@PikaChamp112 when your wii gets bricked it means that it has basically been "disabled". In a nutshell, you can't do ANYTHING with it, you just get a black screen. In effect, you could only use the wii as a brick, hence the word "bricked". Solutions to this are none. Really, NONE. That's why there's always a huge risk when soft modding your wii. Hope this helps =)

Pfft, only if you pull the plug or turn it off during installation. Preloader is a brick protection app, when used properly, you can recover a bricked wii. Bootmii is better though, you can backup your wii to an SD card, and then if anything goes wrong, you can reinstall your entire wii as of the NAND backup. Most people use both preloader and bootmi, you can also use preloader to skip disc updates automatically, and bypass the health screen

The despriction states the reason. "This can only be done on firmware 4.0X" your not on 4.0 so update using WAninkoko's 4.0 updater.

Doesn't work for me.

If I choose to patch IOS 60 the installer/patcher freezes between downloading and installing.

Also installing preloader bricks my wii. I then have to use preloader to get back to hbc and downgrade to get any sys menu back.

It bricked your wii because the installer chrashed. Try again then after finishing installing install preloader again. I said to use at your own risk. Hope your wii works.

It's not that easy, though.

The bricking has nothing to do with the IOS patcher. After it freezes, I can restart the Wii and it's fine, just still doesn't load stuff off of sd cards.

It bricks only when I try installing preloader. Reinstalling preloader right away doesn't help, either. It then tells me, that it's already there, it skips moving the system menu and reinstalls preloader. Then it's still bricked until I downgrade and re-upgrade or reinstall 4.0 from a wad.
