I love the idea of this show making the decepticons massive war machines that took multiple autobots to beat, and I like how they added to that by making the autobots overall smaller. I however hate all of the super human villains that show up throughout the series, I know they wanted something different from decepticons to make them seem like a bigger threat, but really? did we need a little girl on a flying pony, a green arrow ripoff, creepy looking fast guy, and a robot stopping watch?
Well, throughout the series, ALL of the human villain characters have at least only 4 appearances each throughout the series. And besides, most of their appearances are short (only 1 or 2 minutes, with the exception of the episode "S.U.V."). So really, there is nothing to be complain about.
Well, if the human villains actually have a big role in the plot then THAT's a valid complaint.

Have you gone actually gone back and re-watched Energon with a fond-memories-of-childhood-aside, objective eye? I didn't grow up on Energon but I watched it again recently for my

While the art style isn't bad and is toy-accurate, the animation of the TFs is barely up to South Park level, barely able to walk (seriously, have you seen Ironhide run?), and limited to open mouth-closed mouth expressions. They had to "resort" to hand-drawn animation when the CG finger-puppets couldn't emote.
Which is simply to say that Animated is not its art style. There's more to it than just skinny characters. And the animation _quality_ is not the same as the animation _style_.
Or perhaps more bluntly, it is exceedingly ironic for a fan of a pot such as an Energon, to be criticizing a kettle such as Animated, based on its animation. Style, quality or otherwise.

I loved this show, to me, this is as close to perfection for a transformer TV series can get. It has everything, action, humor, character development, and even drama. What other cartoon has that nowadays? Also, G-Whiners, f**k off, okay? I know that you're transformers fans, but that doesn't mean u have to say every tf series that isn't your precious G1 is awful.
Eh, why argue? All the Transformers series are great, other than the Movie and the dubbed anime, IMHO. This was an awesome show; it really did a good job at updating G1 for modern times. I especially liked the fact that Optimus wasn't technically the leader or was always the one with the best plan. Seriously I think there was a bit too much focus on him in the old days. I did have problems with the plotholes at the end, though. =/
It's funny when you think how in the classic series, the only one in this group who survives is Bumblebee. Sure Optimus is brought back but I hated that episode cause it ruined the whole him being dead. Death scenes are no good if the character comes back. It ruins the mood.
for your information, this show in my opinion is better than G1(even though G1 started it all, i'll give it credit for that). It had better storylines, humor, more character development and showed optimus' struggle to become a better leader. I still like G1 though and Beast Wars as well.
I love this show (no i didn't grow up with G1 but i'm not a little child either) it makes me die a little inside when i see people hate on this show, and for what? G1 wasn't a holy grail of western animation, it was paper thin and only served to sell toys (true Animated is as well but i don't consider a masterpiece of television, it's just damn entertaining) PEOPLE, it's called nostalgia, it taints your opinions on things, think before you type.
Everyone is so picky these days. I, for one, happen to be thrilled about this newer, more modern series. In some ways, I like it better than the G1 version. For one thing, the characters are dreamier! (Especially Blurr; he's my all-time favorite!) Plus, Sari's awesome! The only bad thing I have to say about the series is that it ended far too soon, with far too many loose ends.

During Animated's run, you see Optimus Prime evolve from an idealistic but diffident leader of a bunch of "glitch-detail flunkies" to self-assured commander and hero to both Cybertron and Earth who, along with his team, saved both planets and took down the most ruthless Decepticon who ever lived.
This is called character development. You've possibly not run into it before.

I'm just not a fan, I grew up with G1 and don't really like the whole Ben 10 style of animation esp the fact that these are metal robots but are often portrayed like they are made of rubber with the quite illustrative movements.
I grew up with G1 as well. I'm not saying you have to like Animated, because you don't. Just keep in mind that the franchise has to evolve to engage children in 2008-09.
The first pictures spawned an outcry of almost universal hatred from fan sites. But once people watched it, many found storylines, humor, continuity, G1 homages and character development to enjoy.
Can I just suggest before you dismiss it, watch a full episode, eg: the pilot. Then hate it for what it is, not just the art style.

This is one of the better Transformers series. And those who say that G1 is better: This at least has some plots, where G1 only had 1 plot: Decepticons want Energon, steal it from the humans, Autobots stop them or get their asses kicked. That's a lot of G1 episodes in a nutshell.

They're not any more ridiculous than Dr Archeville, the brain-dead fatso Sean Berger, and Lord Chumley, a British dude whose tactics included a billboard with a giant hand to grab and forcibly transform Blaster. Powdered Sugar was at least an ironic spoof - "it's My Little Pony... now with mega-destructo-laser ray!" Professor Princess appeared in 2 episodes, the Angry Archer in 3. Their first appearances were brief, and one them they appeared together. Out of 42. So, that's what's wrong with 9% of the episodes. What about the others?
The best thing about nostalgia is finding that some things are actually better than you remember, this was my personal experience with Beast Wars, the worst aspect is finding things that aren't as great as you remember, and being neck-deep in denial about it.
This show was terrific but why did the transformers have teeth. Aren't they supposed to look artificial? Ah who gives a shit!

I dont think they ever explained where she came from and what exactly she is.
Her father just found her in his lab one day and she did not know that she was a machine for all her life.
She did not seem to be the same kind of robot as the Transformers.

This series isn't bad, but the transformers look like shit.
They should be bulky, not these skinny bodies.
The best remake was armada tbh, good story, and they had a proper look and a great remix of the original theme.
Beast wars was an awesome series aswell.

I'm only going to say this once:
I loved this show, to me, this is as close to perfection for a transformer TV series can get. It has everything, action, humor, character development, and even drama. What other cartoon has that nowadays? Also, G-Whiners, f**k off, okay? I know that you're transformers fans, but that doesn't mean u have to say every tf series that isn't your precious G1 is awful.

Eh, why argue? All the Transformers series are great, other than the Movie and the dubbed anime, IMHO. This was an awesome show; it really did a good job at updating G1 for modern times. I especially liked the fact that Optimus wasn't technically the leader or was always the one with the best plan. Seriously I think there was a bit too much focus on him in the old days. I did have problems with the plotholes at the end, though. =/

It's funny when you think how in the classic series, the only one in this group who survives is Bumblebee. Sure Optimus is brought back but I hated that episode cause it ruined the whole him being dead. Death scenes are no good if the character comes back. It ruins the mood.

for your information, this show in my opinion is better than G1(even though G1 started it all, i'll give it credit for that). It had better storylines, humor, more character development and showed optimus' struggle to become a better leader. I still like G1 though and Beast Wars as well.

Begining with the girl was utter crap. But she begins to have a actual meaning in the story and the series overall gets better as you watch it.

I love this show (no i didn't grow up with G1 but i'm not a little child either) it makes me die a little inside when i see people hate on this show, and for what? G1 wasn't a holy grail of western animation, it was paper thin and only served to sell toys (true Animated is as well but i don't consider a masterpiece of television, it's just damn entertaining) PEOPLE, it's called nostalgia, it taints your opinions on things, think before you type.

Everyone is so picky these days. I, for one, happen to be thrilled about this newer, more modern series. In some ways, I like it better than the G1 version. For one thing, the characters are dreamier! (Especially Blurr; he's my all-time favorite!) Plus, Sari's awesome! The only bad thing I have to say about the series is that it ended far too soon, with far too many loose ends.

During Animated's run, you see Optimus Prime evolve from an idealistic but diffident leader of a bunch of "glitch-detail flunkies" to self-assured commander and hero to both Cybertron and Earth who, along with his team, saved both planets and took down the most ruthless Decepticon who ever lived.
This is called character development. You've possibly not run into it before.

@WaystedAges Which is what TFA Prowl did. If you check my channel, you'll see I just finished the Unicron Trilogy. It had some character development but undid or discarded most of it; Starscream, Megatron, Scorponok, Inferno, Demolishor...
However, I was speaking in a more general sense about deciding what is good based on the pretty pictures and not the content.

I'm just not a fan, I grew up with G1 and don't really like the whole Ben 10 style of animation esp the fact that these are metal robots but are often portrayed like they are made of rubber with the quite illustrative movements.

I grew up with G1 as well. I'm not saying you have to like Animated, because you don't. Just keep in mind that the franchise has to evolve to engage children in 2008-09.
The first pictures spawned an outcry of almost universal hatred from fan sites. But once people watched it, many found storylines, humor, continuity, G1 homages and character development to enjoy.
Can I just suggest before you dismiss it, watch a full episode, eg: the pilot. Then hate it for what it is, not just the art style.

This is one of the better Transformers series. And those who say that G1 is better: This at least has some plots, where G1 only had 1 plot: Decepticons want Energon, steal it from the humans, Autobots stop them or get their asses kicked. That's a lot of G1 episodes in a nutshell.

They're not any more ridiculous than Dr Archeville, the brain-dead fatso Sean Berger, and Lord Chumley, a British dude whose tactics included a billboard with a giant hand to grab and forcibly transform Blaster. Not to mention the non-human, non-Transformer villains like Torq III, Kremzeek and Deceptitran. All fun, perhaps, but certainly ridiculous. So I'd say they're about even really.

transformers prime is promissing, but the writers have a bad habbit of killing off nearly everyone they introduce! That's a bad sign for the series.

@ironomega G1 had them fighting taxis, an alligator, a British ponce, a cat, a witch, a disco, an electric discharge, a billboard and a crazy guy with a tin-foil head.
Powdered Sugar was at least an ironic spoof - "it's My Little Pony... now with mega-destructo-laser ray!" Professor Princess appeared in 2 episodes, the Angry Archer in 3. Their first appearances were brief, and one them they appeared together. Out of 42. So, that's what's wrong with 9% of the episodes. What about the others?
