Ok, let's be realistic, I want to make games, too. But, I can't be a good level designer without great human-interaction and humanities skills. And, for programming, especially, it would mean nothing to me if I didn't gain real work experience, with a company, or didn't understand computer logic. Really, these schools are for people who never had knowledge in their desired field, previously. I take AP JAVA and learning c#, this won't do for me. I need challenges, not fabrications.
So what if you're in the middle of testing level 3, when someone comes in and says to you, "Hey guys, are you almost done? I have another game I need designed." Do you tell the person you need to tighten up the graphics?
i c u r joking, but I'm still a STUDENT. I haven't had any1 hire me 4 a job yet. Besides, developers don't even do the TESTING. In the video, students are just enjoying the fruits of their labor. It's an AD that I had no part in making.
online courses. many westwood online students try to justify attending a complete fucking joke of a school by saying that the quality of work you do takes precedence over what school you went to when it comes time to look for a job. well then if that is the case you could just go to community college and teach yourself more and better than westwood and save yourself a fortune in student loans. the only redeeming quality of WOL imo was the student club and there are plenty of other clubs out ther
I go to WOL to and am in my final 3 or 4 terms and study Game Art & Design. I have had a pretty great experience, and yes it absolutely depends on the student. I have worked very hard and as a result, it shows. I might be getting a job at a 3d animation company in South Korea.
If someone turns you down solely because what you think isn't a good school, then they aren't doing their job in the first place. They are looking for talent. Work hard and you'll get that talent.
Stop the BS on WOL as if you guys think you can get a job at big companies right a way with those attitude. You work on the coffee and burn the midnight oil for a degree.
Not true I graduated from WOL in 2008employed as a graphics designer even before graduating and now swtich to 3D modeling with some GD as well for an media ad company. IT DEPENDS ON THE STUDENT.....HAHAH!
Good luck with the debts and also not many people respecting your degree. I am not going to a school where i will get what you are learning and paying less than you are paying in one semester for the whole thing.
I go to WOL and I love it. I'm currently taking a NINE-credit course (SG210 - Fundamentals of Game Engine Development) and learning how to create a user-interactive graphical application. I think you're just SCARED!
Here in L.A. we don't get too many ads for Westwood college but we get nonstop ads for Calif. Institute of Culinary Arts, ITT Tech, DeVry, and Everest College. We no longer get ads for recording engineer school (lol--what a joke) but we get a few ads for airplane mechanic school. Just think-- a degree in three years and $50,000 in debt and five calls every day from Sallie Mae for the rest of your life. That's worse than the stuff in "Saw V".
