I heard somebody say that Swahili is "pidgin Arabic", talk about reaching.
The only Arabs (or arabized people) that settle in East Africa in significant numbers was Omanis mainly during the 18th and 19th century. During this period and onwards, the large influx of Arabic loan words occurs and that's where people get this theory that Swahili is a "mixture of Bantu and Arabic". English has way more loan words then Swahili (from more sources too) but it's still an Germanic language.

I heard somebody say that Swahili is "pidgin Arabic", talk about reaching.
The only Arabs (or arabized people) that settle in East Africa in significant numbers was Omanis mainly during the 18th and 19th century. During this period and onwards, the large influx of Arabic loan words occurs and that's where people get this theory that Swahili is a "mixture of Bantu and Arabic". English has way more loan words then Swahili (from more sources too) but it's still an Germanic language.

Can everyone just pay attention for a sec, and think! Swahili is not a tribe, lineage, or area. It's a language, a new one at that. It's a mish-mash of a few languages. Look it up! The word Swahili is an ARABIC word that means coastal. Swahili was developed to help sea traders, from different countries, communicate. Swahili is made up of : Arabic ( they were more dominant so a lot of their vocab is used), Kikoyo ( Big tribe, good traders), Indian ( Almost all people traded with them).+ others.

Who brought the "arabic" language to Africa? Arabic is semitic and is related to languages like Gurage, Amharic, Tigre, and Tigrinya...ALL still spoken in East Africa today. Tigrinya is even thought to be the mother of Arabic. It should be noted that Islam does not promote this racist ideology that many Arabs had. After all, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) clearly has said no Arab is better than a non-Arab, and no White is better than a Black, and vice-e-versa.
Islam sees all races as one in the same, and in the Quran, God states he created us in different groups/races so that we may "know one another"
The Arabs got it twisted, cuz it never said degrade one another.

Historians never say how much Romans took from the Greeks, or how the Greeks took ideas from the Kemets. I love history, but not false history, Africans have done great things, but they never get any credit. Even if they do, it must have been introduced to them, give me a break. That's what Europeans have been doing for the longest, exchanging ideas from one another. I'm black American, Americans love Basketball, we didn't invent bball, but we perfected it. The Romans were never the great people they were because of their philosophy/science. They were great for other things, the scholarship was heavily based on Greek thinking. Greek civilization is thought to have originated in Crete, were early ciilization was heavily influenced by the Egyptians and Phoenicians. I just finished reading a book by Bertrand Russell in which he said that Western civ is parttially Greek(/Roman) and partially Eastern (Hebrew/Punic/Egyptian/Persian).
