Anyone notice how this hardly looks like star trek? Giant cavernous hallways make it look like the character has been shrunk. The gameplay looks terrible too. Its nothing like what you see on the series. Ridiculous amounts of repetitive combat and nothing interesting. This game is obviously a total flop and probably a mega millions loss.

when i heard of this game my first impression was. oh my gosh i get to assemble a crew to pilot my ship in combat against other players. but now this is just another mmo. with a good story line though.

they got the sizing all wrong, look how big you are compared to the doors and stuff. The ship looks like it should be the size of a small planet. They got this COMPLETELY wrong and ruins the game for me.

@fark336 Diablo 2 isn't an MMO. It's a single player RPG, with online multi-player features. The online is set up more like a multi-player first person shooter, or strategy game, where you can jump in and out of different games hosted by people or host your own.

Have you ever heard of a MMO? They're basically all pay per month. The most famous of all being World of Warcraft... it's pretty standard to pay $15 a month you have to consider the developers are constantly working on the game and maintaining the servers, it cannot be free with that level of service.

Until people get over themselves and stop complaining about controller support being offered in MMO's it will remain that way, at least D.C. Universe online offers Controller support for PC, if it catches on would be nice. I HATE using a keyboard- I HATE IT.

Bottom line though, if you want a quality MMO, you are going to have to pay a monthly fee. MMO's are expensive!! I HIGHLY recommend D.C. Universe Online and Star Wars: The Old Republic.

@kevin957 Well, you are dead right about cover systems, I totally agree, running in there like a Clone Trooper or something, I totally disagree with because it would be the equivalent of Ninja Turtles using Machine Guns. As far as cover, not having it in ANY game, is a disappointment. But definitely, if your going to make a Star Trek Game, you need to retain the integrity of the franchise that is more than 50 years in the making. As far as cover, I fail to see why ALL GAMES do not implement it.

Done teaching 15 year olds, though by assuming your 15 may have credited you a few years. @kevin957 Obviously you are VERY YOUNG, and have not grown up with star trek, while I have 25 years of Star Trek under my belt. Star Trek is about Space Explorers, NOT SOLDIERS!!!!, Their weapons are more linear and to the point. While a cover system is needed in all games, the style of combat found in Mass Effect is More Vigorous than that found in the Star Trek Universe, essentially, their weapons represent defensive measures, with the capacity to kill, while in Mass Effect, You are a Soldier.

@VirtualGotham All your crew are NPCs from what I've seen from the demo and read in reviews. The original plan was for all members of the crew to be real players, but this was changed when Cryptic took over production in favour of everyone being a ship captain from the start.

IMO it's pretty bad on all fronts, it looks un-polished and un-finished.

For me the planet side look and feel need's a lot of refining, and space combat is...well...boring to say the least.

Maybe in a year or so i will try it again (if its still around) but tbh i doubt i'll bother.

I've now logged about 35 hours in this game. I love WOW like I love breathing, but if u remember, the same negative things were said about WOW. STO is by far the most addictive MMO I've ever played. I didn't want to believe that anything would ever dethrone WOW in my mind...but STO has! GIVE THIS INCREDIBLE GAME A CHANCE....you can't play an MMO for 3 hours let alone review it when it first comes out...MMO's evolve..and STO's evolution is faster than than anything I've played!
