  • It is not the Byzantne Army it is the Polish against the Tatars!!!!!

  • Anyone who appreciates the achievements of Manuel Komnenos to give his father John II a much closer look. John was not nearly as reckless as Manuel, he was beloved by his people, an expert in siege warfare, avoided costly pitched battles, and steadily expanded the boundaries of the Empire.

He brought the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia as well as the Principality of Antioch under his control. At his premature death, he left his son Manuel with a full treasury, a strong army, and weakened enemies.

  • H μουσικη απο που ειναι;

  • @Gitanes1972 shut the fuck up get out of here

  • @Gitanes1972 Sorry my Mongul Friend but we dont give a shit for your opinion. All Planet knows about Greece and about Your ZERO country. Things changes my friend. Keep fighting in the east the Kurds and you have time to enjoy Konstantinopolis for a few time more. ISTANBUL=IS-TAN-BOLIN ... you think is Turkish word ? hahaha The only Turkish thing you have , is the Stand TOILET my MONGUL friend

  • the clip seems to be from some movie about the Polish king defending the europe from the tatars. Which he failed. I wonder the name of the movie. MAnuel komnemnos for me was one of the most recognisable of the Byzantine kings, but I think he lacked the strength of will of his precedessors dynasty, like Basil. He really left too much to foreigners, like the pitiful crusaders. But his daughter, Anna, one of the most educated woman in european history left a vast amount of well written documents.

  • @strilaj You seems correct, cause there is no movie about any of Byzantine Emperors, so I have to use from others movies. Βut the Anna who wrote about the crusade, was daughter of Alexios Komnenos , not Emanuel Komnenos. The problem with Crusades was that they supposed to came as Alies. But they did irreparable damage to Konstantinopolis at 1204, so the city never turn back. So the 1453 was so closed. But in history never say never. Everything can lost, everything can returns.

  • @tektamos sorry my fault Alexander was the name... But nevertheless there is much problem with politics in Romaioi empire. Too much faith in foreigners or too few strength in their own unity. I think Poland as the I republic brought all the same problem. I really like the byzantines, but my favorite is the period before manzikert. I am myself willing to create a fully efficient unit of skutatoi, the byzantine heavy footmen unit, just as they were in 10th century. To join the polish reenactment.

  • @strilaj Anna Komnenos was daughter of Alexius Komnenos Manuel's grandfather. Her history is called the Alexiad, named after her father. Basil II (nicknamed killer of the Bulgars) was not of the same dynasty (Komnenos). He was of the Macedonian dynasty. (Greek of course, don't get confused with the slav state that is now named Macedonia because of the geografical region it belongs to)

  • @1944Bagration I corrected the name i got misguided. but you didn't read my post correctly, but there is a mistake of mine - "predecessors dynasty" i should say "predecessor dynasties" - i meant previous dynasties not "precedessors in the same dynasty" I can even correct it so that it would mean anyone of the same dynasty that he was in. On the other hand there is a different mistake - technically I cannot compare a man with dynasty, but should we bother with that...

  • damn, another mistake - "I can't..."

  • @strilaj If you don't like , we can talk in Manuel Komnenos language

  • whats the name of this film?

  • very nice video,i love history of Byzantium, once powerful orthodox kiingdom,i am orthodox too btw....but in this video there is one detail, the seljuks should be like turks not like mongols, they should have circle eyes and look like arab-turkish nation or not?

  • @Axotrotl As we know from Historians, the first Seljuks start comming to east Asia Minor since 9th Centure from the Steppes of Mongolia and they picturized like Mongols. Zero Culture, No language, no literature, no art, no civilized habits. But before they start to adoptive Greek (Ionian) Culture, they Adoptive for 3 centures everything from Arab culture. From language to clothes, so after a while it was hard to difference them from real Arabs. Like Romans from Greeks in Hellinistic time :) :)

  • @tektamos ah i kinda thought so too,its true,thanx for reply...where are you from?

  • @tektamos what the fuck a u telling about the Seljiuks??? The Turks came from Asia, yes that's true.. but they were not uncivilized, or uneducated.. otherwise we would'nt have 17 great turkish empires.. look to the Huns, look to the Selijuks, look to the ottomans...they had very strong state organisations ..and they ruled for centuries.. what about 600 years of ottomans.? please be objective and speak with proofs..not with emotions...

  • @Gitanes1972 so bottom line, what do you think they left as a legacy to humanity.? They ruled for centuries..so?Vandals?visigoths? were they civilised too? And yes the ottomans had (and have)strong state organization. Tell us about the civilisation

  • It's very good Gloire a Byzance

  • it's Cropetroforever on beginning to the video ? (I'm french ....)

  • @milorads98 Because you are Stupid

  • Respect and Honor!

  • one thing which fascinated me is the last moments, when Ottoman were crushing in the King of constantinople stood with his army till death. In India we shower such hero with colourful flowers.

  • @GrandmasterTigerfist you are talking about the last Emperor Konstantinos Dragasis Palaiologos. Yes, he fought with a few thousands against a quarter of a million and he died on the battle field. But today he is forgoten by the Greeks ....

  • What is the song between 2:30 and 3:50

  • @Boromir33 Its a song writen by Spanoudakis Greek Musician about Last Byzantine Emperor Konstantinos Dragasis Palaiologos. Would you like to find it for you in youtube ?

    LOL LOL LOL LOL HElloooooooooooo

  • @tektamos Well in Youtube there are also videos like the battle at Ongalus.I don't know if there is a video about Battle of Achelous (917).I'm sure you'l like both even better than the Battle of Klokotnitsa.

  • this is not original...

    Movie Mongols VS Poland....

You have not K of Komnenos,,,

  • @banat1980 Congratulation , the Oscar go to you ... If you find me a movie about Byzantium, I will do a better video.

  • Yes, the town of Byzanty has based Byzant (Byzas) from Megar in 667 в.с. And Constantinople till last times was Greek, we hope, to them and becomes. But this great ortodox empire at that time referred to on another - Βασιλεία των Ῥωμαίων? is'n it?

  • @Diamedful Romaιorum called the Greeks and Romanorum και Romans. until today Greeks used to call each others Romios Ρωμιός. Τhe culture between Romans and Greeks was the same, so for the others like Slavs, Persians, Huns whatever, they were the same. As today Greeks and Italians says same face same race. In Orthodox Byzantium Greek=Paganist so they were keeping some times the name Romios, Romaios just to saw they are not 12God believers. Its a big discussion my friend.

  • Also thinking people do not doubt of Russia, that Constantinople and other grounds should be Greek, and aggressors turks - are removed

  • It is a question not of the town of Byzantium which is based still in 7 in в.с., but about an origin of the term 'the Byzantian empire ' which is imposed by western in 19 century, as a matter of fact recently, and during power of Constantinople and it was not used. And anybody doubts that state based Greeks and a state language - Greek were forming

  • @Diamedful Yes and No :) :) :) you see if you take out Greeks from Byzantium, then shoud Greeks were dead for 1500 years. The Name Byzantium is absolutaly Greek. The name Konstantinopolis is Greek. Off course was a multiethinc Empire and the Base was the Religion and not the nation. Rome was the same. But never lost the power over the empire. If Byzantium has nothing to do with Greeks, is like Greeks not existing.

  • @Diamedful Sorry for before, I thought it was some else and i was quite aggressive. I didnt notice your name. Some times some turks or Skopjians make fun of Byzantium and i have to answer with the bad way. Forgive me, after the second comment of you, i see that you know a lot about Byzantium so i realized I am not talking with some young NewOthoman emperor who think the turks made Kostantinopolis :) :) :) :)

  • why do all people refer to the empire as Byzantneand they never say the word Greek?

  • The term "Byzantium" has been thought up by the western historians and culturologists for reduction of the importance of this state as the сatholic West is antagonistic to the orthodox East.

The self-name of Byzantium - Βασιλεία των Ῥωμαίων, or "Empire of Romans", and multinational ortodoxian people - "romeans", or "romans" as Сonstantin I has taken out the senate and elite of Rome in Constantinopolis, constructed on seat Byzantium, the antique policy.

  • @Diamedful First of all you need to learn better Greek, Because you are WRONG. Byzantium doesn't mean Empire of Romans. Byzantium comes from the older name of Konstantinoupolis, Byzantio builded by Korinthians After the war of Troy. Renamed Konstantinoupolis by the First Emperor. After Maurcianus has nothing to do with Rome. Is Absolutaly GreekOrthodox Empire. Language was Greek, The main Empire was on Greek Land and the Emperors activated in the name of Greeks and God.

  • As the main thing in this power during blossoming was considered not ethnic, but fidelity to Orthodoxy and business empire build . Look film of archimandrite Tihon "The fall of an empire - the Lesson of Byzantium" there are subtitles on English and Greek.

  • @Diamedful but still the Empire was Greek...

  • Was and will be again Greek and Empire

  • It must be again the nerve gas,
