Yes, it seems Annette's voice is a lot more suited to performing a song rather than singing it. If she just sings it's competent - if a tad underwhelming - but when she adopts a character with her voice it feels like she's really having fun, as well as sparking off the listeners' imaginations.

I approve of this move. :3

I don't like this song, When I heard Anette singing and after listening to the circus, i thought it was a joke...what happened to nightwish :/ Compare this song to Elvenpath or She is my sin or even Amaranth...it's too different from what they are or used to be... @metaleroo4ever it's not anything about tarja. tuomas didn't want to go through same things over and over again just to make the same kind of music, so he tries different styles. their change started with once and if you check its bonus tracks, neither tarja -her voice- or tuomas had much the same with their past. anette has a good potential for power metal..bruce dickinson style :P..on song of myself, sahara..

so for the bands sake...let's just not connnect it to a singer

I think my issue with this cd is that I hate circus music.. they do a very good job of connecting the circus theme to the different songs... but I hate the beat and structure of the circus moments... if they left the whole middle section out of this song, it would've been much better imo

Omg... this is the definition of perfect musicianship. It's outstanding how Nightwish blends a legendary orchestra with raw metal riffs and make such an elegant and gorgeous sound. You can't find a band that does it so well. That beginning with the power metal riff and the orchestra with the choir backing it.... pure beauty.

I thought this too but after watching something about the history of nursery rhymes apparently it's not about this, as the plague didn't give people sneezes and the ring of roses is guessed to be a reference to a ring of red on the skin, which the plague also didn't give people. Just another urban myth as this rhyme is also found to be from before the plague occurred.
