I didnt know but i sat in glenns class with a Burne Hogarth book and it didnt go down well.He humiliated me but seeing him go i realised the gravity of my error
You are the best! You break it down for us new artists to the point where we feel confident understanding the techniques needed to get the picture in our heads onto the paper. Thank You and please post some more videos.
I am not an artist by any means, but I took a figure drawing class from Glenn Vilppu when I was at UCLA, and he is simply God. I, too, thought this was pencil drawing and I think this should be stated. Does anyone have any good pencil/figure drawing videos? And, if you're reading, Glenn, thanks for getting this screenwriter thinking like an artist. :) GO BRUINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it's kind of unsecure way to draw. Means you are unsecure by drawing. Its alright to do this sometimes, but not for every stroke! Also its enough to make the first point and just imagin the second one by holding the pen over it.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. My linework has always looked aweful and I've always wanted to learn how to get that smooth 'look' many artists have.
Honestly, out of all videos on Youtube on learning drawing (I've watched dozens) this is the first video I've found that actually shows me how to do the basics. Kudos to you, sir.
Yeah... I'm finding the expert village and eHow videos seem to dominate when you're searching, but they also seem to be real vague and kind of rushed... I'm truyl grateful someone is taking the time to be thorough and give attention to the minor details... I actually heard someone say something like... "And you got to do the stuff, so everything is... you know, the stuff is better"... I mean, who is learning from dialogue like that... moatddtutorials does it right, I think...
you learn drawing by practising it and not by watching videos. and i make a good living with my illustrations and need my sparetime to look at other things (like naked women for excample)
but i won`t tell you my real name, 'cause i've written way too much bullshit here on youtube.
That logic is the lowest. What is the difference between watching a video of someone drawing and practicing? Surely you can do those two at the same time. Speaking of which, I wonder why you watched this video in the first place. Oh let me guess... it was an accident and you clicked on it by curiosity?
Glenn Vilpu! from Cal Arts! i watched your 2nd tutorial first and thought, 'boy, this guy would really dig Glen Vilpu!' Glen was the reason EVERYBODY in the program at Cal Arts could draw at a certain level academically. that you studied with him makes perfect sense, and you're an excellent teacher yourself.
Hi please send me a message^ how do you draw that nice on the computer? i can draw on paper.. But when i draw on computer its so bad.. is it the mouse or program or just skillz :P?
This is really a great tutorial. Although I draw for a long time there are still some helpful things. And you can explain the things very good so you don't get bored while watching.
Yup, it's sketchbook pro. I like it because the tools feel nice (smooth pencil, good response) and because the interface is unobtrusive (I don't need a keyboard and there aren't a bazillion floating onscreen gadgets).
I just drew the best goddamn circle in my life.
You're doing god's work, sir.

Just to let you know, these videos are always mentioned in drawing threads on 4chan, you're considered one of the best teachers there.

it depends on what are u drawing. industrial design always use this "point to point" technique because they require high precision drawings

My young friend,
Contours are the least important feature. Therefore, dear artist, do not define your figures with a line.

moatddtutorials 5 years ago 2
How much does Sketchbook pro cost. And which did you use with this: Mouse or tablet?
RocMegamanX 4 years ago
You can buy it as a direct download from Autodesk for $179.00 USD (there are versions for both PC and Mac and it functions the same on both)
BUT... if you're a student and you have your student ID you can get it from Studica for $80!
All of these episodes are performed on a Wacom Cintiq interactive tablet display. It's a flat panel LCD with an integrated active digitizer.
