  • terminator 2 is better

  • Scorsese is a legend. What was the movie with the torture scene?

  • In my opinion, Scorsese is the most consistently brilliant director in Hollywood.

  • I think Kubrick was the best.

  • Scorsese is one of the greatest living filmmakers

  • I wanna see number 1 where is it on youtube?

  • uuuuhhhhhh...click on the description buddy.

  • 1:10 which movie is that (it has a cameo of scorsese).

  • Thanxx dude. Watching it again just confirms what I already know: Scorsese is a genius and you are well on your way, sir!!!!!

  • Man, I LOVED part one. Gimmie Shelter is like a scorsese them song at this point and it worked perfectly with your montage. Will it ever go back up? An encore presentation?

  • see description

  • who's the number 1, if scorsese is number 2

  • Hitchcock or Kubrick. Has to be one of them. (note, Scorsese was hugely influenced by Hitch. And Kubrick is also just great.)

  • Maybe but neither of them were his biggest influence.

  • Dude put 1 back up. I watch that everyday before I go to school

  • Hey what happened to part 1? Was it taken down?

  • It was.

It still lives on my blog

  • do you have a link to download the whole video (11min) ? 'cause i would like to put it on my ipod

  • This is a very good video but I absolutely love the first part of this tribute. The first part is so kinetic and captivating. It packs a wallop. This one doesn't really kick into high gear like that other one.

  • From 3:20 on, awesome.

  • i would also love a video about ridley scotts films

  • I second this!

  • very good job mman

  • Did you matte the clips of "Life Lessons" from its full screen format that's on the DVD?

  • Great vid. Scorsese is my personal favourite director and I've seen 17 of his 20 movies, so this was a fun watch obviously:)

Fantastic editing and choice of music

  • Seeing the amazing images like this outside the context of their stories actually makes them even better.

  • What's the song that begins at 1:30?

  • "Late For the Sky" by Jackson Browne

  • Here's your award for fastest comment reply in teh histories of youtube. Thank you kind sir.

  • dude..im alwiz crazy with marty's movie..wat a vid from you..anyway song at 3:21, i know it is from Goodfellas..wats d title of instrumental?

  • "Layla (piano exit)" by Derek and the Dominos

  • dude-

    great edit.

    but your audio is horrible.

where did you get your alice audio from?

  • Judging by the quality of the images, I'd say he records the films directly from the television with a videocamera or something like that, and then he includes the horizontal bars during the edition. So maybe the audio has the same origin and that's why it doesn't sound so perfect.

  • It's a hell of a brilliant job anyway, you don't see such professional editing around Youtube.

  • barringer82, is there anyway you can post a tracklist for this video?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Amazing, I was forgetting what came from where, it was like a new entity. I'm also glad you included The Last Waltz.

  • Isn't the Last Waltz like a concert movie?

  • Yes, but with Marty's sense of style and some insightful interviews. Amazing music of course.

  • He should have won the best director oscar a few times.

  • 0:34-0:35, so beautifully synchronised. How did you do it?

  • Luck

  • "40 years worth of film from the second greatest American director."

    Who's the first?

  • that one's just been posted

  • Sorry. I haven't seen it.

By the way, Kubrick's my favorite too. By far. No matter how much I like Scorsese, Eastwood or Michael Mann, among many others like Leone, Lean, Wilder, some Hitchcock, the best of Coppola, and, more recently, Paul Thomas Anderson, whose latest masterpiece would be my pick for this year's top Oscars.

Close to Kubrick, I guess only Welles.
