It was during the late period of the war that Skynet finally decided to make the T-800 model more resilient since by that time the Ressistance had aquired plasma weapons which were quite effective in destroying terminators. He also made other modifications on the T-800 which would then become the T-850. At the start of T3 when it showed the future war, the terminators in that scene were actually T-850.

@barbiquearea True. In the T3 game and in the background in T3, the Air Force Base, you can see some a T-900 which are basically Arnold's weaker version of the T-X. No on broad weaponry or liquid metal, but they are powered by a plasma reacter, like the T-X, instead of just fuel cells.

@reptile202 I would have thought the T-900 may have been too expensive to mass produce. Skynet may have only created a small number of them and treated them as 'elite terminators' like the T-1000. Then again in the T3 game they were pretty numerous. Skynet may have had the resources to mass produce them on a large scale. Either that or he decided to make as many of them as possible as a last ditch effort to fight the Ressistance.

Not to mention they had on board weapons and polyalloy. The Ressistance had a really hard time fighting the T-1000 which were also feared invincible. @barbiquearea well, the T-850 was better than the T-1000 because of streanght. the T-1000 was very hard to destroy, but, this terminators didn't had the apropiated wepons. yes, the resistence had trouble against this model in with normal wepons, but the plasma wepoins were prety good to destroy this model in seconds.

the T-1000 is very weak against heat, and plasma is very hot and this model was better in infiltration missions, the model had the element of surprise in the right moment.

The Ressistance did use plasma cannons against them which although managed to stun them, they were still able to regenerate and keep fighting. On the other hand for some reason the T-X's plasma cannon is capable of destroying a T-1000 in one shot. I think that is because the T-X had pure plasma while the Ressistance had phased plasma.

@barbiquearea the T-850 was able of resisting a direct plasma cannon impat, without much damage. also, the T-850 was able of matching a T-X, making that fight equal. the T-850 is abel of crushing a human scull in seconds. so, to be honest, if the resistence had the power to fight this model and the T-1000, maybe the T-X would not be much different. the T-850 is maybe the strongest terminator, but, the T-X is faster, with better wepons and more inteligent.

I mean she let the T-850 take some easy shots at her and allowed him to give everything he got, but she still remained unphased and overpowered him. Not to mention earlier in the film the T-850 admitted to being obsolete compared to the T-X who was state of the art.

@barbiquearea well, i think that she was all out. her mission was to terminate john and kate, so she should had terminated the T-850 fast to prevent interuptions. it is suposed that the T-X is a terminator of terminators, yet, the T-850 was beating her. the T-X makes the T-850 obsolet, because of her wepons, but in that fight, she didn't had the plasma cannon, that is why the T-850 fought her, because he knew that he had a chance to win without her wepons. at the end, she used the flame thrower.

According to his own scanners he only had a 4.3% chance of winning. Maybe that could have been counting the plasma cannon at that time but with such heavy odds stacked against him I don't think he would have won even in pure melee. Besides the reason why he fought her was to give John and Kate time to escape.

@MaximumPayne12 No, this Arnold model was confirmed to be a T-850. I believe it was stated in a documentary or in the making of Terminator 3. In T3, in the background, you can also see a T-900 in production, which is also another model of Arnold in the games. I'm not sure if the T-900 model in the T3 background is also suppose to be a Arnold model too though. After all, T-900s in the games and movies can be two different things. But, the T-900 is basically a watered down TX.

When he was shot, you saw wounds. He recoiled. They slowed him down. He reacted promptly. It was a real fight...

It wasn't Arnold slamming some invincible super hot CGI chick around with endless lame special effects. The fights go absolutely nowhere for that reason, and I think that's a good way to bore the audience
