Bottom line: Randy did no damage to Vera. Randy was unable to take vera down. Vera nearly knocked Randy out. Vera got dominant top position on Randy numerous times. Randy was able to hold on for dear life, and neutralize Brandon's superior offensive skills.
In between getting his ass beat, Randy was able to push Vera into the fence for long periods of time. What fight did you nuthuggers see (I am also a hugger....)
Brandon Vera completed the only takedown in the ifght, and nearly knocked Randy out. I am a Randy fan, but this fight makes me question the integrity of UFC. Randy held on for dear life the entire fight, and was lucky he was able to "clinch" to save his life. Randy stalled the whole fight and did NO damage.
when did randy controlled the fight?? can somebody pls telle me?? he is trying to take vera down but vera defended himself very well. so again, where in the fight did randy controlled it??
couture had vera pushed up against cage for most of the fight. neither fighter did much in that position...that being said, because couture had the dominate position, couture was given that points and the rounds. vera may have defended the takedown, but he did not do much to change the position and be in the dominate position. that was the difference in this fight.
dominate is an over statement, randy didn't create much damage on that position, he has his goal which is to take it to the ground and was unsuccessful, didn't it say that in almost every sport, defense is very important or defense wins championships?coming in the fight everybody knows randy's gameplan, why not score round 1&2 for very good defense.
you have to say very good defense by vera, because that is randy trying to take him down. he did take him down once but vera got out in an instant
This is the most affordable product a new cable affiliate can broadcast. Below this, NFL tape, Demolition Derby, I Love Lucy. The novelty of watching someone get their brains beaten out passes quickly. On Demand carriers find programming like this a tough sell. Those that would watch such an event are not the same market that would pay to view them. The affiliates know this has a limited shelf life and virtually no syndication value. This dies a natural death. They're canceled.
the shows you mention do help new cable affiliates just starting out, but there is one show you missed. Pro Wrestling. Pro Wrestling will always draw viewers and I would guess is more dangerous than boxing and MMA combined. There are not many old former pro wrestlers. You still have not answered my email in regard to debating this issue on Shambala Sports Radio. And take my video off your channel.
What about the association you make with MMA and boxing? As if through training, MMA fighters are impervious to the type of injuries we've discussed. You'll agree that losing three of these fights under any circumstance, they shouldn't be in it. Or certainly two by knockout. I will delete your video when it's replaced by another installment of "This Week In Combat Sports" It's become an intrical part of my analysis. I intend to bludgeon you with some of it on SS radio.
You are a fucking IDIOT DUDE!!! Vera beat Randy and I love how you left out the mount position and the end of the third and wanted to focus on the neutral position in which you claim randy was controlling vera!! Also its NATE DIAZ not NICK you dumb bitch!!
first, don't be rude. second, randy controlled most of the bout. he may not have been very busy while controlling the fight in the clinch. you call it a neutral position, but that is not how the rules consider pushing someone against the cage. vera had a couple moments of looking good in the fight. he did not control the action. i like vera. i think he has a lot of talent, but he did not control this fight. last, i made a mistake in naming nick instead of nate. it happens. lighten up.
well if its a weekly round up you should stick to the news and not give your opinion because vera got robbed regardless if you believe it or not....Tito got robbed...and so did Shogun....the last three main events of the ufc...and once again over under clinch is a neutral position...ask John McCarthy because Ive been to his referee school
my show. if you want to pay me to do the show the way you want it, i will change the show. did rua get robbed, most likely. did tito get robbed, maybe. did vera get robbed, i don't think so due to what i said in the show. vera had a couple moments where he looked good and was able to hurt couture, but for most of the fight he was pushed up against the cage. if vera was able to control the action, he would have won that fight. vera had to find a way to get off the cage. he didn't...
vera didn't dictate the action for most of that fight. i am a fan of brandon vera. i think vera can and will be a champion in the ufc. but i also feel that he needs to get back to being the killer that he was when he broke into the ufc. again...if you don't like the show, don't watch.
naw it updates several newsources and puts them together... not everyone reads all the websites for info...Randy won the match with three third round flurries against one takedown to mount with no damage done.. watch third round again
I've selected three fighters at random using this video. Randy Couture, Brock Lesner and Dan Hardy. All appear to be remarkable physical specimens, each in different weight class and yet to reach their thirtieth birthday. Within a decade, one of these men will be a complete invalid. He will be in a diaper and unable to walk or speak. It's been described to me. "I'm lost in the corridors of my mind" I would wager my home, money and professional career on this prognosis.
you have already lost your bet. Randy Couture is 47 years old and still highly articulate. you owe me your home money and career. let me site some boxers that have retired and still doing just fine. Sugar Ray Leonard, George Foreman and Ray Boom Boom Mancini. in the case of Muhammad Ali, he has Parkinson's disease. I remember at the end of his boxing career he was still doing fine, but then Parkinson's took over and that is when his communication deteriorated. where is my money?
First, you know and I know that in this case Parkinsonism in a polite way of saying pugilist dementia. Mr. Ali was punched in the head more than 27,000 times. You really wouldn't want to match names of punchy fighters I know over those you don't. I don't want to give you a lecture in neurological disorders. You're specialty is evalutating performance. My specialty is evaluating results.
At least in the "red light" district of professional boxing, there is a purse. Most of these individuals are fighting for free! The only money being made here is by the third tear cable networks that carry this shit. Most of these kids end up with a one-way ticket to Palookaville. This doesn't measure up to "sport". This is human cock fighting. In roughly five years from now, we're going to begin paying a very, very high price for this.
very few of these guys are fighting for free. where do you get your information? i have meet a lot of up and coming fighters and they are not fighting for free. they are fighting because they love the sport, but they also have bills to pay. And how many boxers get a crack at the big time. i would venture to guess the money in the small shows is not much different. the big difference between boxers and mixed martial artist... mixed martial artists get sponsors...boxers usually do not.
You have to sell an awful lot of T shirts to compensate someone for the loss of their faculties. "Sponsors" what does that mean, a clean towel and ride to the hospital? Tell me TW, are you building a a stable of fighters?
no, i am not building a stable of fighters. i sent you an email. why don't you come on my web radio show and debate the issue. then you can tell me and everyone listening who you are and why you believe what you believe about the fighting profession.
Punch statistics can't be kept in contests like this. Mohammad Ali was punched in the head more than 27,000 times! He is now unable to dress himself and he can barely speak. Many of the young men in this video will be in similar circumstances in a much shorter period of time. Some of these men will be bed ridden invalids in their forties. The entertainment value in this sport will plummet. You will begin to see the wisdom in ending this.
I've seen fighters in their early twenties with virtually no cartilage at all in their ears. There are prize fighters in their 60's with more than 100 professional bouts that don't have injuries like this. Pugilist dementia is an injury postponed. This is not something that happens to "some" fighters. When you see a young man with ears like balloons, what do you think is going on inside that man's brain? This carries a virtually 100% effect rate!
What are we going to do when Machida and Ortiz and so many others are in a long term convalescent care? Pugilist dementia manifests in many ways. Its not just being unable to dress yourself in the morning or peeing your pants in public. Some closed head injuries become homicidal maniacs. Beating Wives, children, parents and strangers to death without provocation. They end up in chemical restraint in psychiatric facilities and prison.
no he wouldnt, if you look at the people they fought its obvious that vera wouldnt stand a chance, no dissrespect to vera but he couldnt stop that polish guy and shogun was the first person to win a round against machida
Win a round? how about winning a fight? that's what he did. Actually, ironically enough, the first person to even come close to puting machida on ice was Tito Ortiz.
Fucking "Octagon control" criteria depends on who's fighting - it's originally the Tito Ortiz rule...
If "Octagon control" and "agression" are so important, how did Hammill beat Bisping or Machida won against Shogun?
Randy got his ass kicked in the 2nd and 3rd - knockdown, full mount, back mount, gnp, effective striking, aggression by Vera vs "Octagon control" from Randy...
i must disagree with the couture and vera decision. couture never once was on the offensive. he never had vera in any trouble and for the majority of the fight, couture was grabbing vera and pressing him up against the cage and catching his breath. the ref needed to seperate them more but because couture has such reputation as a grappler in addition to his long career, the ref let it go on way too long which made for a boring fight. huge dispappointment and an awful fight, a terrible decision.
I agree with you. Was a horrible fight. But...the way that the judging is done, octagon control is a big part. That is why Randy won the fight. If Vera would have stayed away and used his length to pick at Couture and avoid the clinch, he could have won that fight.
Couture controlled the bulk of that fight whether he was busy or not. That is why he won.
