Yes, at first the 917 was unsettled and needed help to stay on the ground (test day body modification provided by a driver- not Piëch).

I think the top speed before the 917 at Le mans was about 200 and in one single year there was a car suddenly doing 240mph.

In the 918's defense, it may be important to note the 908 looked alot like a Ferrari Dino (which was to come years after). So maybe it's not sowrong for this car to resemble an F430.

Porsche provided Ferrari it's mid engine look .

yup very true, if my thinking is correct the 904gts also came before the dino, and the two cars are very similar looking. But yeah, the 917 would have been quite a shock! Especially the later 917/30 for Kan-Am, wow, 1580hp is still out of reach for most supercars. I really hope the 918 lives up to this legend, but then who are we kidding, its Porsche we are talking about, this thing is gonna kick arse!!!!!!

Wheelbase is too short. Looks like Jay Mays headlights. Undoubtedly this car exists because of the Ford GT.

Lots of stolen cues from the F430.

Rear end looks really nice.

@TtimWh I really like it. I just think the side looks a little too much like a spec ALMS racer. Overall, it's a brilliant car and I really like the way they are doing a play from the 917.

Is this car worthy of being called a 918? Many people don't understand that when the 917 came around, it was as if aliens had dropped it off for us to borrow. Described as a racing weapon, a couple of Porsche's pro drivers wouldn't even race in it. -Mythological.

Does the hybrid 918 carry this stature?
