. Mine too. How Beautiful. Makes me want to be a better person.

  • Beautiful, this is my favorite Prayer, We use it in 12 step recovery meetings. So, thank you Sinead.for putting it into music with your beautiful voice!! BTW..... havent seen you in a long time....... please come back & sing 4 us. Im sure im not the only that feels this way! love ya, hugs..........K..

  • The comments about Sinead's voice were not made by marcporter77. It is a YouTube error.

Sinead has a fine voice but there are others who sing 'Make Me A Channel of Your Peace' with more passion. The song is attributed to Catholic St Francis and is directed to God. St. Francis acknowledges that he cannot become peaceful by his own will and that peace begins in the individual. Sinead, unfortunately, has incited hatred against 1.1 billion Catholics. Not peaceful.

  • @marcporter77 Not necessarily against the people, more likely the cultic aspects of the un-biblical indoctrination of the masses.

    Wold you call Jesus "Peaceful"?

Did he not defy with great physical exertion those who indignified the Synagogue, by turning their tables over and driving them out?

There is much error in the RC church and inculcation from birth does not a truthful religion make.

All are forgiven, not all are alive, so come and receive eternal life by faith in he who has risen

  • @marcporter77 No she did not

  • Simply perfect

  • It's very sad that 99.9% of "Christians" practice the exact opposite of what this prayer preaches.

  • @mermaidofsuburbia judge not

  • @mermaidofsuburbia Don't let a few ugly trees stop you from seeing the beauty of the forest

  • @mermaidofsuburbia Christianity is not a religion, it's a relationship with God, so I don't believe you're talking about Christians when you express your opinion.

  • @mermaidofsuburbia True that 99.9% of Christians practise anti-love.I know many Korean Christians and most of them are fake. They only love themselves and don't want to hang out with people who are not Korean Christians. They have their own religious/social group. It's like a members only cult.I'm a Christian and I can tell you that not many of us will give or receive love to an outcast/people not our type. It's sad..But Mother Teresa's love impresses me..

  • @mermaidofsuburbia and you get your statistics from where???? Don't judge....be that which you wish to see in others

  • @WarriorAngel4 amen:-) laoch shee thats warrior angel in gealic rough transltion tho

  • @kingpharaohtsar Thank you! I like...... :)

  • @WarriorAngel4 the name reminded me of sinead shes like a modren bodica

  • @mermaidofsuburbia

That was charitable. As logical as saying "99.9% of atheists say this about Christians". Who is in India feeding the hungry? Who started hospitals, universities and schools? Ask the poor in practically every city who shows them charity? The atheist has no moral imperative to help anyone other than themself. The question Jesus asked was "have YOU ever visited those who are sick, fed those who are hungry, clothed the naked".

  • @bannockking Actually I know of several "atheists" that do give back and help the needy but they don't do it because they are told to, they do it because they want to. It's not just Christians that give back, yes some do. But also Unitarian Universalists give back, and UU's come from every faith background including Atheist.

    Peace.

  • @mermaidofsuburbia I would hate to believe that...ANY percentage is too much, but I'd still say and believe that your percentages would be off...nonetheless...it is to Christ Himself we must hope...all others are mere humans...

  • @mermaidofsuburbia You are completely wrong...

  • No. 99% of Christians who sing and believe in this song are different from you and other haters. When you ever step a foot in church and can live sinless then you criticize others.

  • @mermaidofsuburbia I find it astounding that you know 99.9% of Christians. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them....... The people you could be talking about may simply 'think' they know the True Christ... Or they could simply be very new beginners in their faith...... but also remember this, we are all human and failure is part of our makeup..... be a little more forgiving as this song would say "as much to be forgiven as to forgive.....

  • @mermaidofsuburbia Sad but ugly and depressing truth......

  • @mermaidofsuburbia 99.9%? certainly there are more crappy ones than there should be, but it's definitely not 99.9%. not to mention that's a very stupid comment to make. you're essentially saying that all Christians are bad people. disguised in so many words. i'm not a Christian myself or religious at all, but i've known plenty of Christians and 99.9% of them are definitely not bad people. suck my dick.

  • Did u ever any thing as beautiful .She also does a beautiful version of Silent Night

  • I'm an Irish girl who loves to sing this song. I'm not catholic but

a real Methodistgirl who still loves what God can do. This is a

    beautiful prayer for everyday.

    methodistgirl

  • @methodistgirl I am a Pentecostal & i too find this to be a beatuiful prayer & song!

  • This is one of my favorite religious hymns. I chose for my dad's funeral, he was a wonderful father to me and miss him every day x

  • This is one religious hymns. I chose for my dad's funeral, he was a wonderful father to me and miss him every day x

  • Absolutely fabulous, just like the singer. x x

  • thank god for lethal protector, we can now be forgiven, who are you to judge and preside on what anyone has done. you should emigrate to the u s a and join the the rest of the righteous psychopaths in the senate. the trouble with the world is, it's filled with people like you, but I forgive you

  • Beautiful

  • This is not the best song for Sinead's voice nor for her spirituality. Does she know anything about St. Francis? He was radically Christian. He was the young man who gave up wealth and hedonism for Christ. It is that which makes his legacy endure. Sinead has demonstrated hatred for her roots, and for her Catholic brothers and sisters who make up a sixth of the world's population, who are dying away in Ireland and increasing in Africa and Asia.

  • @marcporter77

Be careful as you judge, lest you be judged in turn, sir. Regardless of what she's done wrong, she's singing a beautiful hymn now, and it's obvious that she's putting her heart into it. Anyone, anyone, can be forgiven for what they've done...you might listen to the lyrics yourself, as she has, and keep them in mind.

  • @marcporter77 Sinead shows more compassion to her fellow humans than your Pope - she only demonstrates hatred for *abuse*, and rightly so! Her voice uplifts and brings joy to peoples' hearts and she knows full well that the truth will set us free. More than we can say for the Pope ("condoms spreading aids" comes to mind here..)

Anyway, lovely song. It is one of the only hymns I remember from school.

  • @neoniastarz The Pope showed us how to Love an outcast/a person not your type as shown in the Parable of the Good Samaritan by visitin his assassin in prison.Sinead showed us how to make war with someone she has never met(Pope).I'm not religious but I know the difference between Loving an outcast and making war with someone who never touched/met her personally. The person who abused her was fired and imprisoned. She should visit the person in prison who hurt her.St Francis wrote the song words!

  • Beautiful lyrics and voice

  • sung at my nans funeral, xxxxxxxx miss u nan, want u back so much......it really hurts, xxxxxxxxxxx

  • Angel

  • Gibt es das auch in einer deutschen Übersetzung? Als Kirchenlied? Ich finde nichts...

  • to everyone who's lost loved ones, peace and strength, bless you 8( 8)

  • This song is usually played at any of my family's weddings / christenings / funerals

  • perfect

  • words to my daughter angel who is in prison and was just denied parole... god give her strength she will be home soon...

  • words to my daughter angel who is in prison and was just denied parole... god give her strength....

  • @deetober i send her my prayers too. I pray she finds peace in her strength, and strength in her peace.

  • @tantawi1992 "In increasing love?" You write a nasty note back, just, what, so you can have the last word? And you sign it "in increasing love." You're chomping for a fight & you sign off with this smarmy, holier-than-thou horseshit? Hypocrite. I have shown you anger, not hatred. There is a crucial difference. You insulted me, you insulted women & you haven't even BOTHERED to talk about the subject of the controversy--that children were being raped by priests. God forgive you. Now piss off.

  • @tantawi1992 You scorned the Anglicans for "even allowing lesbians" to be priests. Those are your own words. And you apparently feel compelled to lecture me on Catholicism. So yeah, I'm accusing you of liking to lecture women and hating gays. Now bugger off. Go pester the Lord with your narcissism.

  • @tantawi1992 I'm sure you feel compelled to lecture women. To set us straight. Resist the urge to write back. I'm not interested in a dialogue with you. You have NOTHING to say to me.

  • @tantawi1992 And now you condescend. Don't you patronize me. God looks after me fine. Take your false charity & try it out on somebody else. Go lecture some other woman about "disrespect and hatred." You damn well did imply that the Catholic Church can do without me, as it values "quality" over quantity. Its right on the page. You also mocked Anglicans for "allowing lesbian priests." Don't like gay people either eh? You wouldn't have liked our Lord either--Jesus loved women & defended women.

  • @tantawi1992 You call yourself a Christian? A good Catholic? How dare you suggest that I am a lesser "quality" of human being because I think women should be priests. Who are you to look down your nose at me? The Catholic Church is MY church. Why don't YOU leave. And take the misogynist priests with you. And the pedophile priests who shamed and disgraced Catholics across the world. Women are part of "the Catholic narrative" whether you like it or not, you pompous windbag. Shame on you.

  • Could this be any sweeter?

  • This woman is brave & beautiful. The Church betrayed ordinary Catholics when the hierarchy hid the rampant pedophilia of many priests. Sinead was one of the first to stand up & say something. Good for her. In Canada alone, priests raped Indian kids at the residential schools. They destroyed entire communities. Even now, generations later native communities in the North are only beginning to recover from the horror. And still no women priests. To hell with them. We should just say mass ourselves.

  • @mightymissk Yes,indeed.The truth WILL come out.Thank you Sinead,for your bravery.

  • this woman shouldnt even be singing this song as she spoke so bad against pope john paul and the catholic church

  • @ejscas : Are you kidding? Wasn't the very reason Jesus Christ was crucified was because he spoke out against hypocrisies in the Church and upset the establishment? Yes.

As for criticizing Sinead O'Connor, the song is the Prayer of St Francis - have you listened to the lyrics? I think her version is one of the most beautiful I've heard of my most favourite song. God bless her for making it.

  • @ejscas Sinead was talking about the sex abuse and the pedophile priests.Everyone understands that now,but for many years she was misunderstood and scorned to a heartbreaking degree.Sinead knew what the priests were doing, but her symbolic acts were not understood by the world. Now we all know.We owe Sinead an apology. And she is a deeply devout Catholic.

  • @samuelsan33

it's the person singing the song.

  • Sinead O'Connor's voice is ideal for this song.

  • Its already 3 weeks since my mother passed, & I miss her dearly... though I know she is happy and free from any suffering... "Still miss you mum!"...

  • Słuchajcie..pt. wiecie..

To jest tak inteligentna osoba...ze my ewentualnie mozemy za nia walizki nosic..

    Ok????

  • Nice video and great song. But why are all those pictures about one person. Why is that person the focus of this song?

  • may god bles all

So much to be consoled as to console,

To be understood, as to understand,

To be loved, as to love with all my soul ...

  • For My Mother Lilian ~ who has cancer... Love & Light Be with You....

  • @2466catalyst May God's blessings be upon your mother

  • @Atalifo74 Thank you, beautiful ~

  • @2466catalyst May God's blessings be upon your mother.

  • This was the "official" hymn of our Catholic high school. St. Francis of Assisi was our patron saint and namesake. We sang it at every school Mass-- thoughtfully and reverently, but not QUITE this slow.

    Still, very beautiful.

  • the played that at my nunes funeral today and it was so sad her name was sister marinta

  • This is nothing less than beautiful.

  • They make us sing this every day at school mass -.-

  • yea at me to but today they did it at my nunes funeral it was so sad it is a sad song it made cry so bad :(

  • I needed this today. I was actually looking for a different Sinead song - going down a darker road when I stumbled upon this. What a turn around for me, it set me on a path of Hymns which was very uplifting.

  • Beautiful, just beautiful. We played this song at my grandma's funeral.

  • @blondiebabs

Thank you for sharing sweet Babsiex

    Absolutely wonderful video edition

    Congratulations for all!

  • @jooliewoolie1980 aww bless!

  • @jooliewoolie1980 thats sweet.....sorry for your loss.

  • My Mum used to play this,I grew to love it dearly "Make me a channel of Your peace, where there is hatred, let me bring Your love, where there is injury pardon Lord...O Master grant that I might never seek so much as to be consoled as to be consoled, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love with all my soul, make me a channel of Your peace, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in giving to all men that we receive, & in dying that we are born to eternal life)

  • surely sinead you dont need the voice enhancement, you used to have such a voice i sense it is still there can even hear it in this version underneath the fluff and patter of the electonics of the mike........

  • I'm someone who was brought up a catholic but later realised all religions are contradictory. I have no faith but there are hymns I do love that have a special place in my heart due to major points in my life especialy funerals!

  • @CovKid80 - Someone once said to me, "All the major religions are like the beads on a necklace and the string that holds them together is the thread of truth that runs through them all." Things clicked and I have been seeking and experiencing that eternal and essential truth ever since. It is the truth that all great masters, including Jesus, came to teach. But it is human greed and misunderstanding that built exclusive and devisive religions around those figures and their teachings. Blessings

  • @cah1964 very well said

  • god will bless you!!=)

  • wait, isn't that the self proclaimed female priest? what exactly is her story!?? and vonnie I'm sorry about your sister!

  • i'M GLAD SHE CAME BACK TO HER FAITH. NICE SONG.

  • @TheLadyjazzy1 Sinead O'Connor never left her faith. One could argue her "faith", ne the religious, left her. She's always been in love with catholicism, as well as other faiths, like Rastafarianism.

  • beautiful prayer, beautiful song, so beautifully sung. such feeling in a beautiful voice.

  • I have just been to a friends funeral and this was sung there. I had it for my dads funeral, it is a beautiful song and I am leaving instructions when I go I would like this and Going Home sang at my funeral.

  • loved it!!!!!!!

  • My favourite too.

    Thank you :-)

    Thank you St. Francis :D

  • Absolutely one of the most touching renditions of this piece. It is obvious that Sinead has spiritual depth. You can feel her faith in each word.

  • omg love this song rip grandad xx

  • "Make me a channel of your peace".....while I rip a picture of the pope....yeahhh I think we should take her for her word for it, not her actions.

  • Just Beautiful

  • so lovely

  • Watch her TED - She has a great talk - HIV +

  • Sinead O'Connor ripped a picture of the Pope on Saturday Night Live.

  • I love this version of it. Very nice song.

  • is a stunning song and we are planning on using it in my gran's funeral next friday beautiful song beautiful singer xx

  • She rips up a picture of Pope John Paul II on TV.

She does not deserve to have this Catholic song heard by any Catholics.

I paused the video at 3 seconds. I will not pollute my ears with her voice.

  • we played this at my daughter's funeral

  • @staceyduch We're playing it at my sister's funeral tomorrow.

  • @vonniep07 i am so sorry for your loss, i will be thinking of you tomorrow :(

  • @vonniep07 We are there.

  • @vonniep07 God Bless your sister...such a beautiful song in her remembrance....

  • @vonniep07 requiescat en pace

  • @vonniep07 Bless your sweet heart.

  • @staceyduch I live in Maine. And now, through this song, I grieve with you. My prayers are with you completely. My tears I give to you.

  • @staceyduch condolence. may your daughter rest in peace.

  • @staceyduch Then tonight as I listen to this, I pray for your daughter.

  • @staceyduch Awww What Happend how Old was She oMG!

  • @staceyduch, God bless her and you too. Be strong! Love & light from São Paulo, Brazil.

  • What people don't seem to remember, Sinead knew about the abuse in Ireland long before the Catholic Church come forward and apologized for it and tried to fix it. She done that in the 90s yet its only been in the last 2 years the Church has listened. I am not dissing the Church because I love the Catholic Church but I understand Sinead's actions. And smart if you knew something that was being ignored by the Catholic Church wouldn't you also be unhappy.

  • Well done Sinead, thank you!

  • @Slippergirl the Catholic church is not out of touch, it is the people that are out of touch with the teachings of Christ our Lord! Thanks be to God for our Lord Jesus Christ!!

  • @vonniep07 Once one is catholic one is always catholic even judgmental people are people of God. Each one's journey is not identical. The Holy One speaks to each heart. There an old Bible Scripture- Judge not or you might find yourself judged. Safe Journey

  • @Evolvednotcloned -if you realize the catholic church is off teaching a emphasis on salvation through works you are not always a catholic but someone who is born from above like the gospel of joh n chapter 3 verse 3 states

  • @soulkiss1001

Yes, on John 3:3. To my mind a good person does right actions and tries to practice kind acts. No mandate necessary only the nudge of the Spirit, akin to a parent reminding a child to say please or thank you.

  • @soulkiss1001

    1 John 1:1-7
