We can tolerate each other and that might lead to mutual acceptance, civility, politeness, kindness, friendship, and maybe even everyone getting along with one another and having a great time.
Conversely, there is nothing more shocking and inspiring when people support a minority group when they're not a member of it.
That's how the Civil Rights movement turned the nation around: when people of different skin colors joined hands and said we don't have to fight each other anymore and we refuse to. We don't have to be afraid of each other anymore.
But, today, there is still the hate and the bigotry and the bullying.
There is something so sad about any majority banding together to hate a minority group. And that's all gays and lesbians are: a genetic minority, people who are very slightly different, like left-handed people or geniuses or talented violinists.
And somehow it seems even sadder when one minority group hates another.
We all know that someday children are going to look up at parents and say why was there ever a time when grown men and women hated people just for falling in love and forming a sweet, loving couple.
Who in their right mind hates love?
Who in their right mind?
And we know that that is happening all around the country and all around the world already in -some- families.
