Could you leak the strat you used for the Spaceship fight at the end? That's my main problem you see, everytime I fight those ships, I can't get a lock on them.
Thanks for helping me with my run :P. I'm going to try to find some timesavers before I make it though.
The DOS version has more glitches. There's a way of winning the robot fight faster, but I can't remember it... I'll find it in due time though :P
Not too much in terms of strat. In the description in part 1, I mention that the run is pieced together from a bunch of different clips. The way I made the video was pretty simple... I saved often and loaded whenever I felt that I could redo a part quicker. I recorded everything and then just spliced together all the pieces. Thats why the menu bar appears at 4:08 The bar is normally hidden until you press Esc (which I did to save/load between fights).
I'm not sure if I'd call it a glitch or not, maybe just some poor AI. There are a few different ways that you can trick the AI into thinking that it can hit you, but it'll constantly miss. Its just based on your position relative to the other robot. This fight can be difficult if you approach it head on, so I'm glad the AI isn't smarter :P
I remember a glitch in the robot fight, where you would speed the game up x7, and mash the punch button. I might make a speed run on this game too and try to beat your time (which won't be easy!)
I was using Camtasia to record while running the game in DOSBox.
Also, if you do make a speedrun (awesome!) there is at least one part where you could save a fair bit of time. At 1:18 in my vid where I walk into Elmo Pug's office, instead of walking all the way around his cubicle, I think you can just immediately exit the screen (go back down) and come back and he'll be gone.
Alright, I'll start playing around with camtasia, to see if I can get it to work. I've always had trouble recording sound directly from my computer, but I'll try again.
Thanks for the advice, I'll be trying some stuff here and there to see if I can save time. I havn't played this game for quiet some time. Also, I'll have to practise killing Arnoid using the Orat strategy. I'm used to pushing the pully in Fester's attic :P
Recording sound from my comp has become a problem too. One or two years ago, the "Record What U Hear" or "Stereo Mix" disappeared from the audio options. I looked into it and I'm pretty sure the recording industry forced audio drivers to stop supporting those options because of DRM issues or some BS. So I rolled back my audio driver to one that came out in 2006 and it worked, but it ended up being a lot more trouble that it was worth.
Alright. I suppose sound isn't a must, and my computer is fairly new. There is little point in having sound work, since there isn't much to listen to in space quest.
After trying some stuff out, I realize how hard it is to make a run like this. You have to walk perfectly, especially in the hallways in Scumsoft... That's a real pain. Also Zapping the trash isn't too easy.
Your other idea in your other comment is a good idea. Record different segments, and edit them... Thanks!

Nice run man
How did you glitch the robot fight? Or didn't you?

May I ask what you use for recording? Fraps?
Again, amazing run :P

Good luck with your speedrun!
