@lallu20100 Russian equipment has a history of falling short against US made equipment. It's their military philosophy that is reflected in their military gear. They try to win with shear numbers, their gear is much less sophisticated, not intended to survive long on the battlefield. India has a much smaller military than Russia, you need gear that can survive longer on the battlefield and keep your soldiers and pilots alive longer. Russian made gear and India's military are not a good match.

The reason the AWACS is important is that the AWACS is able to spot all nonstealth aricraft within 650 km from the AWACS and relay in info to the F-15's. Also India does not have experience building high end electronics, so I don't think the Su-30MKI is OK

If India is more concerned about getting new tech even if it is not the best then they did make the best choice, but as a combat veteran I think the people who risk their lives for their country should have the best weapons.

Better close combat charachteristics and most certainly a more powerful radar in BARS which will be upgraded to an AESA with time. @rohanramesh123 I looked up the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 (India was decisively defeated by China in 1962) and India lost 59 aircraft and Pakistan lost 20 aircraft (I used Indian and neutral numbers).

As a combat vet I have to say that when the equipment is equal the man and training is the difference (ie Mig 15 v. F-86) but the Gulf War of 1991 proved that equipment matters.

The main problem I have is that I love the people of India and I want them to have the best.
