As a film studies major, I applaud your efforts to make a compelling film about a hot topic that now pervasive in the mainstream media. As a Buddhist however and as a adept of the ancient traditions, the whole concept of 2012 being a doomsday scenario and people dying left and right is bullshit!!! This movie is so fucking cheesy its making my skin crawl. I am in the middle of it and its making me want to tear out my eyes and flush myself down the toilet. The acting is painful. I wish doomsday would come right now so I wouldnt have to watch the rest of this crap. I am watching it with my wife and her Mother who is a devout Christian. I think the mistake you are making is that you are trying to calculate the figures from 3.5 billion and 4 billion which is incorrect. HINT: Life and History on earth are both subsets Earth and how long Earth has been around since it was formed.
Anyway, if you want to believe in God etc then that's entirely up to you.
