  • is it just me or does viven leigh look bad in this flim. she look different in gone with the wind. like not in an old age kind of way.

  • @Sweetiegirl18 It's that weird thing you call make-up:)

  • Ms. Leigh IS truly one of the greatest actresses of all time!

  • "Argh those cats" hahaha

  • Marlon Brando just oozed sex in this film.

  • 0:22

  • 4:31 is that song' Mary Had A Little Lamb'?

  • brando was such a genius actor. a natural..

  • I love the way how he talks

  • 3:05 hahaaaa

  • "what are you lookin at? i never once touched her"

  • @HelloMello4221

    Liar!

  • I've always loved this movie and play. luckly i got to be Stanley when we acted out the script in Acting class. my scene was the birthday scene and i got a 100% on the scene because i actually threw the plates off the tabe and actually broke the glass when i threw it at the wall like in the movie. I also have a big crush on Marlon Brando lol

  • To be honest, i wouldn't mind being raped by Marlon Brando....

  • I remember trying to read Stanley's lines during my english class. It was really difficult because he speaks such a broken form of the language. Marlon Brando does it perfectly.

  • i love vivien liegh!!!! she is just outstanding!!!

  • This is some amazing acting.

  • There isn't another voice that is like Marlon Brando's.

"You know what I say? 'HAA HAA!"'

  • I think the style of acting was extremely different back then. Not just acting but directing too, comparisons between old and new actresses can only be made to a modest extent.

  • i didnt understand a work brando said.

why dont you women go up to nuances?

english teacher huh? i never was ne brughy ighn huhngn

  • @astroboirap "Why don't you women go up to Eunice's?" (the upstairs neighbor) and "I never was a very good English student" :)

  • @NotAsCuteAsPushkin haha thanks! you should be a full time marlon brando translator for n00bs

  • I call Stanley "Marlon Breako" because he breaks everything

  • hahaha he loves the napoliniac code.

  • Love Brando in this film, even if the character of Stanley is an awful person (grabs/beats his wife and blanche)

  • Thank you so very much for this amazing video... It was exactly what I needed to get me through this evening... Blanche and Stanley at their very best... Thank you, thank you, thank you...

  • All the best moments are here except for the scene when Stanley asks Blanche what she's doing with that broken bottle and she says, "So I can twist the broken end in your face".

  • acting really was an art form before, now its just modeling really.

  • @julioboiii Modelling! What about Forest Whitaker in Last King Of Scotland, or di Caprio in Blood Diamond to name only two? Lots of awesome performances around.

  • @julioboiii Are you forgetting about Angelina Jolie?

Acting was definitely about being prettier back then. Case and point, Marilyn Monroe.

  • @LuniaVideo That's a crap example. Marilyn Monroe was an incredible comedic actress. Her dramatic talent was never really explored, however she's amazing in her last picture, The Misfits.

If she had had more confidence in herself as an actress and as a person, and if she hadn't died so young, she would have been amazing.

Lee Strasberg said that two of his students stood taller than the rest: Marlon Brando and Marilyn Monroe.

  • @JPLV Marilyn Monroe sucked. She couldn't hold a candle to modern greats like Angelina Jolie.

Audrey Hepburn? Mediocre actress, beautiful face.

Jayne Mansfield? Mediocre actress, huge tits.

    Sophia Loren? Same.

    Etc. etc.

  • @JPLV

Strasberg never taught Brando. His teacher was Stella Adler.

  • @julioboiii

    Shit, man, apt remark.

  • HEY! THAT'S MY COAT!!!

  • this is surreal! when vivien acts, she becomes the character she portrays...

  • I remember "studying" this is school... All I can remember is that Blanche goes/is crazy... :-/ I'm pretty sure Stanley beats up/kills someone, but I don't remember who.

...Yeah, I didn't pay much attention in school. :-/

    xxx

  • I think i love him

  • Who was beeter in this? Marlon or Vivien? Because obviously Vivien won the Oscar but I've heard Brando was better.

  • @DameHaha2011 Hows about you watch it an decide for yourself.

    xxx

  • @DameHaha2011 They were both absolutely brilliant.

  • Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh.both are one of best actors of all time <3 LEGENDARY MOVIE <3

  • It's so strange to see Vivien looking so fragile and broken. I always think of her as fiery, strong, Scarlett. Yet she did such an amazing job with Blanche! An amazing actress for certain.

  • 1:20 Wa Ha Ba Cuttin the Rebop, STANELY

  • fuck 0.0

  • In the stae of Louisana we got hereknown what's as the napoleonic code... Lol. x). I feel so sorry for Blanche.. Streetcar is truly tragic.

  • la bombbbaaa;P

  • Dais asco feossssss

  • Brando.. what a stud! :D

  • @mizmary if u read the book u would know that he raped her

  • It was kind of painful to watch this movie because Stanley is such an asshole. But I guess that just shows how good of an actor Marlon Brando is...

  • Comment removed

  • I said i was sorry thwee times!!! Dx

  • Leigh and Brando give the best pair of performances ever recorded in a single film. The nearest competition is Anne Bancroft and and Patty Duke in "The Miracle Worker".

  • @MsJenniferParker agreed. I feel so bad because I can't help but be turned on by him. Even though I shouldn't and in real life, probably wouldn't.

  • just remember what huey long said, every mans a king and i'm the king around here!!! and don't u ever forget it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! amazing movie, amazing actor

  • 00:08 boob scratch ahha nice marlon

  • he is such a mysogenistic brute in this film.

  • @Regenmacher175 Yeah I know? Who says women can't play poker?

  • Vivien Leigh proved herself to be one of the greatest actress of all time with the role of Blanche Dubois. She suffered the same mental problems as Blanche and she used her illness to give this outstanding performance....Bravo, Ms. Leigh!

  • Comment removed

  • I saw a documentary about her once. Everyone else in "Streetcar" used method acting, reaching internally to draw out these scenes. She was the only one who didn't. Her head was so messed up she was that if she went method, she'd reach in and never get back out. So she stuck to Old Vic style acting.

  • I always get chills when Blanche goes apeshit when he takes the paper lantern off.

  • Marlon Brando was so hot in this movie, too bad he was playing the most despicable bastard ever.

  • That music just suits the mood so perfectly in the cat scene, it makes you smirk while your watching those two smolder together...

  • Brando is SO HOT!

  • Dear gawd! What acting, sigh... Simply seeing a word from the title makes me want to watch this movie over again. I get to see it on the big screen in May, I'm so excited... Thanks for posting!

  • did marlon do that cat hiss at 0:25 or was it special sound effect

  • @SexyAlyssaRitchie no, i think it was him. i was impressed as well.

  • yeah, you looks okay.

  • 3:12 she looks cross-eyed lolz

  • 1.05- if that was now, PETA would be all over that, haha

  • i watched this fil on my theatre 101 class & there was i liked from blache, it was when shw was arguing with mitch because she wont show herself in the light.

she said something about the age of the mind and the age of the heart. does any one know it???? because i cant find it anywhere.

    thanks.

  • He was great in this movie but Bogie deserved the oscar that year...

  • @WeaponXXIV... if You like that contrived sense of acting, in that case, YEA! Bogie should've one

  • @freedomland11 He did win...

  • How he didn't win the Best Actor Oscar that year? I Don't Know. One of the finest performances ever captured on film.

  • viven and marlon =two one of the best actors of all time.FACT

  • 2:42 everyone on the set Shat Bricks, I guarantee it.

  • i love how the movie hints that he raped her but it never actually shows it...

  • LOVE 0:25...

  • I love Marlon Brando

  • Leigh, Malden, and Hunter might have all won Oscars, but Brando was the undeniable star and was robbed of an Oscar. Simple as that.

  • Marlon Brando = YUM!!!

  • is it me or does marlon brando sound like a mixture between elmer fudd and eric cartman?

  • Wow, that is the most phallic use of a beer bottle I've ever seen ( 5:03 & 5:18 ) Haha :D

But wow, some of the characters are portrayed very differently to what I had in mind! Not in a bad way though, it's directed brilliantly :) l I mean, Blanche was much younger (And thinner, hehe) than I would've imagined,Marlon Brando as Stanley is much more comical than my impression :D (I read the play's script and stage directions beforehand for my A2 English Literature)

    A fantastic film, nonetheless!

  • @TobiusMcKenzie whered you get the script?

  • @moomoosborne Well, script is probably not the right word...

What I mean is that we were all given books on the play (which has copies of the play script in them), and the film is true to most of the scenes of the play

  • A monster, yes. But a monster with attitude.

  • marlon brando, the blueprint for acting over the next 60 years

  • viven leigh is just riveting in this film

you really feel her presence in every scene

  • So cute at 5:07 ; p

  • WA HA BA CUTTIN THE REBOP, STANELY

  • We love assholes...

  • @librermonami I think it's that want for the rough, animal man who will take control and really play the "MAN" role to it's fullest. something about that domineering quality is a ttractive to us I guess lol

  • @SupernaturalLover67 oh my lord yes... something about him is so damn sexy. Even though he IS an ape.

  • this movie is so good

i feel so bad for blanche, poor thing

i hate brando in this movie but my god he was handsome and built

  • OH dear GOD Marlon Brando.... what a beauty... that body of his!!!

  • Fuckkkkkk i want him

  • @annaisjesus I think you got the wording confused, do you mean I want to Fuckkkkkkkk him? hahaha

  • When he slammed his plate I jumped out of my seat. XD

  • it's scary. i could see myself falling in love with someone like stanley kowalski.

    i'm fucked.

  • @IVYREALPOISON

u dont fall in love with a person like that, you get infatuated with a man like that, beyond reason, beyond logic, beyond your better judgement...its addiction

  • @IVYREALPOISON Yes. You need HELP.

  • @IVYREALPOISON Don't feel fucked, he's got really good qualities... he's just a misguided man.

  • He's so pretty!!!

Stanley is such a scary asshole tho...

    : /

  • Love that play... the degeneration of Blanche's mental state is so well displayed, it's absolutely frightening how Williams (despite his mental sister) was able to depict it

  • i luv luv LOVE his angry cat immitation... <3

  • Streetcar is one of my favorite movies of all time. Viv & Marlon were great together.

  • Marlon and Vivien had some chemistry here:). I read his biography and he said he wanted to have an affair with Vivien but decided not to as became a friend to Larry. Vivien played Blanche exactly the way the character was to be protrayed. Actually too well, to the point it bothered her when she saw the parallel to her own depression.

  • Brando is the epitome of cool.

  • He makes Brad Pitt look like a little girl!

  • @GoldieGlitters yeah I wanna slap people who compare Pitt with Dean and Brando they dont know the moon from a slice of cheese

  • To those who comment on Vivien's "overacting", unless you haven't read the play (which I recommend because it is brilliant, obviously), we must keep in mind that Blanche is characterized as being fantasical and overdramatic because thats the world she chooses to live in. Its a mixture of her old Southern upbringing and her descent into madness.

  • To those who say Vivien is overacting, obviously knows nothing about the character or acting itself.

  • @CodyC6969 she's overacting by today's standards, because today acting is more about subtlety and details rather than emphazising the dialogue. But back then, that was the rule and she's fantastic. Brando broke that rule. Brando changed the world of acting.

  • What a monster Stanley was, Marlon does a superb job! Vivian and Kim, flawless

  • 5:08 look at his tongue when he drinks... ooo

  • marlon at his steamiest.

  • LOL. He plays a good a-hole in this movie...

  • look at that strong masculine intent ... an inspiration for all men

  • sorry if this is a stupid question but what did blanche say at like 3:10 when she was shouting...

  • @akudo2

    "I said I was sorry 3 times"!

  • @bawoman Oh ok thank you =]

  • aaah good times. I remember acting almost all of these scenes. Had real fun with them too. Tennessee Williams is a genius.

  • Whew! Brando here rates 12 on a sexiness scale of 1 (40+ year old virgin) - 10 (sexiest beast alive)! Yeah, yeah, it's perfectly clear that domestic abuse is entirely awful and nothing good can come out of those relationships.

But Brando's personality here...he's so...threatening, and scary even, the way he handles her physically. just his presence alone instills fear. and yet, it's unbelievably hot! he's gonna get his way, he won't take no for an answer! :O

  • My place is all cleared up now you want me to clean yours! epic!!!!!

  • one of my favorite movies ever :-)))

marlon is so cool and sexy...

  • HA HAAAAAA! lol

  • what a man!!! damn he fine!!!

2 bad stanley is a wife beater n all that shit as ppl here have said b4

    but damnnn!!

  • haha i watched this and burst out laughing at how awesome he is when he gets pissed off

  • It really annoys me that even though Stanely is a woman beater, a rapist, and an overall despicable person, I still find him attractive. If he wasn't so hot, he'd be easy to hate. Damn hormones.

  • @pinkpuma24

Lol,I agree ,Tennessee Williams doesnt make it easy on us by making someone so morally repelant but at the same time so magnetically attractive. And thats the point. All great movies and plays make us face truths and desires within ourselves that we may not be to comfortable with, but that we cant deny.

  • @pinkpuma24 i ust finished saying that to my brother right now lol but nevertheless ive made myself hate stanley bc i know that if he wasnt played by marlon brando, id like to kill him

  • Marlon Brando, the best actor of the world!! love it, he is my platonic love.

  • How could any human being be in a room with Marlon Brando when he looked like that and remain concoius?

  • Brad Pitt is nothing special. He definitely doesn't look like a guy that could toy with women, while Brando does.

  • Brad Pitt or Brando (then).. who's better looking?

  • @KleWdSide BRANDO!!!! HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!!

  • Our professor @ college kept convincing us that Stanley Kowalski is a vulgar villain ...

but if kowalski is gonna be Marlon Brando , then welcome Vulgarity n to hell Blanche DuBois :D :D

keep it up u tacky boy ;)

Brando u r the best , sexiest , most handsome actor i've EVER seen !!!

n Tennessee Williams u r the greatest American writer and the most talented in the whole history of English Literature :)

  • stanely kowalski, one of the greatet on screen villians don't you think?

  • Damn, Brando. Whoa.

  • hahahaha! and what century do YOU come from?!

  • Brando MAKES this movie. Every time he leaves the screen (if he's not in a scene) the magic leaves with him.

  • @KidBk313

Disagree. Both Viv and Brando make the movie.

  • i agree,but i`m not gay.:)

  • Vivien Leigh=perfection

  • You mean Vivien? Overreacting was a part of the character of Blanche.

  • you women and marlon brando. get ahold of yourselves

  • Lol.

    NO!

  • Get ahold of ourselves nuthin. Just LOOK at him!!!!!

  • haha....are you kidding? thats like asking an elephant to balance on a needle....in other words: impossible! i mean are you watching the same video?!

  • HEY! That's my coat!

  • I just love this movie, I can't get enough of it - but now I can't find the DVD :-(... I also recommend to watch it in the cinema if you get a chance. It is so much more intense, even if you already know it off by heart. Marlon Brando is just so great!!

  • "WELL HOW 'BOUT CUTTIN' THE RE-BOP!"

  • i love it when he smashes stuff period haha were doing this for our finals in drama class and i get to be stell XP however, my stanley is a gay guy.... :(

  • i luv it when he smashes the plates!

  • Brando was brilliant !!!! just Brilliant!!!!

  • wow,.. i just watched the play streetcar named desire here in the philippines and eula valdez as blanche dubois .. and having to see the original feels overwhelming.. both the actors vivien and eula did a job quite contrast,. vivien gave a little bit of a naive sense, while eula gave a powerful, sexy and unstable minded blanche.. which was awesome..

  • hi justin, im happy that you appreciate the filipino version of street car, flores para los muertos. =)

  • i didn't just appreciate it.. I was obsessed with it FOR WEEKS!! reminiscing every scene from the play.. wishing that there is a dvd copy of the play... :(
