lol i was test driving one of these today and stepped on the gas, when it went all the way past redline without switching to second i was a little un-eased. Got one anyway :D
my moms lease was up on her 2008 328i and now she has a 2010 2011 w.e 328i x drive the shit is slow as balls the 328i was so much faster and responsive but i guess with the new mods on the x drive its supposed to handle better w.e
I ran with one of these today on the highway up to about 110. I was behind him, he wasnt pulling away and I wasnt really catching up must...goes nice. This was in a stock SRT4 230whp
seeing as how the 328xi has a governer limiting it to 210 kph (130.48 mph), it's very doubtful you got it to 137 and pretty much impossible that it would have gone to 155. Even with the governer removed, 155 would probably not happen in this car.
u dont know to drive i have the same car in white coupe i go 0 to 60 in 5.7 u got to know when to get it by the torque with this car it is underated by bmw the service specialist told me it is 265 hp
Times can vary based on weather conditions, and the condition of the vehicle itself. Mine's an automatic, so there really isn't any driver variability involved.

well, pretty pathetic. I was debating b/w a 328xi, an Audi S4 and a Subaru Spec.B. The BMW and Subaru are about the same price loaded, with the Bimmer being a bit cheaper. Audi is in a price category of its own. Of all, the fastest by far is the Subie, with the nicest interior going to the Audi. BMW ranked last in terms of performance and design. Ended up getting the SpecB. and don't regret it for a moment. Of course. there will be always be zealots who will chose brand over performance...
Actually, I did not choose brand over performance, I chose quality, comfort, and luxury over performance. I test drove an Audi A4 and a Lexus IS250 alongside this one, and I actually wanted to buy the Lexus originally because I was fond of its design. So I was quite open minded about it, thank you very much.
Thank god you did not get the POS IS250. They have a cool design, but geezus, that car feels like a power wheel. I own a e36 328i and a e46 M3, and would never get an asian POS. By the way, I truck my pups around in a GX470 so yea I'm guilty, but for sport and comfort compromised nicely you got a great car!
kinda harsh, especially since the bimmer obviously handles better and has better quality. plus, most people in the market for a bmw arent gonna go to subaru too. and if all he wanted was performance, he couldve gotten a 335i. that and the g35 are way better in the all around category, and at the same time show you can have both brand and performance
as quick as your old g35? my friend has a brand new 328xi, and we've done some runs. needless to say, he is no match for my g35. btw, be careful of the speedometer error on bmw's. i used to have a gti, and i based acceleration off of the speedo, so i thought my old gti was about as quick as the g35 to 100. however, my gti read about 5mph too fast on the dials, and the g35 is within 1-2mph at 60. in reality, when it says im at 100 in the g35, i am, but the gti was only at 95ish.
I have no doubt about that. I know this for a fact since I easily smoked the g35. My buddy owns the G37, which supposedly has more HP than the 335i. Guess what? The G37 got smoked too.
The infinitis are way overrated. I don't care how much HP the G37 claims to have, it's not to the wheels. BMW's specs are closer to what is actually delivered to the wheels. Inifinits claims are lost in the driveline
lol that's not true at all...bmw's website hp claims are not to the wheels either. If you read on the website they list it as SAE horsepower...and if you knew anything about that then you would know that American SAE horsepower is measured at the engine's crankshaft and doesn't account for transmission losses....so guess what...they're not listing "TO THE WHEELS" either. Either way...the g37 is cheaper and will outperform the shit out of the 3 series bmw's on any given day.
My point is that IMO I believe that infinitis lose more hp in the driveline. Typically it's 20-25%, but seriously I've driven BMW's with less hp gains at the crankshaft than infinitis/nissan 350z to be exact and it seems that infinitis do not deliver as much power to the wheels. Perfect example is when I raced a dude in a supped up g37s supposedly with nismo, full exhaust, supercharger, and something else and he said he should be pushing 435 and I beat him but 3 car lengths in a e39 m5.
Yeah i didn't buy it to be a street racer, but I was curious to see just how quick it is. I think 230hp is a bit underrated based on this performance- I'd put it around 250.
It's as quick to 100mph as my old G35 was, and that was rated at 50 more hp, and it was lighter. So yes, I think 230hp is a bit underrated. Mine is fully loaded, so I'd hardly call it a brandwhore, but to each his own.
yeah the 328 is plenty fast, its no comparison to the 335i but it is still a quick sedan. Also yes BMW engines are underated bc they use straight 6 instead of V6 and the cylinder layout has an effect on how the SAE tests hp and torque. Also this car is not as quick as a G35 by any means. The BMW speedometers are very inaccurate. You may of thought you reached 100, but u were only doin about 94-95 mph. Trust me, next time there is a "your speed is" machine set up, compare your speedo to it
actually most cars are not exactly accurate and most if not all error on the side of telling you your going faster than you actually are. This is due to the fact that if the speedometer says your going 65 and your infact going 63 they won't be able to say you are speeding (and sue) if it was inaccurate on the other end such as it being 68
thats 100% true. All cars have to be ever so slightely higher to avoid being sued for faulty equiptment when being pulled over for a speeding ticket. However cars like Hyundai, Honda, Toyota, and Mercedes are all within 1% of error. GM believe it or not is the most accurate speedometer assembler, they are only about .4% error. BMW are signifigantly inaccurate, by about 5 % of error. I have a 2006 BMW 530i and everytime i pass a speed trap, the speed displayed is signifigantly less than mine
I agree with you, but it does not only pertain to BMW's all the vehicles I have driven past a speed machine has shown me between 3-5 off of what my speedometer says.
You are right it is underated. The actual HP is some where around 250, while the 335i is around 350hp. BMW downrated their cars so that they can still sell out their old M3, since the 335 is pretty much exactly like the 2004-2006 M3. As for eyetoeye, stop hating cause your money ain't right and you can't afford a nice car. Stick to you Civic, kid.

He has a 328...Not the 335 fuck head.And it gets 230 HP...Not 265.
TrickTizzle 3 years ago
except the 328xi is 230 hp and 0-60 in 5.7 is not possible on a stock setup...it's closer to 7.4 on an auto transmission.

That was a good run, definitely in the 6's.
As for bmw down rating their horsepower, theres no doubt in my mind that they do.
With my '08 328i ive slaughtered the 268hp '08 accord and e350 benzo.
