thanks soo much. I'm doing top down raglan and this is the answer to my struggle with my circular needles. DPNs scare the wits out of me. when I first heard magic loop i thought it was some machine hahahah
This is amazing! Im so glad I came across this video. Im new to knitting and can never seem to fit the stitches on the right size circs. Thank you so much for this video!
What a PERFECT tutorial! I am a beginning knitter and haven't been able to master magic loop until now. On behalf of all newbie knitters - THANK YOU!!!
I used this method to make my first baby hat. I'm a new knitter and I'm afraid to use DPNs. This was so much easier and I didn't have to worry about the yarn falling off of the needles. I'm happy to have this technique in my knitting repertoire now. Thanks!
You do the best knitting tutorials! I am a beginning knitter and every time I get nervous about doing something new I come here and understand it right away. Your Magic Loop demo is the first time I've seen it and understood it. Thanks!
I had seen this method in a newsletter and wanted to try it but wasn't sure what to do. This video is awesome! I'm now knitting a set of mitts way faster than on dpns. :)
Thank you so much for this! I have been stressing badly because I just can't get the hang of dpns, but now this video has openen up all sorts of knitting possibilities! Thank you again!
Thanks for this video, it really made the method clear - I used to use 4 needles but have ended up with lots of odd ones in my bag 'cos I keep dropping them.
Thanks for this :) Tons of people love this method and I've seen it mentioned so many times, but didn't know until now what it was exactly. Turns out I've used it without knowing it, but only sometimes if I didn't have the right size dpn's available at the time. I find it very slow going as you have to keep moving the cable around...
How fast can You knit this way? I would be interested to know, so I would know if it's something worth learning properly.
This is a dream come true! Double pointed needles seems difficult to use (I admit I am scared of those things). This seems much simpler and I can't wait to try this. I just happened to stumble upon this one. I love your videos. You explain things very clearly. Thank you so much!!!! :)
Yes knitwitch I actually love circular needles rather than straight because I always carry work whether crochet or knit wherever I go. circulars are small and I put point covers on the ends and off I go and again I really appreciate your WAY of demonstration. I'd much rather see a huge shot of the knit stitch you're teaching than seeing all of you. I'm extremely sure you are an attractive queen but I wanna knit right? Thank you you're great
Wow, I had heard of the magic loop but just didn't feel I wanted to learn something new..I like my DPN...but with four children, I am tired of dropping my extra needle and having it roll under the chairs in the waiting room of the doctor, dentist, or in the car seats while picking kids up from school. I getting ready to start a round project with 80 stitches...I'm not really sure how to "split" that up with the magic loop method but I'll just get started...that's always the best way to learn!
seems simple enough! thank you, you know out of all the tutorials and I have watched a few today, I find your voice the nicest, and you also don't rant on on other things.. none crochet related for what i am very thankful ;) it makes the tutorial more pleasant to watch
I just watched your majic loop knitting and I loved it. I do knit small diameter knitting with dpns and I like that but it was fun doing the majic loop technique.
I have the knitpicks options set and I have to admit, I haven't been using them much at all. I feel right at home with dpns. I bought size 8 dpns for the first time a month ago and I've been trying any pattern I like that calls for them. Right now I'm working on the Sweater Bag and it calls for a 29" circular. The 32" is way too long for it. I think I might switch to my 60" and try the magic loop. Thank you for the video. Are you on Ravelry?
wow i also have a circular needle, but i didn't know how to use it, i was a little frustration with that, and i dedicated more time to knit with the needle.... thanks for the video, is very usefull
Yay, I got it, I've been trying for a week to figure it out by myself and could even get the first stitch. Now I see from this video that I missed sliding the right needles stitched down on the cable.
thank you thank you for posting this. i have a book which instructs the magic loop method but it is something hard to understand unless you actually see it. i could not figure it out until i saw your video. thanks a bunch!
When I was a newbie knitter, I didn't realize circulars would eventually be too big for knitting in the round and struggled to finish up a hat with them anyway. I ended up doing something so similar to this, I'm surprised.
What a clear, understandable video! Both in looks and in content.
I just recently learned the 2 circular needle method and love it. But I wanted to make an item calling #2 needles and I only nave one set. So this will be perfect for what I want to do. Of course, I'm going to practice a bit before I try the real thing.
I have done this method and also dpn's for me this method takes longer, each time having to slide the stiches, pick the yarn back up and such. But I knit Continental and wonder if this is why. Very clear vid and I wish I had seen this when I was first learning this technique.
This is the second video that I have tried to use to do this technique and despite following them, my project is inside out. I am knitting every stick and should end up with stockingette stitch, but I end up with garter stitch on the outside and stockingette stitch on the inside. I have read that i can just turn it right side out later, but I don't want to do that, I would prefer to knit it right side out out. Any ideas about what I am doing wrong?
thank you for the video! I used this to learn about a month ago and I was able to use a 16'' US 5 to decrease and finish off a hat!

80 divided by 2 is 40, so co 80 stitches then follow her instructions keeping 40 stitches on each needle.

Try to push your knitted piece back thru the needles, much like you would turn a sock right-side-out.
