Dave you always make me pround to be a drummer!!! The way you do your little fills on the cymbals is amazing. I never got the chance to see you in PJ live but from the materials I have heard over the years you play almost exactly what is on the albums!!!!
Awsome rythm & energy! I won´t say that Abbruzzese is the best Pearl Jams drummer because i don´t think it´s about it and i do not have the experience to say so... they are all good drummers but this is the one who makes their music more beautiful to my ears!
Why isnt there 400 comments about how energetic this performance was and Kickass, Pearl Jam will allways rock and moments like these we can only be grateful they're on YouTube!
Me too!!! I'll never forget it, Lollapalooza '92, Berry, Ontario, Canada!!! Incredible, unforgettable experience!! I even remember what Eddie was wearing, brown t-shirt which he managed to lose while diving through the crowd!!!
I think its foolish to trash Dave, but I think its equally foolish to say the band sucks without hiim. These shows from his time in the band are amazing and intense, but so are the shows today. Its just a different energy. The band has played amazing shows with Dave, Jack, and Matt!
Ha ha, that shit got crazy at the end! Hey thanks Dave, your drumming has always been a huge inspiration and it's an absolute delight to be able to even say that to you online! You're won of the best drummers to ever grace the set period! All the best and take care dude.
I remember seeing PJ on this 92 Lollapalooza tour...DA was badass, hitting so hard with so much groove. I miss him, he influenced me more than I know.
dave, pj sucks ass with out you. but matt is great but you made that band. i am a musician in thee saee boat. well here we are. two great drummers making people happy at what we do. call me and we have other projects that invole local buddies, real ons!! Drum on my friend! mike 951 on spaunn!!
Eddie Vedder has a lot of energy but he seemed to go through somewhat of a crisis with being in the spotlight and apparently the band ended up in a restraint mode where they began to favor more of a stripped down sound which comes off less bombastic than Abruzzese was, so he had to go. I don't think they wanted to be a band restricted to holding the line for all of rock music as they'd been identified heavily with grunge which was what delayed the takeover by rap and teen pop. Not their style.
"loserhead" you need to do some research on Soundgarden dude. Look up Jesus Christ Pose. Pearl Jam started getting away from the big arena sound after their second album. Only recently have they ramped up their sound a little in their live show, but the overall energy and stage presence is nowhere near what it was in the very early 90's. Cameron's style of playing for PJ was made to fit into the role they wanted out of him.
Pearl Jam wasn't as fun in 2008 at lollapolooza as back in 1992, i think its because Matt Cameron brings the pussy side of drums to a band that packs so much engergy
dave is skilled but there too much going on esp with the cymbals and beats r a lil frantic,
where as Jack was allways so in the pocket and heavy...i dont know i guess its all a matter of taste but i can def understand why people love Dave dude is a badass and aside fromJACK i thought he was the best fit for PJ
damn i miss this stuff, and damn i miss watching dave a., he's a huge influence. everyone seems to be having such a great time. nowadays its all blast beats and 320 bpm. dave a should get back out there.
Thanks for sharing!!! I will always love PJ, but damn I sure miss DaveA. LOL on Stone being gay until I saw him with his baby. I don't think Stone will be breaking guitar anymore.
Dave was very expressive and dynamic and his style was well suited to PJ, Matt cameron is an equal as far as skills but Dave just had that magic flavor, he really kinda Jammed and had that sweet sounding snare, only comparison is Dave Krusen, the 2 daves reigned supreme, shame they couldn't keep it together, but they both did record 2 of the best albums PJ have ever produced.......awesome!!
DAVE SHOWBOATED HIS MONEY AND DID NOT WANT TO STAY within EDDIES rulze and regulations of the band!!! DAVE HAD THE RIGHT TALENT but NOT THE RIGHT ATTITUDE EDDIE NEVER REALLY LIKED DAVE FROM THE START SO IT DIDNT TAKE MUCH TO GET THE BOOT!!!! U KNOW EDDIE DONT PLAY THAT SHIT!!! MATT TOTALLY KICKS ASS!!! AND PJ HAS NEVER REALLY LOST ANY SLEEP OVER DAVES ABSENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sometimes the right thing is to talk before acting non sence and sending the base guitar to fire the drummer. and the best thing in yout stupid coment is that dave himself answerd u.
Without a doubt, Dave A. was one talented dude. Too bad he must've been such a douche they had to kick him out. But if you ask me, he probly ushered a new style of drumming, (Korn, nu-metalers, etc.) for better or probably for the WORST...
After watching this, I don't think I will be able to watch and listen PJ anymore... because now I remember how they were once great, full of life, energy and most importantly, creativity.
Dave, you delivered a final blow to PJ by publishing these videos! :D
Oh and what's with people dissing the later stuff?Yield and No Code are their two best albums in my opinion.Still though, this was as exciting as it gets.
good albums no doubt, but the best? Come on. That was the lull period of Pearl Jam . Jack sucked the life out of the live shows. Studio albums were good, but the live shows were painful to watch.
