Putting lights on a Christmas tree is not a rocket science.

1. Sometimes I go up and down. starting at the tippy top wrap the wire around that tip or if you have an tree topper that'll cover it wrap it lower. Start tucking the lights in the tree going up and down in zig zags following the branch patterns. Other times I go around n round going around laying them on the branches like frosting a wedding cake.

The large or fancy lights can be spaced like ornaments if you want it in a spot just wrap

I will gracefully refuse to decorate my tree so elegantly... I will place twinkling lights upon my tree that is full of home made ornaments and a collection of ornaments that I have gathered from family friends as gifts... little children's colorful paper ornaments with kindergarten smiles... being a snob really looks lame...

We all have different idea of elegant. I have a local year round christmas shop and I think thier dozens of differently decorated trees are all elegant.... why? because they all have a theme. Even an AZ theme with barrel cacti and such.

I get what she's saying since an all white/gold theme christmas tree is Elegant but I think she could have have explained it a bit better. Oh well.

But I think it's a decent tutorial for someone who's never decorated before. It's standard tree decore.

I do not understand how that tells you how to put lights on a tree? All you did was say Elegant about 50 times and say you should of put more lights on???? That tree looked rather plain to me.

That's fine, but you're posting on "expertvillage" - so just let people know these are your opinions and not expertise.

You can't add lights AFTER the ornaments are on! It's obvious you are NOT an expert or professional designer - otherwise you'd know the rule of thumb. For small lights, figure 100 per foot. A 7.5 ft tree will look great with 700 to 800 lights. You can add MORE but never LESS. Oh - and do it BEFORE you start the camera.
