Yeah. Big O is difficult to understand, so, if you don't get it, then just search for a possible explanation on the internet. Surprising stuff on the net about the ending that I didn't think about.
I saw one that used same music from season 1, another that used a new song from Queen-esque song, and this one. Can anyone explain to me the different versions opening 2?
this song sounds allot like the UFO theme, so they were threatened to be sued if they didn't change it, so they changed it back to the original theme for later episodes and the DVD release.
I just started watching this show because it started coming on cartoon network like at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday morning....but I don't really know what the hell it's supposed to be about...I've watched it every week now for the last few months, and I don't get the whole lost memories theme.....I wish someone who knew more about the show and it's plot could explain it to me....maybe then i could enjoy watching it a lot more....incidentally, I think other than the robots, the art kinda sucks for anime
That's the mystery, we don't know. We can assume by the surrounding desert and destruction of the town, a war took place linking with how everyone lost their memories 40 years ago. For the young this means nothing, but for others it means everything. Strangely, Roger Smith is mid 20s, yet doesn't know anything about his past either, only that Big-O *chose* him as its pilot. Roger makes it his mission to protect the city from those who keep trying to destroy it.
In the first season the only reason roger uses the Big-O is because low life crooks or just mysteirous by standers also come across their own Megaduses. From Roger's weird *flashbacks* we're meant to assume these are the robots that destroyed the city (heck it may be the only city left, considering how everyone acts to foreigners. You'd think they'd never seen one before! Yep this place has been isolated for way too long) We find out hints about what the memories are about and why they important
It's not until season 2 that everything comes together and actually begins to flow. The guys trying to destroy Paradim cause its a threat, while Alex Rosewater wants the memories cause apperently they are what power Magaduses *shrug* Alex want to rule the world as God and becomes Roger's main foe
Not all our answers are revealed because the 3rd season was cancelled. Apparently there werent enough fans. So try not to be too disappointed.
I hope this helps, I was talking for a while now ^^;
From what I have worked out. I think everything is ment to be a simulation, perhaps even a show within a show as we do see hints of what looks like a Dorothy action figure as well as the stage lights. Angel seems to be the only real person in this world. As she had the power to alter everything at the end. There still are some massive holes, like how Dustan is able to meet his child self outside the cinema, or reenact a scene from a film EXACTLY as he saw it...
@bigfornoreason The guys who did the art for this show helped out Warner Bros with the 90's batman cartoon before Big O came out. I think the art works well for the Film Noir style story line.
ok does anyone know where to get this song or if you have it could i get if from you please i can't find it anywhere and i want like the whole thing not like this 1 min clip
Uncannily so! It's bizarre thinking some one outside the U.K. is referencing that cult theme in this opening. I'm torn as to whether it's a brilliant homage or a rip off lol.
Well, Sunrise did work on the animation for Batman TAS. The sort of film noir approach of Batman TAS inspired Sunrise to do Big O, in a sort of retro-futuristic fashion, again similar to Batman TAS.
Good show; first theme IMHO is the better one. This one is copied from "UFO", scored by the late Barry Gray, who did a lot of Brit shows a while back. Sure, the first theme was a rip-off of Queen's Flash Gordon theme, but that one was so much better.
I really like this because it gives that sort of 40's detective vibe going on, which almost doesn't fit with the show...almost. I love this show, though! It's like Bat-Man meets Gundam!

This one does fit the show better I must admit, but the original is just sooo delightfully cheesy,
riomhadoir 4 weeks ago
i think they changed it just enough to not pay royalties to whoever did the UFO theme.
tightwads.

How amusing...when they actually try to make a decent opening, it is not nearly as catchy or memorable as the first lol

Hey! This is from the opening to "UFO"! But I guess it doesn't sound too out of place here......

Theme fits the show better but the first opening is just well more catchy and better. Better suited for epic robot punching.

I too love this song but cannot find it anywhere. Not a single shred of evidence it ever existed, according to the internet.
Still, pretty sweet tune.

Yeah, After reading alot of stuff here and there I learned.
I liked Batman TAS alot when I was a kid (may have something to do with my liking of Big-O).

No offense, but IMHO the original theme was EPIC and TOTALLY KICKED ASS!!!! This one is WAY too kitchy and up-beat for the later series' darker tone.
