This structure based on the changes of all the things you are is a masterful vision that takes years to conceive. If you know the changes to "All the things you are" thoroughly you will understand this presentation. It took me 15 years to figure this out, how about you? This is not rambling nonsense. This is controlled , structured, precise freedom with control. I asked Mingus about this when I met him in Bosnia in 1975 in a hotel lobby. I told him I thought he orchestrated a jazz quartet.
Spotify? NOOO! This kind of music should be on scratchy vinyls in covers reeking with the smell of pipe tobacco. Or as John Peel said about CD`S "It not life, cause life itself has surface noise"
@petopalaj There's also a re-issue CD with another session from the same day - other Mingus alumni added to this band. I think it was called The Complete Mingus Candid Sessions - something like that.
LP is 'Chaeles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus'. Recorded NYC 1960. Orig. on Candid Label. Fantasy should have this on CD. Mingus, Eric Dolphy, Ted Curson and Dannie Richmond.
I listen to Kraftwerk, Kraut and This. For the whole spectrum so to speak :)

Great stuff - Eric Dolphy and the rhythm section burn the oxide off the tape here!
