  • @nathand3 No, in the Last Of The Time Lords, episode 13 of season three of Doctor Who, in the end of that episode Captain Jack says that the people from where he lived called him the Face of Boe because he was the first to sign up for the time agency.

  • If he burned to death, he would heal. In fact, if he was burned and didn't die, he would still heal. Thats his power, not only immortality but the abillity to heal wounds. Watch Mirical Day?

  • i personally believe that because he was one being that he evolved faster, eventually evolving beyond everything except his head

  • NO, in the Torchwood hie is literally blown up and the remaining pieces sew themselves back together, thus he can't die even if he gets blown to smithereens, quite literally

  • My theory is that his body rottend so until he couldn't use it any more, so they expanded his head and put all of his organs in there.

  • If he's caught on fire, he would just slowly grow back.

  • if he got burned his body would slowly grow back, i happens in Torchwood children of earth - he's blown up and then comes back to life

  • When nine hundred years old you reach, look as good you will not, hmm?

  • Jack mentions that he still ages, but very slowly. The implication is that he lives for so long and ages so much that....through mutation, deformation, reincarnation whatever the case.....he becomes the face of boe.

  • Guys, he isn't immortal. He has an extremely high amount of life force and uses up each time he dies. He evolved into the Face of Boe over time and died when his life force ran out

  • @MegaSerpent1 I see you don't watch Torchwood Or Doctor who then.

  • LOL. I can see him on fire, puffing up and melting like a giant marshmallow. That's how he ended up looking like Bo, lol.

  • Dude, don't u watch torchwood! He got blew up but eventually reformed

  • Chuck Jack into a container of sulphuric acid.

That should stop him recovering for a while

  • In Miracle Day it explains that he ages, very very slowly but he does age. So if anything, he being immortal just let him evolve into something new, i.e. the Face of Boe.

  • You idiot in children of earth he got blew up he still survived

  • too bad, this could've actually been a decent theory if he just showed the next part on the season finale where he said he used to be called the face of boe... like that's not a big hint at all

  • Well, based on what we saw on Miracle Day perhaps burning would kill Jack? That was the 'solution' to the miracle wasn't it? And they said Jack had basically switched places with the rest of the planet.

Then again, maybe the people who got burned weren't 'really' dead either?

  • Dude did u see the children of earth? He got torn to pieces and then they barley regrouped his left over body parts and he healed, he would definitely heal from a fire

  • If he is the man that can never die, then how does he die as the face of boe? lol

  • @nick999283159 anything can happen in billions of years.

  • @nick999283159

The Face of Boe said it himself, "Everything has its time."

So the theory is that Jack isn't really immortal, but just has a very, very, very long life force. Every time Jack dies and regenerates, a small portion of that life force is removed.

  • i bet he just slowly ages and ages an ages and somewhere along the line he just becomes a gigantic head 0_0

  • HERE COMES JACK ON A BLOODY GREAT TRACTOR!

  • lol he ages slowy so in a billions years he will look like the face of boe

  • its OBVIOUS!!!! jack asked the doctor and martha that if he kepps aging what will he look like in a million years, so clearly the face of is him in a million years time all old and withered

  • Here comes Jack on a bloody big tractor!

  • Think about this. He was shot in the heart, right? And if you recall from an earlier clip in that episode, machine guns opened fire on him. Did he show any signs of damage then? Any bullet holes? Even a scrape?

  • His body will reassemble itself eventually. We've seen him come back from some very grisly deaths good as new--the bomb they put inside his abdomen in "Children of Earth," say?

  • Guys. Give the guy a break. He was just showing his opinion. And remember in Doctor Who "The Last of the Timelords", Jack says "The Face of Boe they called me." Coincidence? I don't know. But its something to go off of. Don't criticize someone for just voicing their opinion.

  • Obviously this video was made before Torchwood: Children Of Earth... FAIL!

  • I appreciate your efforts, but your "theory" is very incorrect. Jack survived having been blown up by a bomb- Oil and a match (For him) is a tap on the shoulder!

  • @Seltro1 When was Jack shot through the head? And when did he blow up? I'm sure it would take millions of years for him to mutate. However I have absolutely no clue what the real answer is. They really need to tell us!

  • @TPS4EVZ Wibbly-wobbly, timey-whimey ball...It explains so much, you know. And while I don't remember them coming right out and explaining the how's of it, they have implied more than enough to get the general idea.

  • This is the most ass-backwards theory I've heard in a while... Do some fact-checking in the future.

  • Ok, enough about Boeshane. Jack is from the Delaware/Maryland, Delmarva peninsula, near the Chesapeake Bay mouth in the USA. Here's why ... the accent is mid-Atlantic American & the locations in Torchwood, clearly imply it.

This is where Jack is from, USA 51st century. Boeshane is probably an up to date future municipality since I'm sure that MD, DE & VA will probably merged as one region by then.

  • @kngrtk The 9th Doctor has a 'northern' accent, is he from northern England? No, he's Gallifreyan. An accent, belonging to an ACTOR not the CHARACTER is not really a way to determine where they're from.

  • That theory is nice but not possible. This is because jack's been shot in the head, the hole sealed itself back up, jakc's been blown up from the inside out, his body put it'self back together. Get the picture?

  • He wasn't DEFORMED... he mutated.

The Doctor speculated that instead of aging normally, Jack would mutate in shape. This is how he became the Face of Boe.

I don't normally ask for thumbs up, but this isn't a speculation: this is what the Doctor actually believed. Thumbs up to spread the message.

  • oil... really?! it was never burns or anything. he could never die! never! he just lived on throught time and evolved until he becam the face of boe.

  • The reason he becomes the face of boe is that even though he cannot die, he can still age. So him becoming the face of boe is just what he turns into with his really old age.

  • @inonaruto That is the most logical idea in the internet.

  • Ffs, watch torchwood.

  • and he said he is last of his kind, because he was last of pure human.

    @AmayaChosha: Jack IS human

  • The Face of Boe form i the last form of humanity evolution, if human could live forever, so that's why he looks like he looks, he didn't create anything for himself. Your teory is stupid.

  • he did get pretty ripped up in torchwood, i dont imagine burns would stop it

  • good theory :) i thought that too until the face of boe said he was the last of his kind even though there were still humans in that episode :)

  • @AGBchattery But Jack isn't human. He's a NEAR-human. Maybe his species looks like Boe when they get that old.

  • @AmayaChosha oh ok.. erm, which is the first episode he's in?

  • he continues to age just much slower. face of boe is probably him aged 10000000000000000000000000000000000 years

  • It's obvious you didn't see the last season of Torchwood.

  • torchwood had it made for trying to kill the captian, not to mention failing majorly

  • Jack is the face of Boe, end of story, the writers confirmed it. How it happens is something that no one knows, perhaps not even the writers! Some interesting theories were brought up though. Individuals don't evolve, that's true, then again an individual hasn't lived as long as Jack has! For all we know he made himself like that so he could die. I wouldn't wanna be 5 billion years old to be perfectly honest! The speculation is what keeps the writers happy and the show going, keep it up! :D

  • @DixiKid23

I love ignorance. Why dont you look that up online, again- right now, and you'll find and I quote. "There will never be a confirmation of Jack harkness as the face of boe. Theory or not, stating the fact removes the fun."

They have blocked every literature attempt to officially connect the two. they refuse to do it for a reason. they want you to question it.

  • @AgentXv2 That was a bit sarcastic for my liking, but whatever! :P So I read what I assumed to be an official statement, that turned out to just be someones online speculation, sue me. They pretty much make everyone think it's Jack anyway, whether they've outright said it or not, there's a lot of evidence to suggest it. But hey, each to their own, eh.

  • but in doctor who jack is talking about his past aund were he grew up und they use to call him face of boe

  • I'm sorry..but isn't Jack blown to bits in children of the earth and then re-constructed afterward?

  • But The face of Boe DID die, in Gridlock

  • @kopa225 well yeah rose made him un killable but she didnt know ho to use it aka the living forever thing is on a like 1000 dea

  • @kopa225 yeah. but what i dont get is HOW. he literally CANNOT die. so russel T davies fucked over his own plot twist.

  • @yellowcard1494 Fixed point in time and space. A fact. He has to happen. He has to live. It's a fact. Time MAKES Jack live.

  • @yellowcard1494 there is a theory that the doctor just didn't stay long enough to see him revived, cause the more life force is drained from him, the longer it takes for him to come back to life

  • @kopa225 but the face of boa only gave his life force, like jack at the end of series 1 of torchwood. When boa dies, the doctor didnt stay very long, so he could have come back to life later on :) (sorry for commenting two months later)

  • LOL

  • I see that you made this before Children of earth. Had you made it after, would you see that your theory is completely stupid, because he gets blown up and ripped apart and he rebuilds himself.

  • @ollytennant *Earth

  • @dawgghogg you're wrong. It's natural selection DNA randomly changes in a cell. It thereore won't affect much unless it's in the sex cells where the children will inherit the random change. This lead to difference and subsequently an advantage or disadvantage. From this the animals with the mutation have more chance to survive, meaning more chance to reproduce therefore that type if animal takes over. THIS is the theory of evolution.

  • If you watch the series you will understand. They allude to Jack being the Face of Bo who dies after 5 billion years. Just cause you see Jack later doesnt mean it isnt him. Remember the Doctor and Margaret were far far into the future then at Bo's death. And if you watched afterwards,(i.e. the children of earth) you will see where they gathered the parts of Jack together and he reformed, and was just fine (generally speaking)

  • Yeah, in torchwood Captain jack gets a bomb planted inside him and it detonates, he later still comes back to life

  • well if this is true dose this mean the face of boe is gay?

  • @kingpinoflove Of course not!...He's omnisexual. He likes everything.

  • Well think back to when the Master made the Doctor age to match his true age without the regeneration cycles, 900 years turned him into something that didn't really resemble a typical human or timelord.(also note his large proportioned head) So in that context it makes sense for 5 billion yrs to become something that looks non-human, and also consider hes not subject to normal wear and tear since he resets rather than regenerate, so he wouldn't age the same way as a human, wrinkles and such

  • billions of year of aging kinda does make you turn into a wrinkly odd shaped head trust me i learn from experience..

  • Honestly, that fire drawing, it made me lol so much. xD

    0:45

  • Also, if you remember, David Tennant series, Season 3 (when he brings Martha to New New york, Episode: Rush Hour), the face of boe dies, having used his last bit of energy. So it was kinda moot point for Jack to claim he was called the Face Of Boe..

  • Can I just say in defence of MerlinTorchHoodWho, this video was done BEFORE Children Of Earth was shown. I noticed a few people using that as a reason why this video is pretty much no longer a possible reason so I thought I'd mention it just in case people didn't see when the video was uploaded. =]

  • power of jack living for ever must end too however the doctor knowing this and in order for the timelines to not change captain jack must stay alive and inorder to do that he puts him in that tank thingy or captain jack changes his apperance completley to prevent a time paradox from accuring

  • people who want to find out how captain jack harkness dies ?

well my theory is that the power of everlasting life was given to captain jack by

the tardis which means that captain jack and the tardis have a link now think of it like this when the tardis that captain jack is linked to dies or gets destroyed the -

  • lol he will regenerate ^^

  • about the fire thing... if you watch toruchwood you would know that even if he is ripped into nothing but small pices they will over time just regerate and form his body once again

  • @drakananana Yes he does In the children of earth they blow up torchwood and they grab all the pieces of what is left of Jack then he regerates to his normal form.

  • in torchwood he gets blown up his body rebuilds itself

  • yea

  • dude in Torchwood: Children Of Earth jack is blow in to nothing and still he comes back, what makes you think that oil will make him in to the face of boe!!

  • @jnrcoskun man COE was aired on 2009. this video is 2008...

  • even if he did evolve and only his face remained...why is the face so huge! XD

  • its not that because he said he still ages. which means he'll evolve into the face

  • but what if he lives forver between those two points in time, ie between his birth and death, i mean the doctor himself decribes time as a wiggly ball, and not linear

  • hes skin will comeback if he gets burnt like when their was acid on him

  • not only does he not die, he heals really fast, so he would just come back together after a while, like the robot in the movie the iron giant

  • the explanation is shitty

he IS the face of boe,but he looks like this after 5 BILLION years because he evolves...all humans evolve,he did it in the most obvious way,by not dying,he becomes face of boe because of adapting to the environments. Like I would need a tail, but I need 2000 years to grow one, well,he got plenty of time ;)

  • @dawgghogg111 .... that shows a complete misunderstading of evolution unless you are talking about the theory of adaptivity as opposed to the evolution of a species, kind of agree though, if he heals back to what his DNA describes him as every time he dies, what If he dies and then has his DNA changed?

  • @dawgghogg111 INDIVIDUALS DON'T EVOLVE ... subsequent generations evolve

  • @lhrlyc that`s because they don`t have the luxury of time

  • @dawgghogg111 Even with infinite time, an individual can't evolve. Evolution occurs in a species when an individual of the population is born with a random mutation that coincidentally makes that individual more likely to survive and reproduce. The population evolves because its members compete for survival, and only the "fittest" get the chance to pass on their genes to the next generation. None of this can happen in an individual.

  • eh, I don't think The Face of Boe is Jack XD sorry, but really... doesn't really make much sense to me. even when he was blown up to pieces Jack grew eer arms, legs and absolutely everything else... so I don't get how he would be left with only a head even if he does age slowly...

but this video was funny, haha, so funny! XD loved it. *chuckles*

  • @muciSAD it's because russell t davies is a retard...

  • @alientechsk8r yep, you're right, he's a retard -_- Making Jack face of Boe even when it makes no sense. *sighs*

  • @musicSAD

Your wrong...captain jack is the face of boe, the actor himself confirmed it at a comic-con.

And if you watch the show Torchwood (a spin-off from doctor who which stars captain jack) it tells that it's him (although i haven't watched the episode myself but once again...confirmed at a comic-con)

  • this is bull shit the face of boe died and then captain jack came back and got killed agin in journeys end

  • i think that he aged so much that his body just laid off and he got some surgery thingithingi and they put his head in an jar and he just keep on ageing.

  • no that couldnt happen becauseface ofboe died and jack was still alive watch journeys end and stolen earth and even last of timelords and sound of drums

  • it can cus boe was in the faR future

  • @yamhamdan Year 5 billion.. or million, same difference lol

  • *******TORCHWOOD COE SPOILER******

Well the government planted a bomb in his stomach and detonated it, creating a decent crater in Cardiff, it took him a while longer than usual to come back but he was still as good looking and limb-ful as ever (with the added bonus of NO CLOTHES!) (lol)

  • Explanation- During The-Year-That-Never-Was, The Master, during one of his torture methods, be-headed Jack, and placed it in a jar, the head could've lived without the body...

    Just a thought.

  • captain jack is a fixed point meaning he can die just not permanent in like u say he was blown up in torchwood yes he would of died and had to re-build himself but he still died and just came back to life

  • ok if u have seen torchwood Children of Earth u have made a mistake! becuz: un it they blow him up!!! and he re builds himself so ha!!

  • yea , but is funny ^_^ , one he is no flash man , after 1 day full flash XD

  • Russell T Davies, in the episode's commentary, called the implication of this scene "a theory."

Also, I heard some where that The Face of Boe had like six kids or something, each living only to 40, the average life-span of the species. Whether that was either true or canon, I don't know.

  • yeah, in the DW ep The Long Game, it's on the news that "the Face of Boe is pregnant again."

  • but river song said everybody knows that everbody dies, AND KNOW ONE KNOWS THAT MORE THAN THE DOCTOR, and time is the biggest killer, you will die eventually and plus rose will die one day so tht might affect it or that He is so weak or has used up all his life force. And if he was burnt then he would heal but remember...if there were more parts then just thos in children of the earth then wouldn't there be more then on captain jack?

  • his body heals up the wound like it was never there so he is immortal

  • to be fair, this was posted a good 8 months before jack got blown up. how would he know? chill out, its only a video dude.

  • you idiot this is stupid and you made no sence, jack harkness was blown up when the core of torchwood was taken out by a bomb that was insurted into his belly, and still came out looking good as new. So wtf do you think oil and fire will do....

  • Erm, this was done waaaayyy before Torchwood: Children of Earth, so there is no way this person knew about him nlowing up.

  • Jack cannot be the Face of Boe. The Face of Boe got his name by being "The Face of the Boeshan Peninsula." Jack says people called him "The Face of Boe." The Face of Boe is a future celebrity...known since the "Dawn of time." It's possible Jack becomes the Face of Boe, teleports back to the dawn of life ....and becomes famous...then gets a nickname he became himself later on..I can totally see that. ....Jack was nicknamed The Face of Boe...meaning he was nicknamed off a celebrity

  • either it doesnt burn his skin at all or he loses his skin and it grows back he is a fact. BIG BOOK OF FACTS.

    1. CAPTAIN JACK

    lol

  • it buuuuuuuuuurns

  • His body will recreate itself. It did in Children of the Earth.

  • it was on this torchwood thing the hq got blown up an he was inside so all his body parts were blown to pieces but then they were all put together and his body grew back so i ges he really can never die- unlucky...

  • I think its safe to assume the whole Jack Harkness/Face of Boe is something that shouldnt have happened. It was bad writing. RTD just had a whim and thoght 'this would be cool' without thinking it through properly. There are actually episodes (utopia) where they mention the name 'face of boe' in front of Jack and he has no reaction... Bad planning and editing on the part of RTD... The other Producers hated the whole idea its one reason RTD was forced to leave the show.

  • he wasnt forced to leave, he just thought he brought the show as far as he could

  • He wasn't forced to leave he chose too, but also it wasn't confirmed he was the Face of Boe... just strongly implied *cough*

  • well maybe it was one of those things where you can say someones nickname and they dont understand it..

i have been called skyscraper but every time someone mentions somthing about skyscrapers i dont turn around and say "yes?"

  • also maybe it is a "title" instead of a nickname

  • Why *would* Jack react to the name 'face of Boe'? He's got no reason to recognize it. Not if someone mentioned 'Captain Jack' in front of *Boe* and *Boe* reacts, that would actually mean something.

  • Haha i bet russel t davies saw this video, and went right that's it in Torchwood Children of Earth , we are blowing Captain jack, into smithereeens

  • He looks better as the Face Of Boe.

  • lol x

  • well the oil thing is explained in torchwood children of earth when Jakc is caught in the explosion and his skelton gorws then his muscels then his skin. He is reborn sort of!

  • even before children of earth this is a bit weak as theories go ,,,

  • he Evolves into the face of boe thats what its called

  • But in children of earth they put a bomb inside jack and he blew up himself up however his body grew back...

  • His body ages slowly, but he can't die. So the aging beomes a bloody mutation and it decomposes his body and makes him a gigantic head. Also, when I first saw the Face of Boe I thought "A Message From the Big Giant Head." Just saying.

  • jjgiblit is right. all that was left was an arm and tiny bits of fresh. It took a while but he did regenerate into himself again. Also he says he found a grey hair in children of earth pointing to he can age. In the episode where the master takes over earth, he ages the docter to the paoint that he cannot regenerate. he ended up looking a lot like some sort of goblin. so say this happens to jack, and after millions of years of bone decay and muscle deteriration, thats what he would look like.

  • wrong on torchwood hes bown up and his body re grows

  • That was a good theory, especailly as you thought it up before CoE so you wouldn't know he would recover in the same body. That gridlock episode is that little bit more sad now you know its jack.

  • yeah, I always wanted him to be YOUNG(-looking) forever.

but one question, I really don't get how aging, though billions of years, I'm sure, must make an impact on your body, can reduce your other body parts to nothing and convert you into a big fat face.

  • lol that was funni and you cant say bout the bomb in CoE cuz this was made 29 October 2008 so :P lols

  • That question is explained in Torchwood Children of Earth when he is blown up.

    Torchwod rules!

  • technically they did set him on fire in the latest 5part series lol but this video was probably made before then so it balances out lol :D

  • Yeah But Captain Jack Cant Die And The Face Of Bo Does Die In The Sound Of Drums Episode I Think

  • its the Motorway ep he dies in i cant remember the name tho lol

  • Gridlock!

    3rd epiosde of series 3!

    lol

Ask me anything bout dr who series 2-4

and I bet you I'll get it right lol

  • Join the Club lol i just forgot that one hehe

  • add series one from dr. who and me too!

  • What is the ood's disease called ?

  • red eye

  • He 'dies' in Gridlock.

  • ye but after a few thousand years but he couldnt of carried on forever because if he did there wud be no time around him

  • so maybe... because he's a fixed point in time, when time does eventually cease to exist, maybe so does he...?

  • Nah he dies i Gridlock.

  • bad theory

in torchwood he was blown up into pieces and recovered the same body

  • He had a bomb put inside of him and it exploded. He reformed from just a shoulder and the remains of a head. His spirit somehow went into a boe body.

  • ahh no he didnt go into a boe body he said in dr who season 3 ep 13 that he keeps getting older. over his 5,000,000,000 years he turns into the face of boe

  • thts wrong he had a bomb inside him nd he came bk wit his whole body if he was burned to death he would reatach his body bit by bit

  • he couldn't die because the tardis energy made him a fixed point in time. but obviously he became wiser as the face of boe and realised how to release the energy in Gridlock season 3.

  • yeah, it's probably through age that he changes seeing as he regenerated back to normal after he was blown to pieces in torchwood.

  • lol ye i just said tht mind u hehe

  • Thing is he was blown up in one of the last torchwood episodes and his body just grew back from a head an arm and something else that i can't remember!

  • YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO boes BODY????

  • If you put oil on him and put him on fire it would be like on torchwood children of the earth he wuld repair himself

  • jack only became immortal due to the fact rose in season harnessed the heart of the tardis. and zapped jack with it.

  • in the new one he gets blown apart by a bomb in his cest and thown into a bady bag.the body bag moves inside in now a sceleton.he wakes up as a zombie.then normal jack.then he gets encarserated in cement and thrown of a clif and he wakes up so dont think fire would kill him

  • after the face of boe dies he might come back alive?

  • who knows. He's a fixed pt in time. sooo until time is no more .....

  • lol if he gets ripped apart he will still be able to get back shown in trchwood children of earth day 2. :P

  • omg isnt it obvious how he becomes the face of boe? The face of boe exists billions of years in the future so think about it u no how old people r all shriveled up wen theyre about 80 well in the last episode of series 3 jack says that he finds the odd grey hair evry now & again well even though he ages much slower than humans he still ages so imagine wat would happen after biilion of years wouldnt u think hed look a bit wierd maybe like a giant face?!

  • Not a personal attack at you MerlinTorchHoodWho but I hate it when people use the default text screen on WMM. I mean come on it only takes 10 seconds to change the background colour.

  • what're the things dangling begind Boe's head?.....he has octi-balls. many testicles coming out of the back of a giant head.

  • but then again i think it could be jack because on the episode of dr who the long game it says the face of boe was pregnant and on the episode of torchwood everything changes while lookin over the first body jack says bout contraceptives in the rain then he talks about getting pregnant then says ill never do that again

  • russell.t.davies just said that they put that reference in to boggle people but it could be him but one problem is jack is human his whole species is human and boe looks like an alien i think boe coud be gray

  • k jack IS the face of boe he CAN die he ages 5 milloin year and turns into face o boe he die's in the furture but jack lives and saves the doctor

  • Meaning he can only die in natural ways not by weapons or anything?

    Wow this is quite confusing
