Getting Schenn and Simmonds for Richards turned out to be a great move and really sets the flyers up for a great future but regardless this play was simply amazing, still get goosebumps.

Richie has 22 points (13 goals, 9 assists) for one of the lowest scoring teams in the NHL. Simmonds and Schenn have 16 points combined. Who plays two-way hockey on the Flyers like Richie? Nobody. We lost that trade big time. Tell me how Simmer and Schenn are even close to equal value?

Thanks Richie for an incredible run. That playoff run is one of my all time hockey highlights, and I was at the Rangers game where they won the so to get it and the boston series. This was an incredible team.

@ewilliams9 Schenn isn't Richie 2.0, but he will be. Simmonds is a great Philly-type player. Voracek is a great replacement for Leino. JVR will have a breaout season soon. I'm not complaining.

Did anyone notice that that was during a Penalty Kill?! Epicness. Flyers are despised all over the league for their brand of hockey, big checks and finishes as well as intimidation. As a diehard Philadelphia sports fan/ Flyers fan, I can say that this shift and the goal that ensued was the most incredible thing I ever witnessed. When he's trying, giving it his all, he's the most balanced player in the NHL, can score, hit, anything you need. He's also a good defensive forward. His depth is incredible, and his ability to hit at his size is amazing. I hope to see more of that this year, just like in 09-10.
I feel like it's important we do well this year coming up.

This was when I liked Richards. We robbed LA blind by getting Schenn for Richards, especially with how he was out drinking all the time with Carter and wasn't getting along with Laviolette. By far my favorite Richards moment though

Did anyone notice that that was during a Penalty Kill?! Epicness. Flyers are despised all over the league for their brand of hockey, big checks and finishes as well as intimidation. But damn, watching this shift makes you appreciate the way they play all season. Only the flyers will risk pushing you around during a PK and make you pay

Prongers injury were worse than Richards, Pronger has been a captain of the Blues, when he was traded to Edmonton they made it to the cup finals, when he was traded to Anaheim he helped lead them to win a cup and was captain of the ducks, helped the flyers to the finals with them, Norris trophy winner, Hart Trophy winner, helped Canada win the gold twice.
He's a veteran and a future HOF, how is he not a good choice...??

@77HeIix I never said any of that dip shit. I agree with you completely, Pronger is a hall of fame Defenseman and without a doubt a good Choice for Captain. Do i think he deserves it more than Richards? No i dont. Richards works harder then everyone on the team besides maybe Giroux. You were talking about leading by example in your first post not history, Pronger did not lead by example considering he was out half the season.

As a diehard Philadelphia sports fan/ Flyers fan, I can say that this shift and the goal that ensued was the most incredible thing I ever witnessed. Everyone right now is questioning Richards and his ability to be a Captain, but this is what happens when he is at his best. He is a game changer. Oh btw, anyone know the music?

@PhillyFanatic87 I would like to see Pronger wear our C personally, I didn't see any effort especially at the end of the year from Richards.
When he's trying, giving it his all, he's the most balanced player in the NHL, can score, hit, anything you need. He's also a good defensive forward. His depth is incredible, and his ability to hit at his size is amazing. I hope to see more of that this year, just like in 09-10.
I feel like it's important we do well this year coming up.

@77HeIix So let me get this straight, you would like to see someone who played about 53 season games and what 2 and a half playoff games, get the C because he shows more effort then a man that played 81 regular season games and ALL the playoff games while having an injury that he needed surgery for ALL year? @PhillyFanatic87 yeah i agree bu the thing is not only has his point production gone down but same with his hustle and 2 way play, when he is at his best he is maybe a top 10 player in the league similar to kesler because of their 2 way play but hes not playing with as much heart and i down for trading him, the future is giroux and jvr instead of carter and richards which is what it was expected to be 2 years ago, but now the flyers are shopping carter and are hearing trade offers for richards

I am a hardcore Flyer fan, and I get sick of these "whose team is better" bullshit fights. AS A HOCKEY FAN, you should acknowledge the play of Richards here. But, as a Flyer fan, I have the right to say, everyone else sucks. Boston was lucky, and our goaltending was just as effective as Christopher Reeves' legs.
