This movie was good. As Carrie finally allowing her confidence and self-esteem to grow and as she finally found someone interesting in her, the students just had to pulled that nasty prank on her. It's sad that Carrie never had the chance. This movie does gives off the message making a point now these days, cruelty in school teens could be so high, and having lack of dignity that everyone is different.
les juro qe me enamoro esta peli hace cuanto qe yo no veia de estas peliculas de terror...loko estas si son peliculas en serio...VAMOS ARGENTINAAAA TODAVIAAAA!!!!!
Sissy Spacek, Piper Laurie and Nancy Allen were really great in this film. But ever since I've seen Coal Miner's Daughter I can't watch this movie without laughing a little.
2:47 Crazy christian mother bitch.. how could she push that magazine onto her daughter's face...that's not physical trauma as much as it is humiliating and degrading
@theoneandonlySS1995 Timing helps promote anticipation also the music plays a major part. You knew what had happened before for lesser horrible bullying situations she had experienced. You may notice that her body during the burning prom scene is elongated. Her head seems to fit into her meagre body almost 8 times. I believe the film crew used an anamorphic lens to achieve that effect. The low camera angle also unsettles the viewer as it gives her more presence and imperious authority.
As for Carrie being the scariest. 1976 Jaws was scarier to me with that under water boat scene (Carrie comes close with her gilfriend's hospital bed dream sequence). It has good use of silence and close up intimate film footage that draws the viewer into unexpected action and unsettling music. It's scarier, because it's more believable. I doubt Carrie would have put many people off bullying or attending a prom. However, I'm sure Jaws would have made many think twice about going in the water.
i felt like everyone who bullied her deserved what they got. if i had powers like that, id take full advantage and just screw with everyone i hate. i would never kiil sombody but id just make thier lives a living hell ahaha
@mislabeledracoon Yes...that's what Stephen King writes (mostly). Psychological thrillers that aren't politically correct. As a Constant Reader, the media (which don't know shit about his books) constantly label 'em as nothin' but a horror writer.
@theoneandonlySS1995 I thought that part was scary as hell too. I don't know it's the look in her eyes, and her eyes are also a very pale blue it always scared me.
Brian De Palma's adaptation of Stephen King's debut novel shares a lot in common with the films of Alfred Hitchcock, in that CARRIE creates horror not by resorting to the shock cuts one might find in a low-budget slasher movie, but through using elements of suspense to form illusions in its viewers' minds.
No one ever talks about how great Piper Laurie was in this film....She has got to be one of the most underated actresses in the biz and Sissy Spasic and her together was a superb casting decision to make....It couldnt have been any one else!
Heh i always do little imatations of this movie to get on my friends' nerves! Like '' Therye all gonna laugh at you!'' and '' Hey Norma i think she wants a tampon!''
I love this movie. I am always so sad what could have happened if the bucket didn't fall on her and that Tommy begins to really like her. I absolutely love Piper Laurie too.
Very true. The ending was very sad; I teared up a bit at the prom scene and when Tommy started liking her. It was just really sad, but till a genius piece of work.
I realize I'm a total weirdo, but I just get the biggest kick out of all the face slap scenes in Carrie! You almost have to have a calculator to keep up with all them, must be a record or something-LOL
um....do u really want to know??????i am not kidding if you are under 10 u probably dont know what this means......but anyway it means to....um....plug a....tampon in.....there......lol

@EdensThing Perhaps you haven't seen 'The Omen' or "Burnt Offerings'.
Both were released the same year as 'Carrie'.

Bringing back Carrie would have been awesome in Stephen King's 5-7 books of The Dark Tower saga. ;). Just a SK Constant Reader.

@HUSKY57887 Why did Amy Irving deserve to die? She got her bf to take her to the prom to have fun and interact with others.

@jephsteph I agree. She's not a monster, she's someone who's just different. Carrie is basically Matilda for adults.
