  • I have done a lot of research on this issue and it is unfounded. Go back to school and get your facts right.

  • I can't find any information to support the claim that she admitted to being a German spy, however Gracie Fields earned a fortune for the British war effort and the Germans wanted her dead.

  • That was so good. First time I have seen Gracie Fields grave. Took me a bit by surprise. Guess I imagine Gracie as 'off singing for the boys". Entertaining her public with her cheery smile and warmth. Our Gracie can do all that in heaven.

  • Thank you very much for doing this.

It would not be a quiet spot with Our Gracie spooking about would it! I may visit myself one day - wont take flowers - aspidestra instead!

  • Gracie admitted on a BBC interview in 1957 that she spied for the Germans so she WAS a traitor she lived in Capri because she couldnt be deported

  • Aye, and some people believe anything!!

  • That's bollocks!

  • @powerspade Sorry I don't believe it. True she married an Italian, but that was before WWII when Italy was still neutral. Surely she can't be classed as 'guilty by Marriage'.... Can she?

Gracie toured with 'ENSA' entertaining the Allied Troups, and more than played her part in the War effort. (There is Film footage to prove this). Don't blame Gracie for some 'mad' Italian dictator aligning Italy with Nazi Germany.

  • @powerspade If you must post this kind of bullshit, you really need to back it up with proof. Let's hear that 1957 BBC interview then!

  • Thanks for your uploads too like you I share what I have as Gracie would have wanted. Its you and I that have uploaded for the masses again Well done. I do have lots of material to upload, so keep watching and thanks.

  • Hi Alan nice thought I do have a copy Of This Week of Grace if you have not aquired one yet. I could have visited Capri many times to visit, but you have done us all a great favour by putting this on here for everyone WELL DONE

  • Thank you so much for this. I've only ever seen it in pictures. I'd dearly love to visit, but have turned down opportunities because I just can't bring myself to do it ...

RIP Gracie, darling. 30 years today since we lost you. XXX

  • Lovely to see her resting place. Check out my tribute to Gracie titled Grethe's 100th Birthday.

  • Reminds me of my visit to Capri! -I took a few leaves from both Aspidistra's.

Gracie's close friend John Taylor has been there this week and laid fresh flowers for her.

Not many others except John tend to the grave now, unfortunately...He goes 4/5 times a year though and cleans it.

    Seb

  • thank you for posting this tribute to "Our Gracie"
