You are about to graduate. You have done this song and dance nearly your entire life, but wait! There is one final fight before you are done. However, with this chapter about to close, neither side has their hearts or minds in it. They know something new is coming.

Glad to be finished, sad that it's all over.

@DrunkenBlur Ironically enough, I went looking this up to bring back memories. It is my senior year in high school now, and I've been feeling strange about it. Junior year was amazing, everything was so simple and I knew I didn't have to graduate yet. It was the high point in my life until my dad decided to become suicidal, and all my friends turned to drugs. Since then, something in me hasn't been the same... I'm slowly rebuilding myself, and my memories.

I think Mega Man 6 was the third best game out of 1 through 6 for the NES, and an excellent stand-alone game. (I'm not too fond of Mega Man 1, but I can't really fault it since they were probably feeling out their style on their first game).

I'd argue this is possbly the BEST installation of the original 6. If I had to say which MM games sucked out of them, it would be 4 and 5, anything but six!

this song is all about mystique and intimidation and perhaps even respect. This applies to both Mega and Wily though. Both sides seem to know this is it for a while and how much there is on the line so both of them are tense and anxious. Neither wants to be the first one to make a mistake and both are careful and are trying to execute every maneuver perfectly. Think Ali-Frazier III.

I remember as a kid taking extra time to kill him on purpose so I could hear the music longer (He was so easy in MM6 I could do him without having to worry about dying).

Of course back then you couldn't really go on the internet and easily listen to tracks like you can now.

They aren't sequential "a game for each year". And Mega Man X doesn't appear until 21XX, a hundred years after Mega Man.

We have no idea what happened to Mega Man or when; if he was defeated or what.

It does. I really thought this was gonna be the final showdown. After hearing 0:10-0:28 I thought "This is it!" I wonder if they intended to end it at 6, what with the theme song and Wily being in jail and all.

I think they probably did have that intention or at least idea to bring closure to it...the NES was fading out with the 16 bit era already reigning when they released this game...then they decided to continue it to the SNES and threw in the plotline that robots were programmed to bust him out after not hearing from him for a certain period of time. And Mega Man 9 was just released...and the saga continues. :-)
