How to password protect folders **No Programs Needed**

hey guys you could download bat to exe converter 1.5 and then it cant be checked by anyone

Upon further investigation, this is great for hiding a folder from the average person. HOWEVER, all one needs to do, who knows about this trick, is simply create a new Key.Bat file and use theirs to unlock your folder. And with ANY password they created in their own Key.Bat file.

To all of you who find this information useful. Here's what I would do with the BAT file.

Keep the BAT file on a flash drive. Drag it to where you need it on your computer. Then when you are finished with it, DELETE it from your computer. Just keep the BAT stored on your Flash drive.

If you ever lose your Flash drive, you can always create a new BAT file as long as you remember the folder name and password . ;-)

@MrElvispwnschu If THAT is the case for YOU, then you obviously didn't follow instructions and/or screwed something up when you created your BAT file. This works PERFECT for ME and if I enter the wrong password 2 times, the folder remains hidden and the files inside are NOT accessible in any way.

you can still see and access the folder, if you turn on 'show hidden folders'- in folderoptions

This is great for hiding things, especially for a flash drive. It wont make them unaccessible. It will however make people think there is nothing on it. Most people just look at the bat file and leave it alone.

if you're trying to hide porn...this will work great with a password protected folder if you also disable Windows Search under the Windows Feature folder...that way no one can type and search your hard drive...of course someone else could still edit password on your bat in txt format but only if they know what they are doing

I found this program called winguard pro. It doesn't cost a penny, yet it will allow you to password protect folders very easily and quickly.

What this does is hides the "Personal" folder in your operating system and by default even if you have show hidden files your computer hides ALL items in the operating folder you also have to un-hide those files also in order to bring the folder up in a search

Really? Honestly? You've never heard of a hex editor like debug? How is converting to .exe going to change the fact that the password is stored in plain text? Open up any folder, click on "Organize" then click on "Folder and Search Option" then click on "View" theeeeen click on "Show Hidden File, Folders, and Drives" and wahlah, you can view everything. So this note thing is pointless.

Easy way is Right Click on the folder and go to "Properties" and click on "Hidden" then "Apply". to view Hidden stuff follow what I said on top.

If you right cklick on the file when you are done, it sais edit, and if you are a real geek at computers, you could just change that password, and go see the files! USE A ZIPPED FOLDER! it would be alot more difficult to access the files, when password protected with a zipped folder!

this way have a foible : if they know your folder's name and your folder's location and how you make your key , they can make another key (of couse they make their own password) easily open your folder . And If they found your key , they could know your folder's name - just take your key to another location and double click it . So if you use this way to hide your folder --> keep your folder in a secret place And don't put your key and your folder in a same place
