Though the VA is a bit rough and the character designs are somewhat garish it still stands up, definitely for its time at least I think. There's definitely a reason for it being re-released. Hopefully they re-make the 3 you mentioned as well. 7 has to come someday. PSVita ports look likely.

ACTUALLY this trailer is from a really old remake campaign that had their funding cut or something. The project was abandoned. Why the title is misleading into 2012 is beyond me.

@cramernjen you're kind of right only they weren't almost done, they were actually not even close to 10% before they got canned. I remember when they used to have a site and everything which they updated. As soon as they showed this video of the intro Square got scared of someone else creating a better game with thier idea so they decided to be major corporate dicks and took this down as soon as they got wind of it. It's a real shame though it was showing promise.

@cramernjen Ah that's understandable, both of them were fan made games. It was definitely a shame that Square never let either of these wonderful works become finished. It would have been one thing if they were actually planning on doing something with them but it has gone on record in several instances that there are no plans on making a sequel or a prequel to either of the Chrono games. It's nice to see another fan of these projects :-)
Its just as well that no remake was ever made, because first of all, the game is good enough as it is already, and second of all, IF a remake was ever to be considered for real, it would do well to wait untill the videogame-technology has advanced so far that it can provide the excellent quality for video and audio that Chrono Trigger deserves. (=nothing but the best).
@MetallSwede This is called a test. They did create Chrono Break, just never went to full adjustments. Most games start out foolish looking and turn out epic. You only get to see the final adjustments of the product. Seeing Chrono Break like this means that they had it for you, but canned it because of difficulties or thought it wouldn't be monetarily beneficial.

3D remakes of games that look good in 2D? naw, I'd much prefer the 2D just redone in 1080p. Unless they pulled off a super polished and stylized 3D look. Something that looks like this wouldn't cut it. I love that they worked so hard on this, but PS2 3D doesnt cut it for the look. Like look at the Witcher 2, that fidelity (obviously at best settings on PC) with a bit more cel-shading and other things going on would be much more fitting for a modern CT game.
Square-Enix are fucking morons. These people worked hard on this remake, getting every little detail correct. SE could've at least FUNDED the completion of this game, struck a deal where they make a bigger % of profit from it, while giving some to this underground company. Like what's so hard about saying "we're honored and impressed that you love our shit. How about you continue, but we distribute this masterpiece and make a bit more money than you." Release the game via the pirate bay. If you want to avoid lawsuits when you DO announce the game... go to the salvation army, buy an old laptop for 10 dollars.. connect via wifi at the library and trash the laptop when you're done. THAT is how Anonymous does it ;)

Sure most of the people that comment on this video would say they would buy this game, but don't be surprised if the project is scrapped. Today's companies only appeal to the 14-17 year old suburban white kid, or the college frat boy. Today's audience wouldn't buy anything that didn't have guns/a flashy commercial, or trailer. Think I'm lying? Guess how many copies Rayman Orgins sold...... (Also they're ripping the chrono series out of it's grave to make some quick cash...)

@Hyper72Valiant No, it was a fan made project of making the Chrono Trigger in 3D. When it was almost finished, Square decided to send a Cease and Desist letter and shut down the project. To this day square has done almost nothing with the Chrono Trigger IP. Good job square.

@cramernjen you're kind of right only they weren't almost done, they were actually not even close to 10% before they got canned. I remember when they used to have a site and everything which they updated. As soon as they showed this video of the intro Square got scared of someone else creating a better game with thier idea so they decided to be major corporate dicks and took this down as soon as they got wind of it. It's a real shame though it was showing promise.

@LugeoOrbis Well, not immediately after the video. According to the creator of this, they downloaded images and video(s) from his website multiple times. Then a couple weeks later, they sent the C&D. Sorry about the "almost finished." I was thinking of Crimson Echoes, which was 98% complete when they shut it down.

@cramernjen Ah that's understandable, both of them were fan made games. It was definitely a shame that Square never let either of these wonderful works become finished. It would have been one thing if they were actually planning on doing something with them but it has gone on record in several instances that there are no plans on making a sequel or a prequel to either of the Chrono games. It's nice to see another fan of these projects :-)

Its just as well that no remake was ever made, because first of all, the game is good enough as it is already, and second of all, IF a remake was ever to be considered for real, it would do well to wait untill the videogame-technology has advanced so far that it can provide the excellent quality for video and audio that Chrono Trigger deserves. (=nothing but the best).

@MetallSwede This is called a test. They did create Chrono Break, just never went to full adjustments. Most games start out foolish looking and turn out epic. You only get to see the final adjustments of the product. Seeing Chrono Break like this means that they had it for you, but canned it because of difficulties or thought it wouldn't be monetarily beneficial.

3D remakes of games that look good in 2D? naw, I'd much prefer the 2D just redone in 1080p. Unless they pulled off a super polished and stylized 3D look. Something that looks like this wouldn't cut it. I love that they worked so hard on this, but PS2 3D doesnt cut it for the look. Like look at the Witcher 2, that fidelity (obviously at best settings on PC) with a bit more cel-shading and other things going on would be much more fitting for a modern CT game.

SE could've at least FUNDED the completion of this game, struck a deal where they make a bigger % of profit from it, while giving some to this underground company. Word of advice to anyone planning to develop a Chrono game. DO IT UNDERGROUND!!! Do not release trailers or any spec of info. In fact, make yourselves anonymous in the credits or use code names.
Release the game via the pirate bay. If you want to avoid lawsuits when you DO announce the game... go to the salvation army, buy an old laptop for 10 dollars.. connect via wifi at the library and trash the laptop when you're done. THAT is how Anonymous does it ;)
