Looks like that's with the stock antenna, eh? That's very clear. Imagine what you could pick up with a roof antenna!

@file83 Yes, the scanner works very well with just a small "rubber duck" antenna.  I would estimate that I am about 5 miles from the transmitter site.

i found an old scanner idk how old it is but its a radioshack trunktracker 800mhz. and i turned it on and i cant pick up anything. its the first time ive ever had a scanner and messed with one so idk what to do or how to get it to pick up signal.. anyone got any suggestions

how is the reception on this? i have a tripple trunked analog scanner and I can always hear the dispatcher for the fire/EMS perfectly but when the units are responding I get a lot of static from them about 80% of the time. unless I'm really close to the units they hardly come in loud and clear. does it have to do with frequency? because fire/ems is always around 154.20000 but PD dispatch and PD units i always hear fine and they're frequencies around 460.70000. higher number better sound?

these are great looking and sounding radios. my only comment would be that i wish the display was larger, might make it easier to see while mobile.

I just bought this scanner. Im having problems with trunking with it. Do you use a computer to encrypt freqs or dose this scanner just do it. Im having problem understanding this scanner.
