Secondo il mio parere, questa incisione,(la sua prima del sogno di manon, se non vado errato) e l'incisione di Caruso sono le migliori...Di Stefano mi prende e mi porta via con se...nella voce di Caruso c'è una malinconia sofferta in prima persona...Pippo sei grande

THIs is the greatest Lyric tenor EVER! the beauty of tone and style is unmatched even by the other great tenors. gigli MIGHT be the only other lyric to even come close. wunderlich is a close third. jussi is also there. BUT, cant match stefano's style nor the beauty!

It's a real shame his temperament lead him to approach way too heavy repertoire much too early.

I would have loved to hear him with this light voice on higher quality recordings than were technically possible in his earliest years.

(well, yeah I have recordings of 1953 etc., but his voice was already too forced in my taste. Then I have an entire CD full of 1944-47 recordings, which is just angelic singing)
