Your processor is a bottleneck for the HD6850, you should overclock it atleast at 3.6Ghz.When you overclock it then you will see the real difference between these two cards.
I have AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE @4.1Ghz (watercooled) and i had HD5770 OC before, now i have HD6850 and the difference is much bigger than the difference in this video.
Overclock your CPU and you will have much better FPS, thrust me. ;)
Would 700MHz to 800Mhz Core Clock be a bigger difference than 400 to 800 Stream Cores? In other words what im saying is would a graphics card with 700MHz Core clock and 800 Stream Cores be faster than a 800Mhz Core Clock with 400 Stream Cores? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@EphinEcko 800 Stream processors vs 400 Stream processors is by far the biggest difference. Without oversimplifying too much, the 800 Stream processor card can be up to 2x faster (+100% difference) than the 400 Stream processor card. A 700 to 800MHz jump isn't too big a deal (+15% difference). These both relate to the GPU core. The other factor for video card performance is GPU memory bandwidth (memory frequency x bus bit width).
@PaulmanC Understood, that was very helpful and straight to the point, thank you very much. I'm in the process of purchasing the Radeon HD 6770, thats why i asked the difference between Stream processors and Core frequency. The 6770 has everything im looking for with 800+MHz, 800 Stream Cores, 1GB of DDR5, and it's very well priced, at 79.99 after mail in rebate at Newegg. Sadly my Athlon 64x2 5000+ will hold it back, but i will be upgrading in the near future.
i had ati 6850 gigabyte and i always compared my fps in games with other gpu´s reviews and comparison videos in youtube suck monkey ass they are never accurate. if you wanna hear from someone who owned 5770 and currently owns 6850 then listen carefully. 6850 brutaly shits bricks on 5770. on assassins creed brotherhood without fraps i got minimum 54 fps maximum 120 fps and average 60 fps with 6850 i3 8gb ram on 1680x1050 resolution max settings and max anti aliasing 25-33 fps with 5770...
@Adredinna do u recommend the 6850? and is it flashable to 6870? and how much is it? will it last 5 years if i run it on the lowest settings on future games?
@Jer0meLey i do recommend 6850 i dont know what you mean with flashable.. look here is the thing i payed 1500 kr for my 6850 hd in 2010 december. 1500 kr is about 200 $ and im very happy about my card, its been 2 years now and i have played all the games on max settings 1680x1050 resolution anti aliasing off between 50-60 fps on all games i do recommend 6850 but u will need a descent processor to keep up. i have intel core i3 2100 8gb it cost me 680 $ total to build up my pc

PS: If you dont know why its such a retarded comment its cos he obviously couldnt choose the 7 series 14months before its release. So your comment is therefore...retarded.
im thinking of buying the hd 6850 end of this month just want to know is it worth it? i dont have a core i5 cpu or core i7 I have the core2quad q9450 and want to run it with the hd6850
I have phenom II 955 and HD4890 and i run all game at 1920x1080 max at 60fps (95% of games). HD 6850 is 30% faster probably so it would be perfect match for you Q9450 to play games ;).
@jawbreak1r Because the new FX series are not as optimized for windows 7 just yet. Microsoft is working on a patch that will hopefully fix this issue, you can also look forward to this because when it is released you should see an immense performance increase :)
Is stupid to test CPU speed with a windows test, that is optimized for Intel CPU.
Use sandra sisoft to compare CPU, but inside game the only important thing is to aboid bottleneck in you GPU, so having a 8 cores CPU at 7Ghz (hipotetic speaking) with a HD 6850 won´t be much of a difference in fps since the GPU limit the performance inside games..

@creamie123 Not really anymore - the lowest price for the MSI Cyclone 6850 is ~ 160, while the lowest price for another brand of 6850 is ~130, not to mention you can find 6870s for as low as ~140.

@lazarsmiljanic1996 I'm not sure about Visiontek, but based on just its appearance alone, it's fan is smaller, and it resembles the Turbo IceQ, which runs hotter than MSI. Appearances can be deceiving though. Overclocking performance-wise, I am not sure.
I have to say im confused by the high settings result. The 5770 gets 29.8fps but my 6670 gets 25fps. I thought that the 5770/6770 was a good step up in performance but maybe not......This is an i5 sandy CPU though I can't see it making THAT much of a difference.
@KannonballKiller its just because the 5770 is indeed a faster card then the 6670. the 6770 has identical specs to the 5770 except more monitor supports. Its kinda like how the 5870 is faster than the 6870. I dont know why they do shit like that
@PsiloCybinDreamX Yea I understand the card market and your right it is confusing, the 5770 is identical to the 6770 but my 6670 is different, it should be slower. I just ran a benchmark everything very high except shaders, shadows, particles and volumetric. So it's a harder test than the high 5770 on this vid and I got 28.97 fps thats 1fps less. The 5770 should be a deal faster than the 6670 so it goes to show how well Intel have done with the i5's this generation.
so when gpu limits take effect instead of cpu limitation, the 6850 is twice as fast as the 5770 in this game. wow. awesome comparison, thanks a ton. you would benefit greatly from an i5 2500k in this game in particular, which loves high-clocks and fast speed per-clock.
@409346 Hey man you would help me big time if you could tell me how much actual RAM usage you have during gaming (usage in task manager).plz lemme know
@TheWrtos Get an i5 2500k instead of the i7. It's considerably cheaper and performs identically in almost everything besides video encoding. Gives you more money left over to spend on a more powerful graphics card.
@TheWrtos if your getting an i7 2600k than a 6850 might be slightly bottlenecking i would suggest if you really want the i7 and you can afford to.......get atleast a 6870
I did some videos on comparisons of 5850 vs 4850x2 and then an updated crysis one with the phenom II 955 at 3.2 ghz. Pretty clearly shows that once you upgrade your processor on this game you will get many more fps. I only used a Radeon 5850 and did the very high spec maxed all setting at 1080p and got 47fps. Something to think about.
I have a 5770 card and plan on crossfiring with another 5770 card, how would that do against a 6850? Not that I am trying to "beat" that card I just wanna no if it would be a good choice as far as going that route apposed to purchasing another series card. Thanks.
@adamdeangelo I'm pretty sure 5770s CF would perform better. However, you have all the driver and compatibility problems of crossfire, and higher power consumption. Also, if the second PCI-E slot on your motherboard is in X4 mode like mine, the performance will be impacted, though I'm not sure how much.
@SpyGuysX YOU ARE RETARDED INDEED YOU DONT EVEN OWN IT
I SPEAK BECAUSE I OWN IT YOU ARE STUPID INDEED GET ONE OF THESE PAIR IT WITH AN X6 OR I7 GET THE LATEST DRIVERS FOR THIS CARD AND SEE FOR YOURSELF THE RESULTS YOU WILL SEE HIGHER FPS 30% + BECAUSE THIS GUY IS USING OLDER DRIVERS ALL THE WAY AND OBLIVERATE I USE AMD Phenom II X6 1090T AND I7 Intel Core i7 975 different computers with same card i run a bussines so i don't play games on them. USE IT ON PERFORMANT CONFIG. SEE RESULTS
FAKE FAKE FAKE HOW IS THAT I HAVE AN PHENOM 2 AND 5770 AND MY WEI FOR GRAPHIC CARD IS 7.4 WHY YOURS IS FROM FAR LOWER WHERE IS THAT HUGE DIFFERENCE ?????
@Obliverate15 I USE AMD Phenom II X6 1090T AND I7 Intel Core i7 975 different computers with same card i run a bussines so i don't play games on them JUST TESTED THEM USE IT ON PERFORMANT CONFIGURATION AND SEE RESULTS USE LATEST DRIVERS THERE IS A HUGE GAP BETWEEN DRIVERS TRY IT ..................
@marianxtreme You need to remember that there are different clock speeds too. Plus, maybe his mobo sucks and can't handle high clock speeds and the processor was turned down.
I have a saphire 5770 vapor x at 1g, phenom amdx3, 4gb corsair dominator with a 800w pixxo psu, by reading the comments it seems that 6850 it's better than a 5770, if i bought another 5770 to CF, will it get any closer to the 6850 performance, can you help with this decition? what should i do, a single 6850 instead of 5770, or a 5770 CF instead of a single 6850? nice vid by the way. :)
@Panda4Cash they are completely the same in performance, it's just that some brands give you some extra shit with your card like cables or whatever, but it's the same card and same performance
it doesn't matter which one you take, take the cheaper brand.
ok don't get mad idk a lot about graphics cards but will this Graphics card in the vid run GTA IV at maxed out settings and 0% of lag please help i'm going to build my first gaming pc and the first game i wanna play in Real HD max is GTA IV
I am verry skeptical of these numbers... I believe his processor is bottlenecking but I cant say how bad....I own a HD 6850 (7.7) and athlonx4 3ghz (7.3). My 6850 runs at about 66% usage using ATI Tool which lets me know my athlon is bottlenecking. Then I include the 10-15% gain that im missing out on by overclocking the video and that brings it to about 50% usage. I'm investing in a Phenomx4 @ 3.5 ghz to unlock the HD 6850 potential soon.
@slideguitar777 well i mean i have 250$ to spend. and im either getting a 5770 with athlon x4 640 or a 6870 with my stock cpu (athlon x2 220) and the same thing can be said with the gpu that i can get a good gpu and upgrade cpu later. so i was just curious as to how good the 5770 actually is.
@randomness711 a radeon 5770 with athlon x4 640 processor would be better still and its a good thing ur gettin rid of that 5450. im not an expert though so dont risk 200+ bucks from a comment on youtube
if your watching this get the 6850 turbo x one buy his iceq cooleerand uses 1 six pin so its good for less power i has a 4870 and it was thrsty for energy
if your watching this get the 6580 turbo x one buy his iceq cooleerand uses 1 six pin so its good for less power i has a 4870 and it was thrsty for energy
@TheEliteCrash nah just kidding m8 youll probably run on highest settings 30-40 fps but if you really want to get over 100FPS i'd recommend you buy another HD 6850
6850 ×2 = better than a GTX580 and still 200 €/$ cheaper than a GTX580
@ninosM1 AH thanks m8, i already bought the pc, becuz i reached my budget :P im glad i can play it anyway :P untill now i always had to play games on minimal setting XD
Was looking to upgrade to the 6850 from a 4850 but now ive seen this video i dont know if i should bother. Yes the card looks great and is a lot faster than the 5770 (never mind my 4850), but if im not running games any higher than 1280x768 to 1360x768 and the speed difference shows, at higher resolutions. Does anyone else think there would be much point in upgrading?
@4RedDwarf3 for such a cheap card, yes. also remember that frapps can kill fps dramatically, i've experienced slowdown of around 20 fps in some cases, so remember that 29fps he was getting on Very High in this video will be around 50-60 when you actually play.
Even with so much advantage in frames per second benchmarking, PowerColor 6850 is very coold GPU.At this moment, my PowerColor 6850 is just 56 degrees Celsius and it sometimes gets even cooler down to 44 degrees.I am not using any extra coolers.Highly recomend!
@AosaBid OK, thanks. One more question: Do you think I would need to upgrade my RAM since my gameplay is really choppy and freezes when tons of enemies are near?
Because I'm planning to get a new computer based on a AMD Phenom 2 965 3.4Ghz 64Bit Quad Core AM2+/AM3 Black Edition Tray proccesor and crossfire 6850s and get 4gb ram[later I will upgrade to 8gb]
@AosaBid most games render slower fps in crossfire without at least 8gb of ram, i have a ASUS CROSSHAIR IV FORMULA 890FX, Phenom II x6 1090t and 5770 crossfire and I had to upgrade RAM.
my 5770 is 7.4

If you guys want to buy the 6850, get the MSI Cyclone Power Edition OC. It has the following:
1) Best cooling of all brands: lowest temperatures (by 14 degrees!), and noise levels (except Powercolor passive cooling).
2) Best performance as well: 10% faster due to default overclock.
3) Best durability and maybe life-span due to Military Class II components.
and possibly:
4) Best bang for buck of all 6850 brands.

@creamie123 Thanks for the advice, I think I'll buy that edition now. Is it power efficient?
FlourescentPotato 1 month ago
@FlourescentPotato I'm not sure what you mean by 'power-efficient'.
1) Relative to a GTX 550 Ti, which consumes the same power (~110W), it offers 30% more performance.
2) Relative to a GTX 560 non-Ti, it consumes 15% less power for the same performance.
3) Relative to an old 8800GTX, it consumes 20% less power but is 200% as fast.
4) According to an official chart, in terms of FPS to Power ratio, it is 3rd place only to the 5450 (1st) and the 5670 (2nd).
So yes, it is power-efficient!

lazarsmiljanic1996 1 month ago
@lazarsmiljanic1996 I'm not sure about Visiontek, but based on just its appearance alone, it's fan is smaller, and it resembles the Turbo IceQ, which runs hotter than MSI. Appearances can be deceiving though. Overclocking performance-wise, I am not sure.

@fanicafanica 6770 is faster by 1-2fps
sameq1337 2 months ago
@fanicafanica is the same card and chip so is the same shit and the performance it's equal
Viperzep 2 months ago
I have to say im confused by the high settings result. The 5770 gets 29.8fps but my 6670 gets 25fps. I thought that the 5770/6770 was a good step up in performance but maybe not......This is an i5 sandy CPU though I can't see it making THAT much of a difference.
KannonballKiller 3 months ago
@KannonballKiller its just because the 5770 is indeed a faster card then the 6670. the 6770 has identical specs to the 5770 except more monitor supports. Its kinda like how the 5870 is faster than the 6870. I dont know why they do shit like that
PsiloCybinDreamX 2 months ago
@PsiloCybinDreamX Yea I understand the card market and your right it is confusing, the 5770 is identical to the 6770 but my 6670 is different, it should be slower. I just ran a benchmark everything very high except shaders, shadows, particles and volumetric. So it's a harder test than the high 5770 on this vid and I got 28.97 fps thats 1fps less. The 5770 should be a deal faster than the 6670 so it goes to show how well Intel have done with the i5's this generation.
KannonballKiller 2 months ago
@KannonballKiller yeah u would see a difference from the 6670 to the 5770 like you see the difference between the 5770 and the 5870
PsiloCybinDreamX 2 months ago
so when gpu limits take effect instead of cpu limitation, the 6850 is twice as fast as the 5770 in this game. wow. awesome comparison, thanks a ton. you would benefit greatly from an i5 2500k in this game in particular, which loves high-clocks and fast speed per-clock.

@TheWrtos Get an i5 2500k instead of the i7. It's considerably cheaper and performs identically in almost everything besides video encoding. Gives you more money left over to spend on a more powerful graphics card.
FifteeeCal 3 months ago

Thanks.
adamdeangelo 3 months ago
@adamdeangelo I'm pretty sure 5770s CF would perform better. However, you have all the driver and compatibility problems of crossfire, and higher power consumption. Also, if the second PCI-E slot on your motherboard is in X4 mode like mine, the performance will be impacted, though I'm not sure how much.

at low spec setting, can your eyes see the difference between 86 & 93 fps ??? :-w
duynhp 4 months ago
I am verry skeptical of these numbers... I believe his processor is bottlenecking but I cant say how bad....I own a HD 6850 (7.7) and athlonx4 3ghz (7.3). My 6850 runs at about 66% usage using ATI Tool which lets me know my athlon is bottlenecking. Then I include the 10-15% gain that im missing out on by overclocking the video and that brings it to about 50% usage. I'm investing in a Phenomx4 @ 3.5 ghz to unlock the HD 6850 potential soon.
aaron9780 4 months ago

@randomness711 id go with the best processor you can get, because later on you can get a better graphics card
slideguitar777 5 months ago
@slideguitar777 well i mean i have 250$ to spend. and im either getting a 5770 with athlon x4 640 or a 6870 with my stock cpu (athlon x2 220) and the same thing can be said with the gpu that i can get a good gpu and upgrade cpu later. so i was just curious as to how good the 5770 actually is.
randomness711 5 months ago
@slideguitar777 also bear in mind that the card im using right now is a 5450 so yeah
randomness711 5 months ago
@randomness711 a radeon 5770 with athlon x4 640 processor would be better still and its a good thing ur gettin rid of that 5450. im not an expert though so dont risk 200+ bucks from a comment on youtube

4RedDwarf3 5 months ago
@4RedDwarf3 for such a cheap card, yes. also remember that frapps can kill fps dramatically, i've experienced slowdown of around 20 fps in some cases, so remember that 29fps he was getting on Very High in this video will be around 50-60 when you actually play.
houldendub 5 months ago

@hoopblaze Yeah.Most new MMO's now require 1gb ram or more...Get it to atleast 4gb.
AosaBid 5 months ago
Crossfire 6850's are double the FPS?
Because I'm planning to get a new computer based on a AMD Phenom 2 965 3.4Ghz 64Bit Quad Core AM2+/AM3 Black Edition Tray proccesor and crossfire 6850s and get 4gb ram[later I will upgrade to 8gb]
AosaBid 5 months ago
@AosaBid Just buy 1 6950 then, when this can't handle the games anymore, upgrade to a CF 6950 or buy a newer card.
13Sakke13 5 months ago
@AosaBid most games render slower fps in crossfire without at least 8gb of ram, i have a ASUS CROSSHAIR IV FORMULA 890FX, Phenom II x6 1090t and 5770 crossfire and I had to upgrade RAM.
