Froglobster, I'm a Deadhead for thirty years myself, saw my first shows in 81, but I never really liked Touch Of Grey. And what I said was true, the Dead were better before the mainstream discovered them. When they were still the cult band. When If you said that you were a Deadhead, people looked at you with funny looks. Then the " touchheads " came along and didn't care for any song, but Touch Of Grey. Even if the Dead played the best Dark Star ever, it wouldn't matter to these people.

The Dead were much better before the mainstream finally discovered them with this song. After the video for this song came out and after 1988, the scene got worse. It wasn't the same. Thankfully, I got to see them before that.

They played with the same pizazz and class their old and new songs! Mainstream? They never shot directly for mainstream appearance and millions of deadheads worldwide love that album!

I like the early versions of this song better, before the "touchheads" overran the scene. Deadheads, listen to the early versions of touch of grey, throwing stones, they're much better in my opinion, maybe you'll like them better too.

I was a teenage Deadhead and was at this show at MSG. Word to the wise though: Don't tattoo yourself with anything you like at 22 - You're gonna feel like an ass 20 years from now. And if you don't, it means you're still listening to the same music at 40 that you did in high school, and that's pretty sad too.
